Hello! Several episodes of this series have already been recorded (you can see them on Patreon!) so while I encourage and appreciate tips and suggestions just know I won't be able to act on them for a while in this run by which time they may be irrelevant.
I loved watching your Age of Wonders 3 videos and now seeing you up against Age of Wonders 4. You have a very pleasing voice and a great knack of talking us through your decision making in detail. You certainly deserve the position of showcasing the updates to this excellent game for the developers.
If you're Evil as a 'High Society' and all your units start out Awakened, doesn't that mean that you don't need to waste resources specifically to Awaken them through combat? So for example, your Archers will always be +1 to range without the buff spells/abilities you'd need to spend alongside their resources? Is there a way (I forget, maybe I should play another round of the game) too 'de-awaken' a unit to lose these buffs? My only real complaint with this game is that the Fiend units to me look a bit too cartoonish, like the Balor, and not nearly enough badass.
Yes that's the idea, but it's pretty easy to Awaken things. Your leader and support unit have a free action to Awaken two (which your heroes can also get) and your battle mage unit has a free action to Awaken one. You also have an early spell to Awaken in an area. It's not *bad* I just think it's generally outshined by the economic bonuses of the others. I'm glad it's there for roleplaying evil High culture though.
Barbarians have high draft and are very straightforward. No fancy mechanics, i.e. the AI does better with them (atleast I'd think so). The AI can't really utilize spellcasting societes very well as it just runs it's casters into melee range..
I prefer to play with never hero resurgence as it seems cheap. I would say its probably a difficulty nerf. The AI will get their rulers killed quite often with it off, so it hinders them more than you.
I don't think order is suitable for fightig 6 players. Your city states are bound to be bullied. Meanwhile you will be attacked early and are required to conquer cities. I know AI won't attack much far from their own territories, so a good strat would be to not necessarily boost your economy but instead be ready to brawl early.
Hard disagree. AOW3 was a great game. AOW4 isn't bad either it's just a different kind of game. It sucks storytelling took a backseat, but the devs clearly want to have this game last a few years instead of the community being dead two years after release.

Why is the dragon hero so weak?
Did you choose Barbarians for most of the enemy factions because that's how a High culture would view almost all other cultures?

It feels like normal is harder then the other modes 😂😂, the maurders wiped out like 4 AIs and i won like that

Age of Wonders is a dead license after shadow magic.
Instead of just improving it, they keep making bad games like AOW3 & 4.
