Something I noticed while watching, was that Sae it was the only player drawn without a single drop of sweat or wrinkle on their clothes at the end of the match

This has been something common on the series to demostrate power level. The other times this happens that i remember was the world five match, and the first match again Rin on 3 on 3.
sae wasn't sweating because he is a new gen 11, you will notice more in season 3

3:55 yep youre right... Muneyuki Kaneshiro, the author of Blue Lock worked on two action-horror mangas called Jagaaaaaan and As The Gods Will. While Yusuke Nomura, the illustrator/artist of Blue Lock did Dolly Kill Kill and he was also the assistant of Hajime Isayama for Attack on Titan, another action-horror manga.

The most underrated performer this game i think is Reo, he singlehandedly stopped a player the whole defense wasnt able to stop, plus blocking and saving a TON of shots
I agree completely about the animation. The first couple episodes were a little rough, but the cinematography and high-quality illustrations really carried the lack of motion for most of the season. The pick up in the last few episodes was nice though.

We have to acknowledge that rin and isagi were the best players this match, isagi connecting with everyone with rin with yukimiya with bachira in the beginning and nagi isagi was all around the entire match and rin got his goal early but also went super crazy at the end; we should also acknowledge how he made all the defenders use their specialties and continued to make sae use his special move as well which surprised sae because he realized at that moment for that second his brother surpassed him. Then all that leading to isagi scoring the final goal. It was beautiful
Facts. I never thought going into it Isagi would end up the clutch MVP of the match but here we are.
2:45 Rins eyes here always felt like all consuming whirlpools to me. Which I feel is fitting since he’s always has a water theme to all his moves. But now the usually calm and tranquil Rin has turned into a violent and rapid body of water.
Something great about the last goal it's how Isagi manage to understand the situation in seconds and dicide to stay in the offensive. The only one who constantly believed in his goal till the end was he. The fight between Rin and Itoshi was understood from Isagi pov, that's why the snow where puzzle pieces. As if Isagi was expending his domain and making his last and best move.
I loved how it seems like Rin slides Itoshi's head with the ball. Very "samurai duel" like.
The fact that isagi is allways listening and in the search of improve. He literally win the match the same way he lost to rin in s1 with the "luck" element. Thats is cinema!

During that one 1 on 1 clash between Sae and Rin, Sae only had his aura shown for a small moment where he had to go all out against rin, showing that he indeed needed to be serious to win that fight.
Can we please put some respect on Anri name?? She created the Blue Lock proyect and hired Ego to help her win. This victory is the culmination of all her hard work.
Yea right I mean if it wasnt for ego picking isagi and anri being hesitant and deciding to not pick isagi for the blue lock project today times would be different where alot of people like nagi barou bachira reo even rin wouldnt be today what they are bcz of isagi also this match would be 4-2 so put respect to the man ego himself he is the reason blue lock won

Thank you for the wonderful reaction of this series, coach! As you predicted, the author of Blue Lock was previously a survival gerne mangaka, so he loves to use exaggerated expressions (like veins popping off) on characters to show the intense moments. And I really like how you can related to Rin's developments as a player through your own experiences since ppl usually get distracted by his madness and rarely recognize his suffering of losing his only mental support which is his big bro (mostly because of Rin's awkward nature that ppl tends to avoid him since young, which makes Sae the only one he depends on from that point), and also connect it to Nagi and Reo's relationship because their ways of being the other's source of motivation are very similar. I also enjoy the commentary on the arts instead of always focus on movements as well! I'll be looking forward to your Solo Leveling reaction, and as well as Blue Lock ss3 reaction if they plan on doing it!!

Fun little fact: if you were to go back and follow the Long grey haired girl and her date. As the game goes on, she gets more and more involved in the game. In the beginning she was indifferent and there just for the event. By the end she is totally engrossed in the match
Funny yo mention bullying, I feel that Isagi's bigger rivals also try to intimidate him with their physicality on the field, but with his smarts, effort, and dedication he just manages to outdo them.

Hi Coach, just wanted to add something that you might have missed:
Sae Itoshi's style of soccer is passive, counter-dribbling where he takes the most efficient route to dribble past someone. In other words he analyses your patterns and destroys you with your weak point.
Meanwhile Itoshi Rin's style is more "insane and destructive" because instead or capitalizing on someone's weakness like most people would, he bets that he can beat the opponent at their greatest strength, so he draws them out. Essentially hes literally the best at every skill: better than the quick footed defender at acceleration, better than the monk guy at getting behind opponents, better at dueling than the doberman guy, hes even better at dribbling than yukimiya, charging than barou and the list goes on. its insane that while every other character excels at one or two things, rin excels and is BETTER in every single stat and skill.
In my Opinion, the design with rin's eyes was definitely representing a water whirlpool, since its visualized that rin's kick's are calm and cool like water, and rin going berserk represents a unstoppable whirlpool.
Rin's flow is all about bringing out someone's best and destory it. And what sae did was his classic nutmeg that he had done to rin twice. Rin finally learnt how to stop it (plus he is in flow so he basically gets a boost in power). It was very satisfying to see.

Yes coach, Kaneshiro (The guy who created blue lock) did some horror manga's back then before he created blue lock.
And during the Final Matchup, they did use a different animation style called Kagenashi which basically means in Japanese (Shadowless).
And yes, that person who you saw exit the wild card is kunigami.
his flow state is called "Destroyer" because he destroys everyones weapon or atleast thats what alot of people call it. They also call it "Disgusting flow" because he says he wanna puke
A lot of people miss this but Rin actually blocked Saes nutmeg. The same nutmeg that he used in the backstory and the same one that he used earlier this match. Rin was ready the 3rd time around
Interesting that you mention an animal motif for Rin, because in the one Additional Time segment you missed, Nagi said that Rin's animal motif is an "RPG endgame - failed experiment slime monster" who's repeating Rin's catchphrase: "lukewarm, lukewarm, half-baked, half-baked".
There's also an interesting design element to note that Sae's aura of numbers, is supposed to be the Fibonacci sequence, related to the Golden Ratio, representing Sae's methodicalness and philosophy of causing "beautiful and calculated destruction".
I always think about Karasu motivating his team by breaking his usual speach pattern in the final play. The fandom has always theorized he should be the "captain" of Blue Lock and after that line in audio, I feel it.
Ego's fist pump was poster worthy for me, and as I found out recently, I have the closest birthday with him of all BL characters, and also the closest birth year too.
Interesting fact about the new character in the hype for season 3: He's voiced by the legendary Mamoru Miyano, who you would recognize as the voice of Atsumu Miya from Haikyuu. That tells you everything to expect from him.

The lack of shadows in sae and rin's 1v1 is a Japanese animation style called the kageneshi style. It's a style that lends itself to fluid animation because the drawn shadows are minimised to save time and make it easier to animate. The fact that they used it is proof that they were on a tight schedule to produce the episode but that doesn't change the fact that it's amazing to see when it's used sparingly in animation.
I still think it's funny that she doesn't even think rin is mad at him. that he just thinks it's him going through his emo phase

4:02 so somebody can correct me on this if I’m mistaken, I believe the artist for blue lock is the same as the one for another series, Jagaaaan (if not the art, the story) either way, it was a more horror focused action manga that carries over a lot of the same ideas that blue lock presents. Definitely give it a read if you ever get the chance, the topics are a bit sensitive in the vein of berserk but the that’s why you might see some influences from horror in blue lock
this solidiefies Rin as a masterclass character for me, so excited to see him along with the other instant goat, Isagi Yoichi
The eyes are very important for the other stage of the series. In this match the eyes were in a state of flow.

It's still the same principle, coach understands it too, Rin knows their strengths therefor he is able to exploit the weak gaps between them. e.g. Neru not being able to change directions mid stride like Barou, Darai being stopped from disengaging to get behind and Rin using him as a spring board, tipping Nio off balance from below after commiting to an allout top heavy tackle.

yes, you're right, the manga authors did a lot of horror stories before bluelock. that's why the art style looks so different to other sports series.
Fun fact: Rin canonically enjoys horror movies and games! So the horror vibes are very appropriate for him

S2 of blue lock has been awesome, even with rough start it got better with time. However since you're done, I highly recommend Ace of Diamond, my favorite sport anime and it has THE BEST COACH. Trust me
I STRONGLY recommend - to some capacity - reading or looking up artwork of solo leveling in the manhwa. The anime looks great, but the artwork in the drawn median is so fantastic and full of detail.

idk if you decided what you are watching next, but I would like to recommend Eyeshield 21.
people complaining about still images don't understand that the animators had to choose between mediocre animation with no detail or no animation with insane detail. they couldn't ever pick both, and they made the right choice. the few moments they got away with animating somewhat better while keeping the details (shidou's goals) made it worth the suffering of staring at a powerpoint. besides, even without movement, they managed to maintain the authors' style that is clearly influenced by horror manga, and that shows just how much they loved working on this project.

Initially, I wanted the next anime you would react to to be Ace of Diamond or Demon Slayer. But a few days ago, with the second season of Solo Leveling, I changed my mind. I think with Solo Leveling, we will be able to see a new side of you, Coach. We have heard your athlete’s perspective, your Coach’s perspective, and your animator’s perspective. In the duel sequence between Rin and Sae a certain animation technique called “Kagenashi” (means “Shadowless” from Japanese) is utilized. By reducing shadows and details, the focus is put onto the movements and silhouette. It results in animation being smoother and more emotional, expressive in its movement. The technique is often used young animators.
Dont like being that guy, but I really wished they expanded and explained the whole "monster" mode Rin went through like they did in the manga which made the monster mode more hype when it happens.
