Jim Morrison, A CBS Special on With Anne Morrison Chewning, 2021.

  • Collecting the words of Jim Morrison 2021, Anne Morrison Chewning, Robby Krieger, John Densmore, The Doors.
When the lead singer of The Doors, Jim Morrison, died in 1971 at age 27, he left behind boxes filled with poetry, journals, and handwritten lyrics of what would become some of the era's most memorable songs. His sister, Anne Morrison Chewning, has now compiled material from his archive into a new book, "The Collected Works of Jim Morrison." Correspondent John Blackstone talked with Chewning, and with the two surviving members of The Doors - drummer John Densmore and guitarist Robby Krieger - about Morrison's impact as a writer and performer.

Thank God Jim Morrison is finally getting the recognition and respect he so duly deserves. The Doors have always had a cult following that continues to grow, but a fairly recent ‘psychoanalysis of him by some TH-cam psychologist was offhandedly dismissive with no insight into the soul of this great poet. As a fifteen year old in 1968 hearing the Doors for the first time was truly life altering, it has the same effect today. Jim Morrison and the the Doors will continue to perplex and mesmerize long after that internet ‘psychoanalyst’ is long forgotten

But most of all the mystical persona of Jim. As great as the music is, my fav band of all time by far, the real draw to fans then and now is Jim. Something about the man just is mesmerizing. And it couldn't have happened in any other era the way it did. It was a Taylor made situation for Jim in the 60's. I mean as intelligent as he was, can you picture Jim Morrison the dentist or real estate agent, etc.? Lol. Was meant to be exactly as it happened as if it was predetermined. Which is y I love the story behind the band and obviously the story of the band during their heyday.

Watch for the tv series "The Big Interview" hosted by Dan Rather. He did an in-depth interview with John and Robbie. He has been doing them for a number of years now and really does great interviews. It is a series I watch on AXS tv. Here's a link about it. Although Jim was a very different person from the rest and an icon of the generation gap, you can see the sincere affection that his sister had for him... Despite the distance between his relatives, it is clear that they really loved him. He always respected and loved his two brothers (he put them after Pamela Courson in his will) but not his parents, there was something about them that Jim at the time found to be "irreconcilable differences" but surely if he had lived it he would have solved... But he left when he was 27 years old.

THE DOORS WOULDN'T BE NOTHING WITHOUT EACHOTHER.
They all brought their own thing to the table because they all had different musical backgrounds and that brought to the table to make a unique sound.
At one show they was announced as JIM MORRISON AND THE DOORS. Jim made them go back and introduce them right as THE DOORS.
