    Linda, you should look into using cardboard and deep compost for making your beds. Much less weed pressure that way and weeding will be easier in the long run. Only maintenance needed is adding a 1" layer of new compost each fall and occasional weeding. Check out Charles Dowding's channel for inspiration. No dig/deep compost system would work really well for your purposes IMO.

      Thank you! It’s sooo much easier to grow what works in your climate. -to focus on the things that are already naturally happy there. Of course the tunnels can make a lot of things happy!!

    I love this farm! The environmental consciousness of Linda is inspiring. She has great ideas to help her small business grow. The sound of her voice when she mentions encroaching weeds is familiar. I've been using cardboard layers and grass clippings in my garden for years to block weeds. It's a true battle. I haven't tried burning the surface seeds in new beds though. Great idea. The double walled greenhouses are interesting. I've seen homesteader videos where they are used year round to grow and protect in all weather. I wish there was another way to do double layer besides using plastic sheeting which degrades over time.

    I just came across this video and really enjoyed it. Do you start your lisianthus or buy plugs? I just planted seeds this week, hopefully I can get them to germinate and grow to bloom stage. Your flower farm is beautiful.

    Do you have a standard size bed size ? Do you use 4 rows of irrigation in all flower beds ?
    Do you Do single irrigation anywhere ?
    With your woodies and shrubs ....how far apart do you grow them ? And what number of irrigation tubes do you use?

    Hey Linda.. You have really inspired me into growing flowers. We live in tropical climate< at the coast of kenya, known as mombasa.. I would be really appreciate some guidelines as to how choose the varieties for my area. we never have tems below 24 degrees celcius. love from kenya

    Love the farm! Can you tell me more about how you put up the deer fence? I have about 4-5 acres I want to build out for flowers and vegetables to grow and sell and build a business. But need to protect against the deer!!

      That is called Hortonova netting. We use it over and over again each season. I’m not sure where it came from- but you should be able to find it with a web search and the name. We buy 4ft wide rolls of it.

    Simply Beautiful - how deep is the soil in the crates which you have planted the dahlias in? We have terrible clay soil, so my tubers have rotted. Would love to try this method - thanks

    it's a bit funny how shes talking about trying to keep everything close to nature, but shes putting plastic everywhere, grows her flowers in crates, grows tulips in december with growlights in her cellar etc.. but i know the struggle, you gotta live off of the flowers whole year round and its damn hard to combine that with sticking to natures rules when you have long harsh winters.. beautiful farm nevertheless :)
