Idea:. Those tanks being black absorb heat and the tops should get very hot during the heavy sunlight. As a kid we heated our pool on So. Cal. With a hose on the pool deck. Why not try with a hose on top of a tank circling the top as a coil and see how the temp goes. It then can heat a smaller tank for warmer water storage which can be drawn upon. Like a batter stores the solar gain let this system do the same but in the form of warm/hot water. If it works, which it will, you could eventually build a glass cover over that system over the coil on the tank thus increasing the air temp and find the water even hotter. This then to the storage tank (normal H2O Heater) that can have a back up of propane which won't need to run much because it is being fed by warm to hot water already.
great Harold I live in n az and haul water those black tanks do make the drinking water very warm and nice showers etc my tanks are 5 ft or so in the ground with only 3 ft exposed to the sun good adviceto them
@@TheBartmobile yes I know it will work and thought that dual purpose for everything is something they will understand and the top of the tanks can certainly be an out of the way place to create a very useful warm/hot water supply. I've heard this called a Batch Hot Water System. There is a young couple who is building their house out of two containers on TH-cam called Life Uncontained and they built one in a very interesting way. Oh to be so young again there are so many things I would love to do... Let's see what the "kids come up with"?

I am currently going to travel on the East Coast in my Grand Caravan, just with a bed and essentials for getting to destinations. I have goals in mind for family and friends to visit, but I want my own sleeping arrangements. I will still have a base thanks to my daughter and her husband, so winters will be with them in CT. This quarantining is giving me the ability to save money while staying home, and I look forward to traveling when this is over.
I have been living off grid since even before living off grid was cool. So here's just a little advice about heating up your hot water in the fashion in which you have been doing it. Place a black plastic bag over the top of your pile,directly on top,not above it but make sure it is actually touching the material. Your gonna be surprised at how much this will help heat your water especially when the sun is shining. Another way is to triple 3 plastic bags together and fill up with water and place in the sunshine (black plastic).they also make a black plastic shower bag camping shower. I made my own and you can to with a couple flat washers and a hose and a little silicone. Good luck and I hope you all the best.
We are two generations removed from the 30s dust bowls, depreciation that me grandparents and parents lived through in kansas and Oklahoma. Grandpa harvested 1 crop out of 7 years. No towns close with jobs. This is a sad, but life changing reality check for All. Of those living today. My county in upstate NY has a populaton of 62,000. We've had 87 people tested positive 9 hospitalized, 2 in ICU and 5 deaths in a nursing home. 40 of the 87 tested positive have already recovered.

I am in my mid 70's, and here in Australia we are basically discouraged from leaving our homes, so much so that I am able to get my groceries and my medications all delivered because of actions by our government to reduce risk to people over 65. I've been waiting for you two to discuss the elephant in the room. I believe talking about it IS being positive. It's being real. What's been challenging for me, as a fan and a follower - is sitting at home, laid off, worried about unemployment benefits, worried about how long this will last, worried about my mother and my son, then tuning into your vlogs, only to see you two NOT addressing the pandemic. totally hear you guys..post everything and all updates..you both are already positive with everything. sharing whats going on will not change that.. coil the hose in a circle use some scrap wood make a square box around it. spay paint it all black. tilt it facing the sun. when you can find some scrap glass window or plexy glass to put on the front of it..its a cheap fast way to solar hot water. i started making one years ago for my tiny house with copper never finished it yet lol. love you guys.

You kids are lucky you are not around people...I am a severe diabetic and older of course ..my husband had to go and check on our neighbor who worked at Walmart ..we had not seen her car move so hubby put on mask and gloves and trotted over their to see if she was okay...she has coronas and is in for 14 days...I am not worried that hubby went am glad we can do our part to help even if I am not healthy as I wished...We live off social security and tell you its not much ….but have faith believe and pray … I do...all this shall pass ...

Thanks for the update on how you guys are doing during this mess. It's been hard for all of us and worse on some than others. The economy - worldwide-is suffering and many small businesses have folded completely. Bigger corporations are doing better, but the little guys, the Mom and Pop sort of places are suffering. Schools, and most all offices and businesses are closed except grocery stores and places like Home Depot and Lowes for hardware, lawn and building supplies. There are long lines at many places and they only let in a few people at a time. I've been able to figure out the times when the stores are least busy and have gone into the City to get things I can't get in this small town I live in. But the social isolation, fear and panic have affected most everyone, especially those with small kids at home 24/7. There have been suicides over the fear and from loss of capital and businesses. I don't panic as I am on the internet most of the day doing research to find out the truth. There is a lot of fear-mongering perpetuated by the media and a few conspirationalists, but the truth is also out there and people with good, accurate info and common sense and I find it. So, anyway, glad you guys are hanging there. Just be grateful you are out of the bigger cities full of panic stricken people and have some peace. Love your videos, so glad you are continuing to film.

Just an FYI. If you were truly worried about getting sick while over there if you have access to Tonic Water at any time, I would buy some. Tonic Water has Quinine in it, which is used to help with malaria, and it’s basically an over the counter version of Hydroxychloroquine. Take some extra zinc and that for a few days and you’ll be good to go.
The quinine in tonic water is not at a high enough concentration. You'd have to drink so much of it that you'd border on water poisoning to get the amount that might benefit you. Another thing is most tonic waters have a lot of sugar so you'd be loading up your body with sugar which would lower your defences to a greater degree than what you'd obtain through the quinine in it. If you did happen to lay your hands on tonic water, but without the added sugar, you could reduce it to a much higher concentration and of course it would taste like bleep but then you could add a dab of sugar but not as much as if you'd reduced the sugared tonic water. Too many simple cards will lower your defences for up to 5 hours. Everything I'm saying I learned from an herbalist because I had asked the same exact question. That was their educated answer. Add to that that the quinine method has not been fully vetted yet either.
With those black tanks summer evening showers by itself should be amazing. This time has been and will be tough for everyone but you guys should be sitting pretty good out away from everyone. I currently am separated from my wife and children over seas but we are very thankful we live extremely remote as you do so none of them should have any issues. Chickens for eggs and a freezer full of meat and one neighbor we share and trade with. Love watching you guys grow and start your own thing your own way. Keep it up guys.

This virus is affecting millions of people. I lost my job, which I hope is temporary and I have been at home very much 24/7 I go out just to get grocery and I'm back. I am OK with the new rules the government has imposed cause I know it is for my and everyone's best interest when it come to health. I believe you guys could not be in a better place to whether the pandemic. I would not hesitate to trade my place for yours during these hard times.

Hola from Belize! I too had the same fears and concerns, but returning to NY is not really a good option. So I count my blessings as I sit in the beach every day. Am a new subscriber for about 3 weeks. You two are so sweet and so real. Just love your videos, no matter what the topic is. Here's an idea for you little chicks. They love to peck in the dirt and grass. You can put your metal deck frame someplace flat or even where it is if it's too heavy to move, but in the sun. Just put boards or anything you can around the bottom (stack the white pipes!!) so they cant get out and let the chicks have some grass time. Of course it will have to be on warmer days. You'll want to cover part of the top with a blanket or something so they have some shade and some sun. And watch for predators!! Be safe.

I'm a 7:30 - 9:30, too! And not a morning person😴I feel safer being here in Panama than I would have in the states. I moved here 9 months ago. It was a strange feeling to get those notices from the US embassy about if citizens wanted to go back, that was the time to go. You're probably in the best situation - out in the open space - beautiful nature all around and you have each other. I'm glad to know that your video production is still viable! My county in upstate NY has a populaton of 62,000. We've had 87 people tested positive 9 hospitalized, 2 in ICU and 5 deaths in a nursing home. 40 of the 87 tested positive have already recovered.

I am in my mid 70's, and here in Australia we are basically discouraged from leaving our homes, so much so that I am able to get my groceries and my medications all delivered because of actions by our government to reduce risk to people over 65. I can only see my kids and grandkids in facetime calls. I really love what you are doing there in Panama, so stay well, and keep the videos coming. Cheers and good luck.
I've been waiting for you two to discuss the elephant in the room. I believe talking about it IS being positive. It's being real. What's been challenging for me, as a fan and a follower - is sitting at home, laid off, worried about unemployment benefits, worried about how long this will last, worried about my mother and my son, then tuning into your vlogs, only to see you two NOT addressing the pandemic. totally hear you guys..post everything and all updates..you both are already positive with everything. sharing whats going on will not change that.. coil the hose in a circle use some scrap wood make a square box around it. spay paint it all black. tilt it facing the sun. when you can find some scrap glass window or plexy glass to put on the front of it..its a cheap fast way to solar hot water. i started making one years ago for my tiny house with copper never finished it yet lol. love you guys.

You kids are lucky you are not around people...I am a severe diabetic and older of course ..my husband had to go and check on our neighbor who worked at Walmart ..we had not seen her car move so hubby put on mask and gloves and trotted over their to see if she was okay...she has coronas and is in for 14 days...I am not worried that hubby went am glad we can do our part to help even if I am not healthy as I wished...We live off social security and tell you its not much ….but have faith believe and pray … I do...all this shall pass ...

Thanks for the update on how you guys are doing during this mess. It's been hard for all of us and worse on some than others. The economy - worldwide-is suffering and many small businesses have folded completely. Bigger corporations are doing better, but the little guys, the Mom and Pop sort of places are suffering. Schools, and most all offices and businesses are closed except grocery stores and places like Home Depot and Lowes for hardware, lawn and building supplies. There are long lines at many places and they only let in a few people at a time. I've been able to figure out the times when the stores are least busy and have gone into the City to get things I can't get in this small town I live in. But the social isolation, fear and panic have affected most everyone, especially those with small kids at home 24/7. There have been suicides over the fear and from loss of capital and businesses. I don't panic as I am on the internet most of the day doing research to find out the truth. There is a lot of fear-mongering perpetuated by the media and a few conspirationalists, but the truth is also out there and people with good, accurate info and common sense and I find it. So, anyway, glad you guys are hanging there. Just be grateful you are out of the bigger cities full of panic stricken people and have some peace. Love your videos, so glad you are continuing to film.

Just an FYI. If you were truly worried about getting sick while over there if you have access to Tonic Water at any time, I would buy some. Tonic Water has Quinine in it, which is used to help with malaria, and it’s basically an over the counter version of Hydroxychloroquine. Take some extra zinc and that for a few days and you’ll be good to go.
The quinine in tonic water is not at a high enough concentration. You'd have to drink so much of it that you'd border on water poisoning to get the amount that might benefit you. Another thing is most tonic waters have a lot of sugar so you'd be loading up your body with sugar which would lower your defences to a greater degree than what you'd obtain through the quinine in it. If you did happen to lay your hands on tonic water, but without the added sugar, you could reduce it to a much higher concentration and of course it would taste like bleep but then you could add a dab of sugar but not as much as if you'd reduced the sugared tonic water. Too many simple cards will lower your defences for up to 5 hours. Everything I'm saying I learned from an herbalist because I had asked the same exact question. That was their educated answer. Add to that that the quinine method has not been fully vetted yet either.
With those black tanks summer evening showers by itself should be amazing. This time has been and will be tough for everyone but you guys should be sitting pretty good out away from everyone. I currently am separated from my wife and children over seas but we are very thankful we live extremely remote as you do so none of them should have any issues. Chickens for eggs and a freezer full of meat and one neighbor we share and trade with. Love watching you guys grow and start your own thing your own way. Keep it up guys.

This virus is affecting millions of people. I lost my job, which I hope is temporary and I have been at home very much 24/7 I go out just to get grocery and I'm back. I am OK with the new rules the government has imposed cause I know it is for my and everyone's best interest when it come to health. I believe you guys could not be in a better place to whether the pandemic. I would not hesitate to trade my place for yours during these hard times.

Hola from Belize! I too had the same fears and concerns, but returning to NY is not really a good option. So I count my blessings as I sit in the beach every day. My TH-cam channel has grown as many more people want to do yoga and wellness practices at home now, and I have a great backdrop. Am a new subscriber for about 3 weeks. You two are so sweet and so real. Just love your videos, no matter what the topic is. Here's an idea for you little chicks. They love to peck in the dirt and grass. You can put your metal deck frame someplace flat or even where it is if it's too heavy to move, but in the sun. Just put boards or anything you can around the bottom (stack the white pipes!!) so they cant get out and let the chicks have some grass time. Of course it will have to be on warmer days. You'll want to cover part of the top with a blanket or something so they have some shade and some sun. And watch for predators!! Be safe.

I'm a 7:30 - 9:30, too! And not a morning person😴I feel safer being here in Panama than I would have in the states. I moved here 9 months ago. It was a strange feeling to get those notices from the US embassy about if citizens wanted to go back, that was the time to go. You're probably in the best situation - out in the open space - beautiful nature all around and you have each other. I'm glad to know that your video production is still viable! I've been curious how that would affect van-lifers /TH-cam content creators. If you ask around, you may be able to find the materials you need. Be well!!
