Festus here did it with the intent of saving people, Mortarian (I know its 40k but still) did it to try and save his sons, and the most do it because they dont want to die to super aids
Nah, Mortarion was just weak. He gave up. For all his hatred of warp shenanigans, he embraced it in the end. The saving his sons nonsense was just to cover his own ass, truth was, he got absolutely bamboozled by Typhus and Nurgle. Weak and foolish Mortarion. He knows it too, which was why it struck so hard and deep when Jagathai called him out for it during their scuffle at the lion's gate spaceport. Speaking of which, Jagathai Khan already sorta predicted this during their first fight in Prospero. About how Mortarion worked so hard to ban the librarius and psykers just to find himself surrounded by psykers AND daemons like never before. Hah.

I always loved Festus's story, but I liked his old art more. He seemed more human and less goofy.
