I ended up making a new engine wiring loom myself. Not as bad as it sounds. Just bought lengths of all the colours and the correct connectors. I wrapped it all in Tessa Tape. Got abuse from the Americans about not using the proper sheething but the authenticity ship sailed a long time ago....

Lol, authenticity ship made me laugh :) mine loom is hard as nails… but one problem at a time :)

The engine sounds great and quiet after the oil change, and man is that a tight craw under the car to do that. Nice work tracking down the fault to the dash cluster.

Thanks Christian, very pleased with the engine now :)

You did well, Todd. It never is a waste of time since the only correct knowledge is the experience. This way your car will not have any secrets to you anymore. And dare to dare. I did also everything myself on my 928S, and the germans made everything technically correct: Deutsche gründlichkeit 😊

Just my scenario. I bought my 91 last year and just did the TB. Did the caps, rotors and plugs while in there. Found 3 plugs loose in the holes even though it ran fine 2500 km home. I torqued those babies to 18 ft/lbs per manual. Last guys might have gone "just tight" as well 😂

      Hi Dave,
Yeah, after my little adventure (episode 2) I tend to treat spark plugs quite carefully. :)

Oh man. Back to review episode 2. My gray hair doesn't allow that much retention 😅

Spark plug looks good Todd... Engine is running sweetly... I think I will start soldering electrical connectors like you do as they can be a pain in the backside if just crimped.

Thanks Neil, from what I know the plugs are about right yeah soldering feels more reliable. When is your long roadtrip?

Oh wow! Good luck :). I would like to do a big drive in mine, just need to put it back together first!

Soldering electrical connections is the way forwards. Takes a bit more time, but they're so much more reliable. You may not have fixed it, but you know where the issue is now!

Hey Todd! Been following you for a while and watched many of your videos, you’re very thorough. I have a 79 manual here in Los Angeles with 69k miles and I’m having fuel issues, but I’ve been through the whole system! Anyway you would be willing to chat with me? I’d really appreciate your insight! Either way, thanks for the great content.
