From what I understand, this is CIBC new headquarters. I read since the first Phase 1 opened, 19,000 CIBC employees, once spread across 18 locations now use this building for 9-5 and hybrid work. Instead of offices, they now have “ecosystems” for an open work environment.
CIBC left Commerce Court (at least mostly left I think they still have a few offices there but not many- these buildings will be their main offices consolidating everyone into one place)
@@Dgabit great :)if you have videos from 2020 and younger i am very interested. By example The Well in 2020 and 2021 + the KING ( 489King St W) 2023 and 2024.
Thank you! It's very interesting to see the construction work up close. 18,000 metric tons of structural steel, 12 embedded mega-nodes weighing from 18 to 40 tons. 12 steel nodes form the base of the bracing structure, providing connection points for steel beams that extend out to the edge of the building’s elevations. From there, another set of nodes are used to connect the steel beams, creating a plate of sorts, upon which the total load of the building will be laid and redistributed down to the core.
I tried searching but can't find any news on it, except CIBC will lease the building, so I'm assuming new tenants will move in. They are also going to demolish some smaller buildings and make a new 64 storey Commerce Court tower.
nothing is going to happen to them. in Toronto all the banks own dozens or even hundreds of buildings. these arent necessarily for their own workers. banks make money by owning office buildings and renting the space to dozens of other companies.
@@jasonnolan394 no it IS NOT you dummy! First Canadian Place is 23 metres taller. it is 298 metres vs 275 for Scotia. although when you look at them side by side it seems to look like less than that.
paid for by all the legally 'stolen' monthly fees from your average poor person who is forced to place their pennies in banks...these are disgusting sunblockers, but amazing feats of engineering...
banks dont just build these for themselves. they build and own real estate to earn money to pay investors or people like me interest when we loan the banks our money.
They say more than 19,000 CIBC employees-once spread across 18 locations-started spending their nine-to-five and hybrid working lives just at the first building so far. Yes we need to prioritize affordable housing, so much empty space in the city.
you have your information wrong bozo! this IS NOT going to be the tallest office building in Canada or Toronto. you are showing Phase II of CIBC Square. this one is in fact going to be shorter than Phase I. the tallest building is proposed to be built on the Commerce Court property 2 blocks north of here. you seem to have the 2 developments mixed up.
It's pretty crazy when you read about the building's "eco-systems" instead of offices and various other new age features. Reminds me of a college campus. The employees are probably happy.

Why does CIBC need another building? They already have Commerce Court.
The need to spend all of the bank fees they steal from us.

They have to have a building tall enough to store all the money they earn (steal)
They are going to need a couple more then.

Hi, great video! Could you please upload more videos of Toronto construction sites?
Thank you so much! Yes I will, I already have a list of sites to go and record.

Thank you so much for the nice comment!
This isn't the tallest office building in Toronto. The BMO tower is. It's 75 floors. This will be 50.
Yes thank you. I messed up the title, not tallest, but tallest under construction.

So what is going to happen to both the 57 story Commerce Court West and the historic 34 story CIBC building when this mega office tower is completed?

Isn't "The One" currently the tallest building under construction in Canada? Like 94 storeys tall?
Sorry for confusing title. The tallest office building under construction. The One will be the tallest building.
Thank you.
@@Dgabit What about The First Canadian Place? Isn't that an office tower as well?
Yes you are right, First Canadian Place and also Scotia Tower are the tallest office towers. Thank You.
The development at One Yonge St.will be 105 storeys .... it will be the tallest building in Canada and the Commonwealth.
First Can Place is 298m tall.
Thank You, this is the tallest currently under construction, sorry for the confusing title. Thanks.
when most blocks office ones are empty this is another dud in the making
Isn't BMO the highest ?
I believe Scotiabank Plaza is slightly taller than First Canadian Place. But now I guess CIBC wants to top that.
Sorry the title was confusing, yes you are right. This is highest under construction.
BMO is still the tallest office tower in Toronto. ScotiaBank comes in a very close second tallest.
Thank you.

Yes bank fees are the worst... and they do block the sun out of downtown. I do find the construction of these towers amazing to see though.
