Friend of mine had throatcancer with metastases to his tongue and chestmuscle so they had to take half his tongue, his chestmuscle, muscles in his neck, half his lower jaw and much more. He lived for 4 years after all of this but lost the fight when the cancer came back. I will never forget him. R.I.P. Koos, love you mate.
@@suemarlow8253 it was a co-worker of mine and the best friend i ever had. Never met a more friendly and strong guy than him. While he was so so sick he never complaint and kept on working. I did and do love him still and mis him very much.
That pain is unbearable though. I had a surgeon who gave zero pain meds before I woke up for my first abdominal surgery. It took 8 people to hold me down while I writhed and screamed until the meds they finally gave kicked in. I nearly busted all my stitches. Then, I went into anaphylactic shock and no one would tell me what they gave me to cause it.
I woke up from gallbladder surgery with no pain meds I was trying to stand up because I was in so much pain and my blood pressure spiked they gave me something to knock me put
It’s crazy how often reconstruction and plastics are involved in opening and/or closing for surgeries that you wouldn’t think they’d be involved in. Plastics opened when I had my leg rebuilt because of the amount of existing scar tissue. They cleaned it all up, showed ortho the best way to close, then left. It had nothing to do with how my leg looked and everything to do with how it’d heal.
Imagine your body being a Perfect balanced scale. When sick, there Is an inbalance in One side. Healing means removing that inbalance, which can make the scale move Crazy out of balance before finally stopping.
This how the dentist proposed to fix my crossbite. I'm glad I said absolutely not. I'm glad it wasn't a life threatening thing that would have made me do it.
I’m gonna a have to get this done one day, at least the jaw breaking. I have TMJ, I can’t even eat normally without pain. It runs in my family, as do a million other defects. For some reason, I decided to collect both family sides’ issues like Pokémon cards 🙄
@@dilypoppI had TMJ from about 13 to around 40. I have absolutely no idea why it stopped. Still won't chew gum though. I'm not about to press my luck.
I've had the surgery to fix crossbite (couldnt eat more than a semi solid food and could barely chew for most of my life) i can confirm this is NOT what they do. It's a much less intense type thing If your dentist explained it poorly i'm very sorry... if they said it would be exactly this? Please find a new care team because holy crap
@@dilypopp ugh I live off of ibuprofen with my TMJ pain. Found a chiropractor though that pops my jaw and I can open it slightly wider than it froze at.
A case as an OR nurse was one where they split the patient's face down the middle. Left work at 7 pm on a Friday, came back on a Monday at 7 pm where I had transferred to the ICU. He was my first patient. All those hours later. Happy to say he recovered. Long road, but a successful recovery and those scars were not noticeable after a few years.
Yes only a program but,...There is so much truth to the 'victory pain' with the brain's healing. Headaches and head pain can be mental exhaustion or healing. It's your job to figure out which is which for your own self care, and continued healing. 💌
Building off this if something feels wrong see a dr. Trust your body and listen if you feel off then even if it's nothing at least you have peace of mind that everything is ok and if it's not then you can get help.
Derek was such a jerk in his personal life, but he was a great surgeon who was very honest with his patients and very compassionate with them too. I used to really love this show.
Pain sucks, especially when pain meds don't work. After spinal surgery, i was in so much pain, and no one would listen. Turns out oxy has lactose, and I'm allergic to milk. Even a gelatin capsule will cause me to have severe pain. Medicine isn't always right.
One of my favorite book quotes, which I will fuck up but it goes like this "Pain is good, pain means you are alive. Only the dead, don't feel pain" From on of the Dresden Files books

"Every medical advancement started with the statement "This sounds crazy!" Such a truth.
You should look up why the chainsaw was invented😅...

Wonder if they got ideas from Blade 3.

I'm sorry for your loss. Throat cancer is vicious. I wish more people would know about the HPV vaccine, it prevents quite a few of these cases 😢

My Ma always said, “Things always get worse before they get better.” This is very true with medical healing pains and itches.

I couldn't even watch when they showed the surgery scenes for this. Something about cutting into the palate is just...nope!

Couldn't they gone thru the back? Instead of the front of the face?
Going through the back would be more dangerous because of the spine. Better to have to deal with some plastic surgery than be potentially paralyzed.
Let me go. Just let me go.
