Awesome video! Suggestion: mix your audio into Mono and use a compressor next time to eliminate the phasing/panning effect you're getting from talent getting closer/further to lav mic. Might be better to use a difference mic set-up next time. Maybe a boom mic overhead to prevent amplitude changes when talent turns his head.
Thank you for the IPP2 section! Makes it so much easier to explain to others, to just show this video. And maybe make an annotation on the Scarlet-W at 27:30, as it's a 5K camera, not 6K.
Thank you so much for this informative content, but maybe you could elaborate or demonstrate on how Apple Pro Res removes the crop factor as what you have mentioned. Nevertheless, really appreciate this setup guide as I'm preparing for my first shoot with the Epic-W tomorrow.
Thanks a lot! Learnt i wanted to know. Do you plan to make a video about the difference between Helium and Monstro sensors? Or could you write in two words here, please!)
on the specs it says you can shoot up to 120fps @2k apple pro res. is that a feature available now or no? I tried setting my cam up this way but will not do it .
agree but if you were to buy one I would get a Red, just because it's small and does several resolutions and cheaper with less of a rental mark-up. The Arri is insanely expensive when you actually look into!
Thanks so much for this video, it's better than the RED class; I'm serious. Just to clarify, the 8k Helium sensor is the same size as the 6k Dragon sensor, at 1.3 crop from full frame, and the Dragon Vista Vision 8k sensor is Super35 (1.6crop)?
Good questions. The Weapon-W is basically the same camera but faster data processing. So it can handle slightly lower compression ratios and faster frame rates. But it's a lot more $. Also, the weapon is available as a carbon fiber body so it can be very lightweight. And yes, the older DSMC body original Epic can upgrade to a minimag reader, but it doesn't get the speed / compression ratio advantages that a DSMC2 style body gets.
For some reason the adoption of 23.976 fps (23.98) has become an accepted norm, when cinema sound speed is true 24.00. Why would anyone want to shoot in 23.976 fps anyway ?????
This was great! I'm a 1st AC and using the Helium for the first time this week. Cheers!
This is the best video I’ve seen on red cameras. Excellent job!!

Thank you so much! This channel is awesome!
You are amazing man! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us! keep up the good work.
Thanks man. U r a great teacher 👍😊
can you do a tutorial on the focus features and how to use them
Thanks for your review!
This video is oddly panned (audio) to the left
Wrong department, this is a camera dept meeting
Hello, great tutorial! If I was going to use 4k what would you suggest for compression? 8:1?

So for someone who doesn't quite understand proxies, what are the pros/cons of shooting only R3D vs shooting only ProRes?
What is that big monitor behind you called because trying to buy those?
12:54 ELITE !
Thank you so much !
No camera man is harmed in making of this video😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Can u tell me the settings for sound? I dont know why sound is not playing here in my camera.
thank you for the info

the helium sensor still doesnt match the alev 3 sensor in dynamic range though

The new Panavision DXL2 uses a sensor from RED
Look at how many Hollywood movies that have been shot on Red.
@Nihal Dantluri Even Panavision is beginning to use red sensors
Thank you

Vista Vision is full frame and 8k Helium S35 is super 35
Nice channel
What is the difference between the RED camera Brains Weapon and the Epic-W? Is it true you can reconfig an original Epic with the new SSD?

THANK YOU
thnk you brianbox.. :)
Tnku so much
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was shooting Apple ProRes and it still windowed down my sensor when changing res??
I believe the prores is 2k thats why
thx a lot
Why subt?
Maybe you should show the Camera menu screen more than your face, because that’s what is important for and the reason to watch this video.
Is there not a TRUE 24.00 FPS setting on that camera ?
Yes there is!
For some reason the adoption of 23.976 fps (23.98) has become an accepted norm, when cinema sound speed is true 24.00. Why would anyone want to shoot in 23.976 fps anyway ?????
It is Arri ultra prime lense
how much are they to loan? and how much can you make shooting with it here in LA?
There's a retail store in LA, just look up RED store in cali. that might help you
thanks

IPPS2 !!!
I have no epic
Your video is great but the sound is mixed one side biased. Very unpleasant to hear.
going back and forth camera A and Camera B is very distraction
Your information is very good but the way you talk just makes people want to fall asleep....Try drinking Red Bull or something
😢. MIXIAOMI. 😢
