The main character this time is Hideaki Mori from "MORISAN", a Kyoto Nishijin brocade weaver.
Kinran is a gorgeous and beautiful textile that uses gold and silver threads and foil and is woven so that the pattern stands out.
MORI, the representative director of Orimoto and the fifth head of the family, has another face.
"Kyoto Doll Master. Pen name is Heian Eisho."
For 5 years, he trained under a doll maker in Kyushu, and his career spans 25 years.
Heian Eisho dolls are attracting attention from the puppet world for their unique dignity and lively gold brocade costumes that were selected with the delicate sense of color cultivated as a weaver.
MORISAN, which has been in business since 1925, manufactures and wholesales Hina dolls and May dolls using weaving techniques. And MORI, the fifth generation, handles products that were not available in the previous generation. Small goods rooted in life such as paintings and accessories using Nishijin fabric.
With craftsmen getting older year by year and demand for dolls decreasing, what should be done to pass on the tradition? One of MORI's answers was to expand into fields where Nishijin textiles can be utilized.
We will approach the thoughts of MORI, who is the head of Nishijin Textile and is active as a Kyoto doll maker.
