I see so many negative comments. But for me, not being a 'music' expert or anything - I just know that listening to them makes me feel good. Listening to the chords are just awe inspiring. So I commend them and I could just listen to them everyday. I don't want to get into the 'over analyzing' phase like some did. I just know that I loved it.

My mom bought their albums, and I listened to them, often. This is, beyond a doubt, the most talented group to come along since the Hi Lo's....although there are certainly other wonderful groups...Manhattan Transfer, Fifth Dimension, etc. The first time I heard this song ...on the radio....I was blown away!

Absolutely amazing, awesome!!! The harmonization is impeccable! I imagine how very hard it must be singing some of the inner voices (just like in a jazz horn section). I love these guys! The very best. This is on such a high musical level where any kind of criticism is ridiculous. We are so lucky to have these guys.
it sounded like out of tune, but when you replay it, the tunes were fine! haha. so great!!! i like the solo of the bass, haha. very funny! To God be the glory! P.S. the tones they did are not the usual choir tones for the song that is why i thought they were out of tune, but they were really not haha.

@MALP1231 I agree, this is brilliant. Take 6 know who the Hi-Los are....I have the HE IS CHRISTMAS CD and among the names of those they 'collectively would like to thank' is Gene Puerling (for those who don't know, he was the founder of the Hi-Los).
@brennennase Indeed. One of the greats. I have a few Singers Unlimited albums, including the one with Rob McConnell and the Boss Brass. Gene Puerling died in 2008 and McConnell on 1st May this year. (And there's also the album ROB McCONNELL AND THE HI-LO'S [also with the Boss Brass] to check out....)
I'll admit, the intonation was a little shaky in places, but that could be due to any number of factors (mood, perhaps they don't do this song all that often, acoustics of the room, etc). Regardless, they still pull off a professional job, and I do like their arrangements. Trying to say one professional group is better then another is something only children and childish adults do. Either you like Take 6, and want to listen to more, or you don't.
I think the are sounding extremelly clean, no effects of any nature... no compression, no reverb... nothing. But its their performance still really impressive for "pure" voice with no sound processing...
@Mangasama You are entitled to you opinion of course, but you do realize that Take 6 has several Grammy's, and are considered one of the greatest acapella groups of all time? True, they are 15-20 years past their prime, but even this clip is better than most of the groups you included. This goes for the Blenders, who requires "help" on a lot of their songs.

It sounds great to me, but then I don ot have perfect pitch which my husband tells me is a curse. I love their harmony and acappella style.
As someone with PP I can tell you this group is dope on many levels, including staying in tune.
This is very nice.....listen to the Blenders version....they are much better with better arrangements.
