Multiple paths, being able to see a restart checkpoint from the start and jokes related to getting banned, all while making a garbage, yet amazing level. This is the next level of the trolling meta. Edit: Fake flagpoles are a thing now. I like that.
Where would troll levels be today without the anti-softlock? I don't think this was the first use of them, but this was the level played by so many people with such a nasty one.
I used to play this game a few years ago, but never truly mastered it. Inspired by your videos, I decided to finally pull it out. My little siblings saw me playing it and expressed that they wanted to play it themselves. A week later, I found the disc stuffed in the back of the cabinet with a big fat crack in it. RIP.

I think he thought that the one and only troll would be for the player to miss the hidden flagpole and go through the key door, leading off to an entire different, unnecessary section of level, or just loop back to the start. The give-away for me was how far down the screen scrolled, when he came out of the pipe. I believe if that was the end+castle, the screen should only scroll down to have two rows of ground blocks?
Daniel Renard you can adjust the height of the end platform with the flagpole. So it can indeed screen scroll lower, some levels end with the flagpole up higher than others.
True. I'm no 'Mario Maker', but how far does the screen scroll down, when you land on (even elevated) ground by the flagpole? Looking at screenshots, I often see 2~3, rarely 4 blocks of ground, when coming from above, or same elevation. Only when a player comes from below, like having to perform a skilled game-mechanic jump to reach the flag, do I usually see the 5 or more rows. Here, it's a whopping 7.
Daniel Renard the vertical screen scroll behaves the same whether you’re at the end or not. There’d be no way to tell if it’s the real flagpole based on the vertical scroll, just he horizontal scroll (which this was placed in the correct place so that wouldn’t give it away. The only reason to doubt that was the real ending was on a psychological level (is it trolling with a fake flagpole or is the door the troll?) I have the game and am plenty aware how the flagpole works.

that was perhaps my favorite troll level ive seen on this channel its so complex and unique most troll levels use cheap tricks or the same tricks a lot and if theres a more creative one, it usually uses one gimmick as the troll but this level uses so many unique tricks... its a masterpiece

47:55 Not quite. What actually happens is that note blocks that are off screen don't release their contents when hit. If you go slow enough, the note block on tracks spawns, but it's still off screen when it passes under the muncher so it doesn't release its own muncher to press the P-switch. The P-switch itself can be activated off screen, it's the note block that can't.

I have this mental image of a troll that only triggers when someone is playing though in the editor. Something that will not interfear with normal gameplay but when someone is going though the editor will mess with you.
