Robert stopping the clock was him using his lawyer logic. The spell would be permanent after the CLOCK struck 12, not when it was actually midnight.
On top of that, this is a “fairytale life” and we often see clocks have actual control over time especially in instances of curses and other large magic.
Ah the loophole. One of my favourite words in existence - mostly thanks to my introduction to it from Fractured Fairytales (from Rocky and Bullwinkle) telling of Rumplestiltskin: th-cam.com/video/f6bwyILxtYA/w-d-xo.html
I wished that they'd made Sofia older, so that she could actually interact with Morgan and the other characters. She barely even impacted the story, only existing so as Nancy and Edward could gift her the magic wand.
Yes I agree with you. I saw some people comment this on the TH-camr, *ModernGurz* video on Disenchanted.
By Changing her sister, Sofia’s age could have added tension for Morgan as well.
Omg I also had the thought that Sofia was kinda of just there LMFAO like why show that they had a baby when she wasn't even relevant to the story?? 😭
I agree, maybe if the wand was like a house warming gift? Then maybe it would have worked better. Other than that and some other minor gripes otherwise I did really like this movie.
@@SophiaPhannn how else would they set up the third movie in a really clumsy way??? That's their bread and butter
@@SophiaPhannnShame that Disney doesn't want to acknowledge 'Sofia the First'. Disney, you could've done it in this film. It was RIGHT THERE!!
So in the first Enchanted movie Giselle has no knowledge of what sex is, “Does she think we….kissed?!” “Boys only want one thing. What’s that?” and now here she is having a full human baby. Must have been a weird explanation for Robert to do.
LOL omg I never thought about that 😂
do Andalasians have pain during birth?? like i feel like she wouldnt even know it and also then faces all the weird stuff from being pregnant
Well, it has been 15 years. Makes sense on how that us no longer an issue.
But if there’s nothing after happily ever after in andalasia, how are people born?
@@rafaelaveralugo7626 storks I guess?
Evil Giselle was such a vibe. I know I shouldn't like her, but Amy is so massively talented.
I LIKED HER TOO, she was so funny lmao
@@SophiaPhannn she was sooo fun! And it was really cool to see the switch in her.
I wish they explained that Gisele's company closed down, I think that would explain her motivation to move to the suburbs
It irks me just a tad that people think Robert didn't have his own story arc just because he wasn't with Giselle for most of the film.
If you pay attention to what he's actually doing in his scenes, you'd see that him, "doing and accomplishing nothing" was the whole point.
Taking the train was him realizing keeping his job in the city is taking him even further away from his family, when they moved away from the city to avoid exactly that.
First try at being a hero comes in the form of a dragon. He does exactly what every prince does, and gets tossed out on his ass, thwarted by someone blocking the cave with a rock, under advisement he should give up being a prince altogether.
Second attempt is a giant. He tries tripping the giant with a rope, and the giant proceeds to drag him through town with said rope. But the second he gets free, a little girl cries out for help, and he's just in time to save her from being crushed to death, and assure her she's going to be okay.
He tries to rebuke the girls parents claims that he is a hero, because he didn't stop the giant, but the parents still insisted.
And that right there is the whole arc: he doesn't need to be a prince charming. He just needs to be there for his family.
THE NUANCE !!!!!!!!!!! I just love this movie
His storyline was all about finding his purpose even though he had one all along and that was to be with his family.
People lack the ability to detect nuance. They want to look for all the ways the movie is 'bad' as opposed to recognizing the subtlety of it.
Well there is a scene where Morgan confronts her parents a d said along the lines of "he just commuted one time" according to Moderngurls review
Wow... I did not pick up on this. I still felt it could've been executed more fluently with its theme and tying to the main plot, but this analysis is spot on!
Gotta give props to Amy Adams for switching between Evil!Giselle and good Giselle on a hecking dime multiple times in the same scene
During the shopping scene, which is a bittersweet callback to Giselle and Morgan's shopping trip in "Enchanted," you'll notice mannequins wearing the dresses of other Disney princesses.
Yeah, I saw that too!
I just realized, the baby Sofia was literally forgotten about after the first act of the movie -- like, pretty sure I don't remember the baby showing up at any point in the remaining two acts. The story moreso became about Morgan 😂😂
I mean I’m glad that they didn’t just leave the baby by herself like I think fairies are good babysitters
I think they should have aged her up to Morgans age in the first movie and had an evil stepsister thing going on in the second act
I think they should have aged her up to Morgans age in the first movie and had an evil stepsister thing going on in the second act

@@andressotil4671 can't be a stepsister if they're biologically related...
The other girl who originally played Morgan is actually in the scene where the Queen announces the festival after Giselle makes the wish.
the movie was so cute and fun, but i really wish it was able to focus more on morgan. the magic wand gift scene really made me feel like she was having a lot of inner turmoil that could have been explored throughout and not just towards the ending when she was needed to help save everything.
Yeah the plot tended to shift the focus a lot, which ended up making it a lot weaker
Give us a third movie where we revisit themes of jealousy turning saints intooooo the sea--
@@nailinthefashion Swimming through sick luuuuuullabies
@@rachezzel I'm so glad someone caught the reference maybe I'm not an eldritchian deity yet
Maybe if Morgan entered Andalasia as an escape or to have a semblance of what Giselle wanted and the more she stays, the more Andalasia and the real world gets impacted.
One thing I absolutely love about this movie - the actors look like they're having so much fun in these roles. It's cute
I wish Robert would visit Andalasia at some point. Giselle has told him so much about it and she’s been in his land for awhile, so it’d be nice of him to visit her home kingdom
Ooooh yeah that would've been fun! Too bad they pushed Robert to the side a little in this movie :(
At the market, someone calls out, "Sugar dates, figs and pistachios!"
This is a line from Aladdin, when Jasmine is walking through town in disguise.
Giselle's outfit is even reminiscent of the disguise Jasmine dons to escape the palace.
I’m so glad they gave Idina Menzel more of a singing role in this movie. I didn’t even realize she didn’t sing in the first one until you brought it up. “Love Power” is still stuck in my head, her voice is so powerful. 😂❤
I think they knew that Idina would outshine Amy vocally (which she clearly should since everyone has their talents, and Amy acts circles around the other)
This movie felt sssooooooo balanced. I'm quite pleased with their choices for the lyrics too.
It was very raw and simple, just what this holiday season feels like to me.
@@nailinthefashion Exactly
It seems like she didn’t enjoy the Songs of the Movie…but it is Disney and the Songs where good in my opinion.
A lot of reactors don’t understand why stopping the clock works but this is a “fairytale life” and in fairytales we see clocks have real influence over time especially in instances of curses and other large magic. Remember the clock in OUAT?
The mention of Once Upon a Time made me smile. I have been a fan since 2011,when the pilot aired and I cosplay Emma, who is my favorite character.
I literally JUST finished rewatching it hahaha it was so good the first 3 seasons, and then it spiraled downwards.....
1:16 There's a girl reading by a fountain reading a book, by some sheep, reference to Belle. And fun fact: Rachel Covey (the original Morgan) DOES have a role in this movie: she's the lady who answers Giselle (when she asks what to get ready for), "The festival, milady?" I feel like Giselle's peacock dress is a remake of Rosella the Island Princess's dress.
That was my reaction when I saw that outfit.
4:48 I would have liked this room now!! 😭
Also, Rachel Covey (who played Morgan last time) has cameo that occurs when Giselle meets the Queen of Monrolasia shortly after making her wish. Covey's "Monrolasia Girl" is a villager who reminds Giselle of the town's festival.
I love how the actor doing the scroll voice is just using his voice from the villian in Wreck it Ralph
They could have made Sofia any older age and made the reason for the gift being some sort of Andalasian coming of age party/ceremony. A whole other reason for Morgan to feel left out and start some tension since she didn’t get one when she was Sofia’s age.
Sofia being and older and having a magical/fairytale coming of age thing actually brings up so many possibilities.
I was so surprised and delighted by this sequel! They didn't take away from the main character at all and let her have her main character moment. The writers didn't try to dull her down or make her more eccentric, they just let the characters unfold naturally and it turned out really well.
I think despite no matter how bad/good people may think of this movie, I can at least say that the cast is clearly having fun. They put so much effort into the performances and Amy Adams is a treasure. During the very tiny dance break during Badder, Amy and Maya Rudolph just have these smiles on their faces that make it look like they’re having the time of their lives and I love it
Honestly, Morgan was extremely chill about everything. Literally the only out of pocket thing she did was the whole “she’s not my mother, she’s my step mother” thing, which is also still a valid thing the only thing that made it out of pocket was she said it specifically to hurt her.
Think how cool it could've been if Robert was in transit while the spell took effect and his B-Plot was like a quest to escape a magical looping carriage to get back to his family. Not only would this have tied in better with his theme in the movie of having to commute (which really didn't mean anything) it would've also made more sense to Giselle becoming evil, as all the evil step-moms had dead or absent husband's. It would also have isolated Giselle and Morgan as better foils.
Oh and bc Robert has the real magical sword, he'd be aware that it's a spell and aware that something it obviously then not going to turn out well.
THAT'S SUCH A GOOD IDEA!!! Disney should hire you ☝️
"aww thats so sweet" *room catches on fire*
2:54 Thats a really cool idea. That might be the reason She doesnt understand teenagers and sarcasm because She never was a teenager
Watch closely for the moment a bucket of water splashes behind Morgan as she sings, a direct parallel to the waves splashing up as Ariel sings "Part of Your World" in "The Little Mermaid."
I think they moved bc Sofia's baby stuff made the apartment too cramped and that's why they moved. So they could raise her in a more open environment.
Also there's a Little Mermaid reference w/ Morgan in the market. I do think Cinderella is overdone in media and another movie should be referenced instead, bc there's more classics besides it.
And Idina hitting the notes from her time as Elphaba in Wicked. She's such an icon
Your hair is absolutely slaying, also i think the plot is a little weak, but damn all the actors age wellll❤
Yeah the plot was fairly predictable, but the cast looked like they were having so much fun playing their roles 🥺
I just appreciate how Sophia is positive in her commentary. Like, I enjoy people dissing or loving a movie, but she changes my negative perspective into a positive one. She tends to see the better side of things.😊
The opening credits have a ton of Disney references. Some of them go by so quickly that you could blink and miss them entirely, while others are more obvious. As the classic Disney intro plays, the castle becomes an animated Andalasian palace. As we move past those familiar turrets and towers, we see what appears to be a young Prince Philip from "Sleeping Beauty" crossing a bridge with his parents. Moving further into Andalasia, we see a busy baker carrying his tray like always, a nod to "Beauty and the Beast," and a character who looks like Little Bo Peep. The troll who chased Giselle into Edward's arms in the first movie is back, too.
We see a baby warthog that looks like Pumbaa (Ernie Sabella) from "The Lion King" and a firefly that resembles Ray (Jim Cummings) from "The Princess and the Frog."
Can't get enough of this film. Maybe it's cause I followed the announcement for it since 2010 and I loved the original film
Me too!
the three gardeners in the beginning were blue, red, and green like the three fairies from sleeping beauty, theres actually a decent amount of easter eggs from different princess movies, like trying to make someone a toad (princess and the frog)... but it took a rewatch to find out
It was cool seeing Disney returning to their old animation.
I love that the titles are reversed; Enchanted took Gizele out of a fairytale world and Disenchanted created a fairytale world. And yes, they did Idena dirty with that wig lol
I always find it funny when Sophias and Sofias fight over the correct way to spell thier names.
I am so excited to see your reaction!
Enchanted is one of my favorite movies and I was so excited for the sequel.
•I am so happy the majority of the main cast came back.
•However as for Disenchanted, I like the idea for the plot/storyline but I felt like it could have been Executed a little bit better but overall it was fun sequel.
•Amy Adams acting as the evil stepmother was amazing!!
I really loved it, Enchanted is my favorite thing in the world, and I was really scared about the sequel but it was pretty good! I would loved if they did some things differently but it doesn’t bothers me that much. I was afraid they were going to destroy the relationship between Robert and Giselle but they didn’t! They are still so in love and you can see how Robert it’s steel head over heels for Giselle when he just admires her while she’s singing. And I was afraid about Giselle being a villain but it was great, it made sense and they did a great job with her character, and with this sequel she’s even more of an autistic rep for me! I always looked at her and saw parts of my autism in her and it’s even stronger in this movie! I just loved it, I do wanna re watched and I just want to make more headcanons about them, their beautiful family and dynamics
The first dance sequence reminded me of the Prince is Having A Ball in Brandy’s Cinderella movie.
The film overall is okay, Amy transition between Giselle and Evil Stepmother was really great!
My Wife was so nervous when this came out. She never told me that the first one was one of her favorites and so, naturally, we had to watch it together first. So we made some nice food, warm blankets and hot choco and watched it. She was so relieved i loved it so much we had to watch the second right away and we did. Loved the second one even more. The "Who is badder" musical-off is great. Was a really nice sunday.
I think Hocus Pocus 2 and this movie should swap ratings cuz wtf, I really didn't expect anything from this movie but I honestly kinda loved it, although not as much as the first one since it can't be topped. It managed to further the plot and character development of Giselle really well imo and even tho the side characters were kinda sidelined for this one (especially Robert), I really appreciated what they were trying to do.
Dude this movie fucked me up last night LOL. I was so excited. I tried not to be, but, Enchanted was so good I just couldn't help it.
I was destroyed within 20 minutes lol. As soon as she said sumn about happily ever after being more of a concept than something real, bam. Que the waterworks!
Then they nailed the landing with her remembering what true love is, and it's not JUST a kiss, but the memories that come with it.
I'm tearing up again right now and I wouldn't have it any other way 😌
The girl who speaks to Giselle when Maya Rudolph’s character comes out of the carriage the first time, I think she says the line “the festival malady.” is the original Morgan she made a little cameo in that scene.
give my bestie giselle her business back and make robert a stay at home dad im so deadly serious
So true, didn't seem like Robert enjoyed his job anyways 🤷♀️
I feel like so many people compare it to the first one when it’s not suppose to be like the first one. The first one was suppose to be like a fairytale, this movie is not suppose to be like one - hence the title “Disenchanted”
The floral design of Morgans room is from Frozen.
The villain duet was my favorite song in the movie
This movie was alright, but it lacked the magic from the original movie, and had too many forgettable songs. Amy Adams was incredible as always, and Gabriella Baldacchino was great as the new Morgan, given that this is apparently one of her first big screen roles.
Oh yeah for sure, you cannot top the original! The song between Amy Adams and Maya Rudolph started to grate my ears while I was editing 😂 but at least all the original actors looked like they were having a blast though!
Most of the shop names are Disney references. Pay close attention and you'll see Beauty and the Book, Smee's Cheese, The Royal Sip, Mary Popover's Bakery, Bibidi Bobidi Butcher's, and Lumiere's Candle Works.
The guy Robert talks to on the train is the Genie from the original Broadway show of Aladdin
honestly can we just get a movie thats 2 hours of idina singing? like i could just listen to her singing
The coloring of the gardeners costumes is a nod to Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, the three good fairies from "Sleeping Beauty."
I was very scared to watch Disenchanted (that's why it took me this long to watch this video lol), I absolutely love Enchanted so I was worried that it would make me enjoy the first movie less. But even though Enchanted is much better, I enjoyed this movie. I was lowkey about to cry when Edward started to disappear and when Giselle told Morgan that of course she's a true Andolasian daughter, because she's her mom
Just a thing with stopping the clock, it works for me because it’s always the last stroke of 12. It never says actually midnight.
The midnight thing isn't actually about Cinderella as the original had nothing to do with midnight or fairies. 12am is the witching hour. A time where magic is most powerful.
The clock in Monroeville is a Once Upon a Time reference
I Like the tv show Once Upon A Time, and I can see that reference now.
Also, the outfit that as the evil Queen Malvina was wearing, reminded me of Once Upon A Time the Evil Queen, Regina’s outfits.
I LOVE this movie! The characters, the actors, the sets, and the songs are all enchanted! I don't understand how it only has 38% on Rotten Tomatoes
honestly when edward said his line about the hole in the sky at 24:13 felt very eugene fitzherbert-y
23:08 Ruby is an evil henchman, I think cheap or fake looking jewellery is part of the look - something that makes her look important but reminds everyone that she's not as important as whoever it is she serves
I get if it doesn't really vibe with you, but I actually think the antagonist lady changing her behavior after a dream like that makes sense. Normal people, seeing themselves like that - a villain hurting and even trying to kill people - would be jarring. Plus, dreams are generally thought to be reflective of problems you're having in your life.
So! I thought that her reflecting on her bad habit of "going too far" and extending an olive branch makes sense in the morning after. I think I'd react the same way, you know? A little more subdued and wary of how I'd been acting.
I think the reason whatever the queens name was had a change of heart is because she too held power in the dream/hallucination, so she knows it wasnt a dream, although i do wonder what MADE her have a change of heart other than maybe like... Oh this woman truly cares so much about her daughter but i only do it to boost my own reputation, but thats the only thing i can think of
OHHHHH that would make so much more sense if she knew it wasn't a dream. But even then I think she would still be a little bitter 😂
I was a little disappointed that Edward wasn't in this movie more because he's weirdly kinda my favourite and I enjoy every scene he's in. But I got to see him play with little kids at the end so it's fine
(1) This move is actually my favorite I love the songs, the plot, I cried when Amy almost died and I hope they never do that ever again…
(2) ALSO LOVE AMY AS A VILLAIN AND MAYA Rudolph WAS AMAZING AND SO FUNNY 😂, pack-trick did age well, also I’d like to think Giselle does have teenage memories but likes to forget them because they can be embarrassing and she wants Morgan to feel More princess like or something like that, not you staying up at 5 am 😂, and Edward roasting Robert, and idina gets her own SOLO ✨💅😭
(3) I’VE ALSO HAD WAY TOO MANY mental breakdowns 😂
Fun Fact: Reacting to movies can make you predict storylines faster trust me I have this superpower as well…
When i saw this on the commercial break of my TV I was so confused and thrilled
idk if i should just skip it and watch along with you! been too busy to even watch a full movie 😭💀
Go watch the movie first!! This video will still be here 💕
I am pretty sure Robert was barely seen because he’s a prince in the wish and a dad and those are NeVeR really seen in a Disney princess movies except for minimal amount of times IF he’s not already dead lol
Wow the actress who played Morgan really looks similar to the original actress

One of the movers is played by Matt Servitto, who also appeared in Enchanted as one of the guys by the manhole cover
I love how you say that you're loving how grounded it is in reality..... RIGHT before reality becomes fantasy
My personal favorite song in this was the double-villain style song. I genuinely want to see more rival villains
The entire og cast aged like fine wine
27:13 the real world is absorbing all the magic. And since everything in Andalasia is magic everything in Andalasia is coming over to the real world.
Pip is definetly banging that lightning bug 👁👁
Yeah, this just wasn't it for me. I mean, I liked it enough, but Enchanted just set such a high bar when it came out, and that's tough to beat. I thought the baby plot was useless, the music (barring "Badder") was just average, the villain was weak, and the magic worked too conveniently for there to be any real conflict. Even the animation parts looked lackluster. What I did love was the main 4 cast members who returned (truly, James Marsden is so gorgeous).
I'm so happy to see you're reaction. I have been waiting for this film to come out, and it was gonna. Like a fever dream, but the first film is much better in my opinion.😄
Been waiting for a sequel to the movie for 15 years at least
Anyway this looks like fun, and I hope you enjoy it.
So Sofia is a baby who gets a wishing wand...
1. What would Morgan get since she's a teenager?
2. That's kinda rubbing it in Morgan's face when she doesn't get anything
Your videos make my day better from your voice to your smile and I just recently started watching your videos and already obsessed ❤️🫶🏻
Omg 🥺💙 thank you, you're so sweet 😭
My first video I watched of yours was the Mamma Mia here we go again one and I was obsessing over the guys and lily James and Amanda
Did anyone notice that they changed Nancy's eye color in her cartoon form? In the first Enchanted Nancys cartoon eyes are brown, just like Idinas eyes in real life... but now they're just blue? Strange choice to make.
Didn't even notice that.
i think the hair is also lighter, could just be if she got lighter hair irl i don’t remember but her hair was black and her eyes were brown
I wish it were more like the first movie where they were poking fun or satirizing typical Disney fairytale tropes. This just felt like a bunch of tired tropes and Disney Easter eggs
Your look is giving Evie from Descendants and that's iconic.....
I've never seen Descendants 😅
Thank you for referencing once upon a time about magic comes with a price. I adore you so much and I love your videos😭❤️
I was rewatching this last night and although I loved it you can't beat the 2007 one,as the songs were more memorable and everyone (including Robert and Edward) had more screentime. Sure Idina Menzel wasn't in the original one for that long(I think she had like 3 scenes) and that was it.
Back to the sequel l think evil Giselle is Narissa from the 1st film.
yeeeeeeeeeees i just watched this movie a few days ago and was like ''i cant wait to watch Sophia's reaction to it''!!!
Hehehe I'm just predictable 🙈
@@SophiaPhannn i think it's just cause it's right up your alley lol also because of your reaction to the first one✨
I know I'm late to this reaction lol but I think people expected way too much out of this sequel. Of course it was never going to be as good as the original, enchanted is amazing. But for what this is it's great, it focuses on the beautiful relationship of Giselle and Morgan. I do wish we had a little more of Giselle and Robert but I got why they weren't the main focus.
I used to be terrified of butterflies because of that spongebob episode, now only scared of moths😅
12:55 not a change. Watch the original with subtitles on. You can make out some of what he's saying when he slows down.
Hadn't seen your hair before, it suits you, you look gorgeous:)
Thank you 💙💙
I might have preferred it if Morgan was messing with the wand, only to cause all the trouble in this film
I loved this movie y'all 😭👏🏾❤️
Yay I was wondering if you were going to react to this so glad you did❤
You predicted the ending so well!
TBF suburbs near the city aren't that boring. I grew up in a suburb just 30 mins away from Washington DC.
For some reason, I thought they were pretty far from the city until Robert talked about commuting. And then it made me think like huh, Morgan can just visit the city on the weekends LMFAO
omg unrelated to the movie but that spongebob episode traumatised me and ive been terrified of all insects, especially butterflies.
To set up a future continuation for the franchise with Sofia as the protagonist
Maya Rudolph is so incredibly hit or miss. She seems to have three version of funny that she can do that's about it. Often times when I see her in things I think, "They ran out of money or couldn't sharst in anyone better."
As someone born and raised in NYC I'm tired of the "we can't raise a kid in the big bad city" trope. Why y'all hating on my home? So rude
im gonna get attacked for saying this, i thought disenchanted was entertaining and ofc visually beautiful but it lacked the charm that enchanted had :(disenchanted has its cool moments but i dont feel much for this film. Looking at it, i think a few things would've worked theoretically when they were in their ideation stage but execution was not that successful. I also thought the comedy was not it for me, some parts were a bit funny but majority of the "funny" lines were unnecessary/ cringey
I agree! It will never live up to the first movie, but I'm glad that it wasn't complete garbage 😂
