I can only speak for criminology I went to FSU for criminology best department hands down in the whole entire country. I went to grad school at FSU loved it excellent experience.
Anxious dad here...my son (class of 2021) has narrowed his selection to FSU while awaiting UGA decision in April. Looks to me that he’ll be in good shape with either school! His whole family is UGA (mom, cousins, etc.), but FSU (in my mind) takes no second seat. No disrespect to UGA, but if they don’t admit him, I’ll be proud to send him south of the GA border to join the seminoles.
FSU is a great school with a beautiful campus. It sounds like either way your son will have a great school to attend!! Goos luck with the school decisions!!
Hi Carley, FSU Is about an hour and a half from the closest nice beach, which is Saint George. Most of the big state universities are a few hours from the beaches. University of Miami is right next to Sourh Beach, but it has a very high tuition in comparison to the state universities like FSU, UF, UCF, UNF, etc I hope this helps. All are great schools though
@@smokugoku Hi, as I understand it it’s a combination of your high school GPA, ACT or SAT score, essay, extra curricular activities and leadership within those activities. It’s important to show that you are a “well rounded student”. Also, if you can get a position within a club or sports program that helps, ie the captain of the soccer team, or a position on the student council. If that is hard to do at your school, you could start a “new” club at your school as the president. Spend time on your essay and have other people proof read it and give you feedback before you submit it. Try to find and “angle” for your essay that sets you apart from the other thousands of students applying. It’s hard to do, but spend some time thinking about the “angle” before you start writing. I hope this helps and good luck! Also, if you are not happy with your ACT or SAT score, take it again another one or two times.
Hi, is FIU in Doral? I don’t know much about FIU to make a good comparison, but it seems that FSU might give you the traditional four year university experience versus FIU, which I believe is more of a commuter university? I was extremely impressed with FSU and thought it may have been one of the prettiest universities we visited. I I think both universities would be great options, but I would probably lean towards FSU if it were me. It’s always a hard decision, but you’re definitely going to choose the right one and once you get to your university, you’ll fall in love with it and the friends that you meet.
Hi, I am going to FSU and I am making a video for a scholarship I am applying too, I was wondering if I could use the b roll and drone footage for my video? If so, that would be amazing. I will give you credit in the video. I also hope to a digital media major so thanks for the tour. But I would love to be able to use the footage, thanks!
So one thing: the residence halls only accommodate for 6,387 undergrad students, but they have over 30k undergrads... does this mean most students live off campus?
Hi, many students move off campus after their first year into an apartment, sorority, fraternity, etc as you are correct, there aren’t enough dorms for everyone, but if you want to stay in the dorms after your first year you can if you want. Thanks for the question.
UF is a much larger campus versus UM. Both are great schools. UF has a great sports program, but UM. Has south beach. Both have great medical programs. Do you prefer a huge campus with a lot of students (UF) or a smaller campus with less people (UM)? Also, as far as cost, UF should be a lot cheaper than tuition at UM. I hope that helps a bit. It’s always a hard choice, but I’m sure you’ll love either school as they’re both fantastic.
Philospritual - Apologies, We made videos for both UF and FSU. In my opinion, FSU and UF are very similar in size and the comments I made regarding UF directly apply to FSU too. FSU is a great school and the campus was terrific. Probably the nicest campus we visited as everything seemed new very well taken care of. Price of FSU would be much lower than UM. UM is very close to south beach and would have great night life, but not just for college aged people. FSU has great night life with a ton of people whom are college age (35,000 students).
@@KeyWestSaltLife i want to study english literature and become an artist i feel like living in miami would be better for networking and getting stuff out there but fsu has a better english department the only thing i dont like about fsu is the location it seems like Tallahassee has no artistic scene while miami has a thriving one. I love the fsu school but i love UM's location im conflicted.
I agree with you on UM having a greater artistic vibe and being extremely close to the Art Deco area. I’m no expert, but my opinion would be that you would likely be better networked after attending UM after 4 years given the thriving art scene there and it being a smaller school. But again, you have to make the best choice for you given all of your personal factors and interests. I’m sure you’ll thoroughly enjoy either school you select. Best of Luck! It may seem like a difficult choice, but you’ll be a winner with either choice.

Thanks for the information Mike! I’m sure a lot of potential students will appreciate your insight on the criminology department
