David Schelzel has one of the greatest, most unique voices (very soothing too) on pop-rock!!! I'm 51, a longtime fan, and I simply can't get enough of it (and their lush melodies). One of the GREATEST American pop-rock bands EVER!
I too am 51, a huge, longtime TOB fan and listen to their amazing music as much as possible!! Still have the cd i bought in 1989 as soon as i heard their songs on the radio! Gonna have to hit them up on Facebook
+DrauLienz Some bands just didn't take off, despite having all the right elements in such perfect unison. Such was the case for TOB. Some people just "got it," but the majority did not. Their attentions were focused elsewhere.
unfortunately people gravitated towards the depressing, negative entity that was Nirvana because its more relatable than this even though this is musically far superior and uplifting.
They're STILL PLAYING and are STILL GREAT!!! Get Their ULTRA MARINE CD (2013) ROCKS like ALL their music! Hit them up on FB to keep in touch or their website! LONG LIVE 'REAL' MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DTD.
One of my all time favorite bands. These guys made simplicity, and poignance an art form. Great compositions, sincerity, and delivery creating a great musical experience. Today there is so much lost in over stating "nothing" these guys didn't pretend to be anything more important than a heart felt, thoughtful song. A time to explore inner reflection on personal experience. Create your own true meaning of their lyrics. Nothing "in your face" just sharing a special idea.
Have been an Ocean Blue fan since the first album and I saw them at LVC in Annville PA. Got to love the hometown boys. I try to catch them whenever they are back in the area. Kings and Queens shows their progression through music.
I saw them first time in Cincinnati when they opened for Tears for Fears in like 92. Then again a few months later in Cincy at Bogart’s. They blended theme from The Love Boat into Ask me Jon. Was awesome!!!!
It sounded very different when Rob Minnig was on drums, much more dynamics on the songs, I´m not saying that now sounds bad, and Peter Anderson plays good, but Rob Minnig was the hell of a drummer, he really gave to the band a much more interesting sound!! Does somebody know why he was out of the band??
As I recall, Sublime was actually their biggest charting song (according to Billboards) and I even remember hearing part of this song on Monday Night football game as they were cutting to commercial. This was their biggest song that got the widest amount of play. I get that you’re saying a “better” song. But, Sublime was always one of my favorites from any of their albums.
@@hisnamewasSam 'Between Something And Nothing' peaked at #2 on Billboard Alternative Songs (then Modern Rock Tracks) while 'Ballerina Out Of Control' and 'Sublime' both peaked at #3. My favorite out of all their songs will always be 'Drifting, Falling', which peaked at #10.
@@clvrswine LOL! I'll comment any time I want, Sheriff Blowhard. And reread my post (you can move your lips if you need to). I said they never got what they deserve, not that they were not popular.. Reading comprehension, semantics, not your strong points, huh? SMH

Yes they amaze me you can take all the different music in this world and none could ever match these four in The Ocean Blue
For a while I tought they were British.
True that ☝️
Conan had some great bands on his show, he knew good music
do you really think conan had anything to do with the bands or guests?
I’ve heard he is a good guitarist. You can see him asking David something about his guitar
Love 'Ocean Blue'...very clean, melodic and pure! Never a bad track!
You are absolutely right. There is not one song in their albums that feels like a filler.
Sadly, TOB's brand of timeless magic was quickly overshadowed by the juggernaut that was "grunge" that so dominated that era. Criminal.
John Ribner I agree.
Thank you, *****
That explains everything. So sad

My favorite band since they emerged in 1989 on MTV. Still their #1 fan after 32 years.
Great band and I’m glad David adopted the haircut I had when I was 6 ...

YES! Great post regarding the magic that is The Ocean Blue! 'Kilo Two Mike Bravo Sierra'.... cool! 73!
That's true, art for the masses
Well put, friend.
Man, these guys were always in my Walkman during my teens years.
I remember when I taped this on vhs! Lovely analog days when bands actually rocked. Still got the tape somewhere
I didn't know Lloyd Christmas had such a great voice. Amazing band!

I completely forgot that Bobby used to be on the left and Steve had an ironing board! 😂😂😂
I used to have a crush on David in the early 90s- here we are 2017 and nothing has changed.
Espectacular concierto en Asunción 04/06/2016
I saw them at the Chameleon in Lancaster hours after they performed this show. They played with Suddenly, Tammy! and Eureka Bone. What a great show.
I was there too. Fantastic show. Opening act Eureka Bone was good too

30 years, man.
Thirty. Years.
@@mikeedward9595 Been thinking about that today. Crazy
un video bien escondido ehh, gracias por compartir estas rarezas de este gran grupo TOB.
What a beautiful memory to take to the grave, along with the satisfaction of knowing I enjoyed this artistic piece in its time.
I have all their stuff, Great band
Two of my favorites. The Ocean Blue and Conan.
That is a good looking ironing board behind an ordinary looking synth played by the keyboardist of the best sounding band of all time.
Amazing David you always be beloved
Superb!!!!!
Sooo great!
Thanks for this, so amazing, saw them in Cincy back then
adorable mushroom hair
AHHH YES! A work of art!
I saw them first time in Cincinnati when they opened for Tears for Fears in like 92. Then again a few months later in Cincy at Bogart’s. They blended theme from The Love Boat into Ask me Jon. Was awesome!!!!
They still do the Love boat theme from time to time
I was at that Bogart’s show.
One of my favorite American bands.
One of my desert island bands. Like the Moody Blues they never had a bad album.
Nice bowl haircut too!
I've recorded this live and still have the vhs with it. Those were the days
30 years ago today!
The dance at 3:20 in the guitar solo is epic
That is such a solid performance! Very talented singers, musicians, songwriters, and composers. Do we still have that full package these days?
no
Steve was still around. Cool. Rock in peace, dude.
ugh, auauaua, no words
Fun times Rob, miss ya!

Rob was brilliant. His work on Cerulean is magnificent.
rob was as well as the keys and sax a crucial part
of the vibe.
Rob Minnig, a great influence: Mercury, Ballerina Out of Control, Between Something and Nothing 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🥁
Just saw these guys on Sunday, Nov 21, 2021. Another great live show. They are wonderful.
👍👍👍
En Perú se les conoce mucho
The boys from Hershey
It was sususubababalime!
this guy hasn't aged at all lol!
Perhaps but the cognizanti always have cool stuff on their radar ; it's 2017 and they are still at it
Reminds me of bands from flying nun nz
😎🤙
YES INDEED!!!
Cual es el nombre de la canción?
I saw them this very night at the Chameleon Club in Lancaster...they were so late arriving
JetPilot603 That's really all you have to say about the show? Hmmmm.
Awesome...haircut...
Who is that 2nd guitarist? Was he ever a regular member of TOB?
Oed Ronne, he was a backup but not official until Steve Lau (keyboards) left after this last tour in 1993-94. Oed has been with them ever since.
love the gretsch
Hey check out this late 90's christian band called The Small Town Poets, they are in this same category
the lead singer playing guitar like lead singer new order...
One of their favorite bands
SHOULD HAVE PLAYED A BETTER SONG ON CONAN....GOOD SONG BUT ONE SHOT......DRIFTING FALLING..OR BALLA
They were promoting the album that features this song. It's business, man.

yeah, Sublime was always a little cringe-worthy, personally. Business/single aspect aside, Either Or would have gained more fans, I think.

This band never really got their props. Same engaging pop rock vibe as Crowded House.
Wrong. They are very popular. Please don't comment if you don't know what you are talking about.

Weak !!!!
Your face is weak. !!!!
Rob Minnig on drums. He seems to have disappeared altogether from the music world.
