I had a tour around there in 1991 also. The depot foreman Grant Caruthers gave me an atlantean badge that I still have on my dining room sideboard. 27 years after that I had a real one.

Nice to see the old Bristol LHs, used as training vehicles and the older REs, which were still in service. The blue bus was an even older RE, with the earlier style bodywork. Judging by it's condition, I'm guessing it was a restoration project🤔

I don't know what model they are that Busways training vehicle but United had loads of them in early 1980's and my cousin and I use to call them 'Loaf of Bread 🍞 Buses'based on the obvious shape! The 22 to Hartlepool to Durham City and 19 to Bishop Auckland always turned out one of those. The 224 to Darlington and 227 to Middlesbrough generally more modern Leyland Nationals but I remember one of those bread shaped buses being used on the X56 Hartlepool to Scarborough presumably as the better vehicle was unavailable and it refueled in Whitby depot.

So was the Atlantean at 7:28 being broken up for scrap at this point? Sad that it still has the blinds set for the E1 which would have been its last journey.

It makes me sad seeing the Atlantean bus being scrapped when I’m desperate to own one
