    Loved the Max Biaggi reference. Biaggi in red, Rossi in yellow, lime green and blue, for years and years, was memorable, even to a huge Formula 1 fan, who tended to only have Moto GP on in the background.

    Goff is going to surprise you this year. Yes, on paper the receivers aren't great but watch.. PA offense with all that speed at receiver will make for some big plays and St. Brown is going to have an excellent rookie year

    The other aspect of this rebuild strategy that wasn't mentioned is the correlation between instant impact, win totals, and draft position. Building from the trenches keeps your ability to draft higher in tact since they take longer to develop. If the Lions focused on skill positions first, they may increase their win total by 1 or 2 and decrease their draft position, making it harder to draft top trench talent.

    @64, been a Lion's fan since 10 😥. Now there is a plan. Lions couldn't run to the right side, if at all. Now, w/Sewell u balance the run (r & l) & pass. On D, Lions were passive containment & DBs were crucified. Now you bolster the interior D (Brockers, McNeil, Levi) to stop the run, stand up Flowers & Romeo, & u have an ATTACKING front line. Compare Lions D to NO (esp Lions vs NO in 2017). They will surprise many this season I think! 🤔 Sheila's rebuild began 1st in the administrative offices and then outward! 👍🏿

      @@theronin9984 I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. Most so called experts are predicting only 3 wins. PFF rates them as the worst team in the NFL. Campbell will be long gone before they turn around. On a positive note ... Sewell was the smart way to go on draft day.

    • @footballrealitycheck9927
      @footballrealitycheck9927 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sewell has never blocked a NFL caliber player, moron. That may have very well been a totally wasted pick on a bust blocker. While I do think the Lions upgraded at QB with a QB who can actually win playoff games, they got rid of all their receivers in a signal that they aren't really trying to win.

    • @nh7382
      @nh7382 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@footballrealitycheck9927 So I'm a moron because YOU don't agree with MY OPINION? WOW! It's an opinion dude. As for opinions there is no way in hell Goff is an upgrade over Stafford! Stafford will light up the NFL this year with the Rams ... people are saying he is actually a "darkhorse" MVP candidate.

  • @robe2504
    @robe2504 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think the Lions could be an awkward team to beat this year, and ironically, that Goff could have a decent season behind a great O Line, while Stafford might struggle behind an aging and declining line...

    The receiver take is just a lazy take, if you’re a play action heavy offense which the lions will be allah the 49ers of a couple of years ago or Washington with cousins, having a true number one isn’t necessary right away. If the the oline is top 10 and having a tandem of swift and Williams you’re talking what goff has to attempt 20-25 passes a game and if he can complete what 67%-70% and the defense isn’t the worse defense in football like it’s been the last two years you’re gonna have at least 5-6 win team that will not be the worst football team like u guys keep assuming they will be.

    We can grab a receiver rn N’keal Harry at big slot with that 4.5 speed and his hands he could cause problems with the speed help he would have on the outside cuz u cant leave Perriman 1-on1 or Tyrell Williams

  • @KHMakerD
    @KHMakerD 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think it’s sort of deliberate. My hypothesis is that they took guys who were likely to be better at their position, which happened to be mainly trench guys.

    • @theronin9984

      The probs w/the Lions really were in the trenches!! Patty's idea of a 3 man rush/no blitz was both infuriating & absurd!

  • @msabercr
    @msabercr 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The model for building in the trenches (specifically the Offensive side of the trenches) is Dallas, and we have seen how that has worked out for them, so...
    No not genius by itself. Just a way to do it. Now if they focus on QB and building the secondary and D Line depth next year than yes.
    If your just building O line and depth over and over every year, that's quite useless.

    2019 49ers point out the True Number #1 receiver dont tell me u need a true number 1 to win Emmanuel Sanders was past his prime still effective but a great #2 deebo basically plays RB/WR, Kendrick bourne i mean cmon now, they’re number 1 receiving threat was a Te and Hockenson is gonna explode run game, play action, Screens, defense, and Goff who is a more than capable Qb with all the experience will get you far

    The Lions picked best player available. EVERY guy they picked, they did not expect them to be there and they stuck out like a sore thumb at the top of their draft board. Campbell and Holmes were in heaven at the completion of the draft. There was no conscience strategy nor is there a mentality that they are going to just win in the trenches. Detroit is looking for fast, talented players at all positions with a football players mentality. Don't underestimate Detroit's passing game. They also have Swift and Williams who will also contribute to the passing game. And Amon-Ra St. Johns will be their leading WR in the slot. Tyrell Williams is a legit #2. Hockensen is an awesome target at TE and Fells is a touchdown machine. Detroit is missing that WR#1. Their offense will be mid-tier.
