I grew up in Niger West, Africa among these people. Even though I grew up among the Wodaabe, it is tempting to see this video and look at them like strange animals in a zoo. It's important to remember that however foreign their body paint and strange rituals may seem to you, they are very real and very human. They don't just exist in obscure TH-cam videos. They have names and needs and dreams.

African historians, antropologists , archeologists , Egyptologists , scientists and researchers have to dig very deep into the origin , culture, history and Civilisations of these great Woodabe tribes who are nomads found in many Sahelian coutries such as Chad , Niger , Sudan who look very much like the ancient Egyptians we see on the walls of pyramids , temples and tombs including the Afar tribes of Ethiopia and Somalia.

@rahnyc4 The Wodaabe are from West Africa some may even say Northwest but still located in the West were they inhabit the savannas. Keep in mind they are nomadic and have no real set location which is why they are found in several countries the other poster mentioned. Your not entirely wrong for seeing that they look similar to East Africans because I read somewhere that the Fulani were believed to have originated from (Ethiopia/Upper Nile region) from depictions of Ancient Art. @rahnyc4 Either way they are African, all Africans are pretty much the one and same. We differ by culture etc. Genetically though we are literally brother and sister and any East African could pass for West and vice versa. Its only the whole tribalism,colonial/Imperialist views, and allowing others to group us that put Africans against each other. Those within and and off the African Continent I bet if you looked up Africas history before the 1500s I bet trivial thing like this didnt matter then

You don't know what you are talking about.. Check out what Bantu means via Wikipedia and learn, because ignorance is a dangerous thing. Whether people in West Africa are Mandinka, Bambara, Gurunsi, Soninke, Songhai, Hausa, Asante, Wolof, Fulani, Serer, Fante, Mossi or Kru, NONE of them are Bantu speakers. West Africans belong to Afro-Asiatic, Kwa, Gbe, Gur, Kru, Atlantic, Mande or Nilo-Saharan speaking groups.

Really sad in a way, if you have listened to the music of African American prison chain gangs from the 50s backwards one can directly see the eerie influence of this sort of singing in African American folk music and blues. Really makes the brutality of slavery hit home, you can imagine first generation slaves of the same background as the men in this video keeping their cultural alive passing on this musical style in a foreign language and foreign country knowing they were never going to return.

I like the video, it's very interesting, they are a very unique and interesting people. The earth is full of diversity and I'm glad for that. In response to a previous reviewer, according to a National Geographic Documentary, the human race is comprised of 28 or 32 different genetic groups. You will find every one of these genetic groups in Africa but the world outside of Africa is made up of only 4 of these genetic groups. That means that Africans are very diverse in their genetic make up. Meaning a North African is different from a south African as a west African is different from an east African. Unlike Europeans or European Americans that are not genetically diverse, eventually their gene pool will become very limited! and extinction is very near. Unless you breed outside your gene pool you'll go the way of the dinosaur.
