She's learned so much and is very wise to many things in the world, but it's to be reminded to us that at heart, she's still a little kid who was forced to live through the harsh reality for 20 years running away from the government, forced to age too fast, and not live happy during it. It puts a relief in her heart knowing what's to come from Vegapunk's side of the story.
Robin's past is definitely one of the most tragic and heartbreaking backstories in all of anime😢. She was hunted like an animal for 20 years, and had to endure hunger, pain and cold alone, with no one to protect her and no one whom she could trust. When Spandam was mocking Robin by reminding her of the 20 years of nightmare she had to go through, and she broke down crying, you couldn't help but to want to hug her and tell her it's okay.
Although Nico Olvia stated that she was unable to leave Robin with anything, I think Robin had inherited her wisdom and stregth of will. Robin's mother would be proud of her for not only surviving for so long but, also for continuing to chase her dream and keeping the legacy of Ohara alive.
When Shaka (Vegapunk 01) explain his truth to Nico Robin about his involvement with Professor Clover over Ohara and World Government, Robin's mother Olvia says her goodbye to her daughter as she was taken cared by Saul. 1:01. She cried over her past. 1:30. 😔.

Slightly off topic but I’m glad that Olvia isn’t just a stereotypical “anime mom”- she’s her own character with her own ambitions rather than just raising Robin. I think that makes this scene all the more painful- everything that she loved is collapsing around her, and her bond with Robin is more than familial, they also share that deep passion for history
The World Government has hunted Robin ever since she was a little kid, due to her archeology skills. Her mother died telling her to live no matter what is true proof her mother's spirit shall be forever watching over her forever is proof how much she TRULY cared for Robin!!
This entire episode was an emotional rollercoaster for both the audience and Robin herself. You rarely see her make so many and such emotional expressions, but I'm glad we got to see that side of her again. Just goes to show that you should never judge a book by its cover. Edit: the music in this scene, especially, at 0:56, just hit me really hard. Absolutely heart-wrenching, yet beautiful.
I think it was a cover story but I seem to recall that the books thrown into the water was recovered by the giants from I think the Water 7? Nonetheless, it was safely recovered by them.
Recognize you from the miri dawn video comments section! But yes this scene always kills me, Robin has easily one of the saddest backstories in One Piece 😞
Not since Enies Lobby has the little girl that Robin used to be come put again. Does Robin ever wake up and think "Hmm. I ended up looking and sounding exactly like my mother."
Sometimes i See how of a low effort is put into Character Personality, like when Nami and Sanji yelled at vegapunk 1 for making robin crying.Didnt they listened to the Story too from him,and did they know what that meant to her?
History shouldn't be destroyed it has a right to be accepted as is not what others think should happened the government had no right to destroy this island or its people because of the truth.
Ohara here reminds me of Nalanda University. It was among the greatest centers of learning in the ancient world. Burnt to the ground by the people who wanted to spread their beliefs and destroy existing knowledge.
It’s what the British did to most places they colonized. The Indian subcontinent was a bustling civilization of culture and thousands of years of history before the British converted it into a factory for their trading companies
Nami and Robin both lost pretty awesome mothers. Screw the wold government and the navy in this series. Then again, the navy isn’t one hundred percent to blame since it’s the world nobles running everything, and Carlos proved they’re all idiots, are corrupt, or both.
Possibly considering the recent chapters mentioned a scholar when the marine vice admiral doll was talking about sual another vice admiral mentioned a scholar but we didn’t get a name drop in so we either get a new character that will appear in the elbaf arc or olivia robin revealed to be alive and escaped Ohara destruction and fled to elbaf which would be a save heaven for her because the world government wouldn’t go near elbaf with the fear of provoking the giants into an all out war with them which they would not win

I knew it was coming and still teared up. This episode came out ages ago
Olvia telling Robin to live hits so hard since Robin would go on to tell Luffy how she wanted to die before/during Enies Lobby
it reminds me of how ere n mom said to him be for she got eaten
Eren mom = Stay alive Eren and mikasa
Eren = crying*
She lived a very horrible backstory, im glad she found the straw hats
Remember she told Luffy "I want to live!"? Now it hits different.
After seeing someone's tragic past, you get to understand them more. But it feels like the pain will never go away no matter how much we forget.
This flashback has been reanimated so many times and it's still peak every single time
That scene made me cry, Robin went through a lot. 😟
Robin's Mom would be happy to know that Robin lived and have friends who would do anything for her

She sure did. Perhaps Second to Law.
currently, kumas backstory has to be the saddest

Still makes me emotional, even though I’ve seen it a dozen times. Robin’s got the saddest backstory.
I think Law's another solid contender
💔Such a heart-wrenching episode, Robin's past always gets me.😢
Koby and unnamed marines: are we supposed to be the good ones

Great comment
The Saul/Robin reunion is going to be so emotional, I don't think my heart can handle it
Definitely one of the saddest backstories in all of one piece.
what were in those books.. was truly astounding.
Robin's story hits the hardest although all of them are tragic. Soul King was alone in the grave of his friends for decades.
Robin had a sad pass, her mom was a great mom. Robin is my favorite on the Straw hat crew.
The World Government has hunted Robin ever since she was a little kid, due to her archeology skills. Her mother died telling her to live no matter what is true proof her mother's spirit shall be forever watching over her forever is proof how much she TRULY cared for Robin!!

Man this is hard to not be emotional. Every time I am reminded of Ohara’s incident, it always hurt emotionally.
Robin and nami went through hell if they were real I grab all of them and never let go
my favorite part was when he said: stand proud robin, your mother is honorable.

My favourite one piece character: Emotional. D. Amage
Even when it's reanimated, this scene of robin's past still makes me shed tears😢
naaaah they cant just hit me with a piano version of the new opening song man
This was a hard scene to watch. Robin didn't deserve this. 😢🎉
Recognize you from the miri dawn video comments section! But yes this scene always kills me, Robin has easily one of the saddest backstories in One Piece 😞
I'm actually not sure Robin has cried since Ryunosuke and before Enis Lobby. It doesn't happened often.
Can we get much higher!!! So high!!’ Oh oh oh oh oh oh!! So high!! 😭
This moment is heartbreaking for me to watch
This chapter came to life just as I expected and yes I knew I would cry!!!!!
Not since Enies Lobby has the little girl that Robin used to be come put again. Does Robin ever wake up and think "Hmm. I ended up looking and sounding exactly like my mother."
Robin crying always breaks my heart 😢💔 of all the Strawhats, her struggles have always broke my heart the most.
I love that they remake these scenes, it really shows how far the art style has come 😊
This scene always makes me want to cry!!!
robin,s backstory is very sad
Man I still haven't watched the entire Water 7 arc and yet this scene still hits hard.
The moms of The Straw hats are never lucky when comes to living. Maybe its best we don’t know Luffy’s mother.
What happened to Zorro’s mom
The description box “Robin reminisces he past”
Das war wunderbar 😭❤❤ ich liebe Nico Robin
Seeing this makes me sad and feel bad for Robin.
Ohara still lives on
Robin's mother wanted her to pass the Ohara legacy.... That's why she wanted her to live ❤️🥲
Robin voice and crying is from the same girl who lost her dad in Wano the one always smiling. Listen carefully
Whenever Robin cries, someone needs to dealt with. Time for the Five Elders to go DOWN!
Robin 😢
Robin crying, and Luffy crying for real(and not for a gag) always gets me.
The straw hats sure have the best moms.
Robin is Ohara's will personified.
WHERE IS THE CLIP FOR THE STELLA DR VEGAPUNK REVEAL
Those damn onion cutting ninjas again 😢😢😢😢❤
So, Robin's mom is still tanned. =D
It really builds character
Honestly...I liked the idea that they never got to say goodbye. It made Robin's back story even sadder.
I never was particularly fond of whenever they reanimated earlier parts of the story, but damn this was good
Poor Robin Somebody Give Her A Hug 😭
Just realised that both her mum and her shared the same voice actress

The score really elevates this flashback to new heights, even if it’s not the first time we’ve seen it. This episode was peak
This shouldn't hurt to watch

Saul is a real one…..I cant wait to see him again….
Its so sad but at the same time its peak

Did they reanimate these scenes? If not it didn't make sense to change young Robin's original VA as they could just use that footage again

I also don't have a mother anymore, I know very well how Robin feels.

The death of good writing, when the author literally redoes a scene he wrote over a decade ago with some extra dialogue for the tears.

Why do I have the feeling that Olvia has survived Ohara's destruction as well. 🤔

I’m still wondering what tf happened to her dad.
So umm.. Spoilers??
it’s one piece and we never saw Olivia die so I’m thinking she is on Elbaf with Saul since Saul is confirmed alive.
