Absolutely amazing scenery and great montage! Your pup is a trooper. What time of year did you do this loop? Planning a trip for later this year and trying to determine ideal months.
Thank you for the kind words! This trip was in late September. In my estimation, late Sept and early Oct are the sneaky best time to visit the Devils (depending on when the first snow hits). Windy Saddle usually isn't accessible until mid-June (although there are other low elevation TH access points--they are a grind, but an option if you want to sneak in early). Then the area can be pretty buggy into late July. It's also more crowded for my liking during that time. By late September, the people and bugs have cleared. I had the entire Loop almost completely to myself on this trip. It's such a special area--I hope you are able to visit it this year.
@@petemeighan2565 thanks for such a helpful reply! We were planning on early august but based on your suggestion I’m going to rethink and shoot for later in the season. Not many trip reports for this area so it’s nice hearing from someone who has actually done it :)
Absolutely! Most of the lakes in the area are stocked with Rainbow Trout (which are native to the area). A majority of the backpackers I encounter on those trails have rods, nets, etc strapped to their packs. I don't do a lot of fishing when I'm out on the trail, but it's something I'd like to add to my repertoire someday.
Awesome video!
I backpacked here in 1993 and it's spectacular.
I like how you labeled the peaks and lakes--helps loads with orientation.
Great video, thanks for sharing
Thank you! I really appreciate it!

Amazing country. Building trails through some of those rock slides had to have been a little scary. Does anyone fish those lakes?

This is awesome, ever encounter(or heard of any) bears in there?
Where are all the start of these trails
