In real life this is absolutely a thing (called "taking the air off someone" in NASCAR), BUT it seems like Forza intentionally overdid it to use it as a rubberbanding mechanic in online races. Weird.
Yeah, it's at super close bumper to bumper type ranges. In Forza it has been toned down a bit since launch, but as soon as someone is within .2-.3 seconds, you lose a bunch of rear grip. The funny thing is, that there is almost no dirty air effect for the following car. It had been theorized that the following car even gained grip, which a long time ago i had dismissed buit am starting to re-evaluate based on weird things in happening in races.
Very informative video, I watched start to finish, no blinking, didn't take my eyes off the screen, I was locked in. I appreciate all the intricate details of the video, the messages on screen helping me understand your thought process and hypothesis, truly top class. I expect you shall make it big as a TH-camr, even if your driving skills are SEVERELY lacking :)
Chaser, I’m right there with you. ESV Green’s video was a riveting display of pure, unfiltered talent. His commentary, the way his presence was felt in every silent moment, was nothing short of mesmerizing. The precision with which he navigated the empty track, was truly a sight to behold. And let’s not forget the way he highlighted every nuance of that single flaw of Aero Wash-it was like watching a masterclass in game design critique. Honestly, I think we've just witnessed the next big thing on TH-cam, "built from the ground up" and ready to dominate.
Good work man. I really feel there is even more going on than aerowash. Another player had mentioned increased grip when following a car. I had dismissed it, but with a lot more playing time I am starting to believe it. I was racing an endurance race at Road Atlanta in GT2, chasing down a guy of about similar pace. Everything was going fine until I passed him and then it for a period it was like I had no grip even though I had gotten out of draft range. Did I lose grip because i took the lead? Or did I lose extra grip I had following. I've noticed this in races where I will get tired of being aerowashed and let someone pass and get over a second lead and almost invariably they are suddenly all over the track and struggling to keep the car inbounds. Whatever it is, there is something fishing going on.
I have no proof, but I feel like yes. If you're braking behind someone you take more time to stop. Could be due to the extra speed, but if they did it right there's also loss of front grip
Yeah i struggled with this a lot when i did play. World have solid ass times for my skill range (below shmeiges pace by a few secs since i couldnt figure out proper tuning) and would be slipped off a corner in a battle doing the same pace as before. And the other things this game sucks for made me uninstall. Gonna be trying more acc after my vacation

Great video. Aero wash, the penalty system and some of the curbs have to be fixed. So frustrating at times.

They say they fix things, but they don't.
AI still brakes unnecessarily in career, but they said they fixed it
0.2~0.15 difference in 26.5 lap is insane. This has to be adressed.

Jeez, this seems more like reverse rubberband than aerowash. Regardless, not fun
The M8 surely would've been the best car to demonstrate this in? Since that's the worst car for aerowash
Yup pretty BS game feature for sure!! Defeats th purpose of racing altogether it's painful lol
what about dirty air? do following cars have less downforce, too?
I have no proof, but I feel like yes. If you're braking behind someone you take more time to stop. Could be due to the extra speed, but if they did it right there's also loss of front grip
Any way to "tune" it out or even make it worse? Is the gap larger in you run no aero or full aero? does the chase car aero matter?
this nonsense still in that pile of steaming crap? lol
