They all deserve to march in front of us serving Defence members. Great work Monty, Rayner maa. Thank you for considering me for the recent march in Gisbourne.

Thank you for sharing this taonga in memory of our Te Hokowhitu a Tu & 28 Maori Battalion Soldiers who fought bravely on the battlefield in WW1 & WW2...
Had goosebumps & raw emotions watching this in 2021 Anzac Day.

When the 28th Maori battalion returned home, they were made to jump from a moving train, while the white boys had parades.....citizenship lol

As a white New Zealander, I am ashamed of the way we treated the Maori people. I am proud of the Maori people and love them.

    Please don’t forget the Pakeha Battalions: 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, and 27th…..
My father fought in the 20th battalion ……he had Great Respect for the 28th Battalion. The 20th suffered a 39.6% KIA. The 20th Battalion was a South Island Pakeha Battalion. I am proud of my Pakeha family history.
So the 28th Battalion was a small part of NZ’s participation in WW2; but a well deserved one! But Please don’t forget the other 10 Pakeha Battalions, it about respect.

We didn’t need to prove citizenship.
