    Thank you for visiting Hokkaido! The first car's shape with the high cockpit is for protecting a driver in case of accidents. There was an accident with a car at a crossing before, which injured the train driver severely. After that they adopted this design cause the train goes through wilderness areas with many wild deers and the visibility gets low due to snow in winter.

    Good video as always! Pay attention to a thing: the footrests in the Japan trains have two sides, the exterior one can be used with your shoes on, but the interior one can be used only without the shoes!! This way it stays clean for other people which rest their feet without shoes.

    As usual thanks for the video mate. As someone who loves japan, and is unable to travel there because of money or even get a job there due to language barrier and others and and! I love travelling via trains. These videos really help me! Thanks again.
    Also one suggestion I would like to suggest is the shinkansan from niigata to tokyo. The shinkansen on that line uses the old 97 model, and the advantage of that is it has very big windows! Although it's the slowest of all the shinkansen at 220km/h but it is really nice. The new shinkansen model has smaller circular windows.

    I have started to ignore the Shinkansen trains for sightseeing when on holiday in Japan except for Tokyo - Osaka. The new lines are mostly sections of long tunnels (20-30km) connected together with a few km of open track, so you see almost nothing. They are good to get you between places quickly but you don't see much out of the window on the newer Shinkansen lines.

    • @wasmic5z
      @wasmic5z ปีที่แล้ว +1

      KiHa isn't a company. KiHa (きは) is just a part of the abbreviation system used for Japanese trains. This train has the first class car (green car) named KiRoHa 261-200, and the other cars named KiHa 26x-y00, with x = 0 or 1, and y = 1 or 2.
      The Class 261 trains were built by JR Hokkaido itself (21 trains) and by Fuji Heavy Industries (14 trains), and the car bodies were designed in cooperation with the Danish State Railways.

    Interesting tidbit pertaining to Japanese railways - only the Shinkansen uses the standard 1435mm (4ft 8 1/2in) gauge. Outside the Shinkansen, any other railway will almost certainly be 1067mm (3ft 6in) narrow gauge, though there are exceptions.
