@ngDog. Thanks for that comment. That comment unintentionally made me go back to running no save/ no damage on resident evil games/other team hitless games again, since I kinda took a break from that. Your videos helped me so much on playing bg3. Thanks for that, too
Okay. So, I don't know how to feel about this. I consider myself far beyond the average Crpg player. Mainly due to the fact I've been playing them since they've existed. I frequently find ways to break the games I play (especially those grounded in DnD and similar systems) and by the time I'm done I've generally trivialized the hardest difficulty/modes and skewed things in my favor so egregiously that it's pretty much a wash from a certain point on. (To give some credence to this - I've beaten Pathfinder: WoTR on Last Azlanti, while on Unfair, and doing a true ascendancy run, Completed Kingmaker in similar circumstances, BG 1&2 on Insane:Legacy of Bhaal , and I've completed both Pillars of Eternity games on Path of the Damned with a max party size of two.) Having said that all that, this is absolutely ridiculous. The amount of forethought you had to put into this is borderline insane. The thing that impresses me most about this isn't even the planning or the insane attention to detail; but your flawless execution of it and your ability to adapt to things on the fly when that planning doesn't go 'quite' as expected. This is truly, truly impressive.
Thank you very much, I also got some experience in these type of games. Perhaps not that much in rpg games but definitely in games with turn based combat and at least I'm quite good in that area. Also this is not the first time I did such a run. I did a no gear run in DOS2 a few years ago, though to be fair DOS2 is a lot easier than BG3. But still I already kinda knew what to expect from such a run.
@@SleepingDog. It shows you've got experience with this kind of thing. You don't get to a place mentally that you can distill the game down to it's basic components the way you do without having experience in it. I plan on doing a solo run at some point but being realistic, I don't think I could manage a naked run. There's so many variables you have to keep track of and I just don't think I have the capacity to do it. Again, this run was crazy impressive. I would have doffed my cap to you just for doing a monk solo run, say nothing about a naked run, lol. You definitely have a thorough understanding of the systems of these games but it's more than that. Takes a lot of mentally acuity to pull this stuff off, especially on your own without referring to something. Watched a few of your other videos too mate, excited for the next ones!
You might also have been able to do ansur, he is suprisable and also does not regenerate his HP and his arena is easy to escape from via the door. A summoned Djinn is also immune to thunder and lightning dmg, so it can always tank Ansurs deadly AoE lightning reaction at the beginning of each turn.
If he indeed doesn't regenerate his HP you definitely can cheese him like this, even though it's still very risky. But didn't know if he regains his HP or not and in the case he would regain his HP it's pretty much impossible for me to kill him before he kills me, so I decided to better not risk it.
imagine being the villain in this scenario: You worked so hard to build everything up, only for some naked hobo to kick your entire army's ass without any weapons.
Couple of things about sorcerer build I would improve: Draconic bloodline with ligthning is better than storm sorcery... It gives you more AC, more HP and since we attack mostly with aoe spells, more damage as it adds our charisma mod to all lightning damage. You do lose the additional spells, but beside call lightning, they are not that useful And surprisingly witch bolt in late levels is better than chromatic orb A level 6 lightning chromatic orb is max 56 damage a level 6 witch bolt is max 72 damage The only thing worse is that witch bolt is concentration.. but I think if you kill someone with it it doesn't break other concentartion (might be wrong about it, need some testings)
For your normal build I agree that Draconic Sorcerer is a lot better than Storm. However since I'm naked I much rather have the utility from the Storm Sorcerer than the extra dmg from the Draconic Sorcerer, with also isn't even that big of a difference because I'm naked. As for the Witch Bolt I know that it has a higher dmg output at the higher levels than Chromatic Orb, but as you said it is a concentration spell and since I need my concentration slot for other more important spells Witch Bolt becomes useless for me. Also with Lightning weakness Chromatic Orb is able to one shot most of the enemies just like Witch Bolt. There are only a few enemies where the extra dmg from Witch Bolt would make a difference. Your concentration will immediately break once you try casting Witch Bolt and be replaced by it, unless your concentration spell was Haste, in this case you would immediately lose your turn without even casting Witch Bolt. If you kill your enemy with this attack or not doesn't matter, since you are going to lose your concentration before the kill happens (if you killed him and your concentration wasn't Haste you won't be concentrating on anything).
The game has a lot of "hidden" interactions that give you a bit of exp, I just didn't show them because otherwise this section of the video would be too long. For example I went into the owlbear cave and opened the Selûnite chest, which triggers an Inspiration for Shadowheart, since she has the acolyte background and Inspirations give a bit of exp to the characters that got them. But I assume most of the exp you are missing comes from the Emerald Grove, because in the grove are many of these "hidden" interactions. For example next to the ox's is a haystack and if you stand before the haystack your character will make a perception check and if you succeed you can loot the haystack and get 15exp. Close by there is another similar interaction with Doni, the kid that stands in front of the hidden entrance to the kids cave. If you talk to him and your character notices where he ran off to, you again get a bit of exp for that. Other than that it's a lot about talking to most of NPC inside the grove, many of them have small quests that only involves talking to them and that's it. For example, if you help Alfira finish her song you get 10exp. So it's not that surprising, if you don't get the level ups at the exact same time as I did, since it's easy to miss some of them. But don't let this hold you back, just find a lonely guard or 2 and I assume this will already be enough exp to get you to your next level up.
I bought them form traders. At lvl 9 traders start to offer you some lvl 6 spell slot scrolls. And since I was spamming long rests in this run I had more than enough rerolls to get the scrolls I wanted. Not all traders have a chance to sell you these scrolls though, only the ones who already sold you scrolls before can sell you these scrolls, for example Volo.
Is it truly worth dipping 2 levels into fighter for Action surge? i can't decide if it's better to put two more levels into monk for another feat and more evasion instead.
Action Surge increases you dmg output, that's why I personally prefer it. Don't need evasion if your enemy never gets a turn. Also don't forget that in Honor Mode the Blood Elixir and Haste action points don't trigger the extra attack ability anymore, but Action Surge does, which makes it even better in Honor Mode. But in the end both options work, if you prefer the evasion then go for it. The difference between these two choices is very marginal anyway, you will barely feel any difference playing with or without Action Surge.
I mean everything by gear (everything you can equip). The equipment you see in the description is just theoretical. Meaning it's the equipment I would use on these builds if I wouldn't do a no gear run.
If you do most of the quests from Act 1 and 2 you can reach lvl 10 inside the illithid oubliette, by killing everyone there (you don't have to kill Mizora or Zevlor).
Because I need to equip it to use it, therefore it counts a gear. And even if I could unequip it before entering combat it still would feel kinda cheesy to use it.
@@SleepingDog. ah gotcha that makes sense. It’s a fav of mine to use on Karlach even though I obviously don’t use it as a weapon so figured there was a reason I wasn’t processing lol
Outstanding achievement. I'm here for Shadowcute 😅
Of course you are, anything else would be preposterous. :)
ok, so you want to say that my Balanced, full party, all gear, stats edited with CheatEngine run is not that impressive?
It's very impressive. I would never be able to finish such a run. I would die of boredom before even leaving Act 1. :)
Ugh, CheatEngine for stats? That sounds painful. Allow me to introduce your new friend, WeMod.
just play warlock the best class in game.

Only appropriate shadowheart gear
nice work man, love the videos
Missed opportunity to play as a half orc wearing only a tiny leaf

OK, now do it blindfolded using a steering wheel as a control and with just a salami as a weapon
Sure thing, but let's make it a god run while we're at it. After all we don't want this to be too easy, right... right? 😟

Why does the video description include Storm Sorcerer and Open Hand Monk?
Because these are the builds I used.
Oh when you said Gear, you mean the helmet, cape, arms, boots, etc?? Cause in your description I saw weapons im a bit confused

Why do you go to the Myconid Colony?
To unlock the traders there. I can buy potions, scrolls and bombs from them.

Why does the title say "without any Gear", but the video description contains items listed under "gear"?
It's the gear I would use on these builds, if I didn't do a no gear challenge. I mentioned this in the outro.
Do scrolls and potions and smokepowder and arrows count as gear?
No, they count as consumables.
Could you beat Ansur?
You could try to cheese him, but beating him in a legitimate fight is borderline impossible.
