In another life I think Robert was a psychologist! He has a tremendous skill for compassion and active listening! The debate over organic vs. Lab or other manufactured substances was spot on and had me captivated with his adept communication abilities! In interviews he seems like a different person, but I understand why there… because he’s being placed in a celebrity spotlight! This was just Robert Smith; the man, husband, uncle, godfather, brother, and friend. This really was better than an interview! I miss Loveline! I used to listen to Dr. Drew and Adam Corolla for years with my daughter. Great post! Cheers!

All of these girls calling saying that they are in love with Robert are clearly not actual fans. Anyone who is a true fan knows that Robert and Mary Poole have been together for over twenty years even in 1992. They knew each other years before they were even married. Simon is just so sweet. Honesty is the most important thing to him.

One of the most romantic things ever was when someone asked when they were going to get married, and he said "I want to know her for at least half my life first, so the 2nd half we truly know one another". It was sweet.

Lol ....most of these women surely know he's married. Actually I'm sure every female fan knows that. You think that's gonna stop female fans from crushing on him? Nope.

I’m so happy to have found this video. It’s great to hear both Robert and Simon speaking naturally as opposed an interview type setting. Their senses of humor are so damn funny. But it’s also endearing when they give serious advise. LOVE these guys. ❤️

This was so fun to stumble upon. I mean how great are Simon and Robert through this all. Real people with real advice. They are so down to the Earth and plain fun. Very helpful advice. And, good on Robert having a sound debate with Dr. Drew. Love them so much! Still crushing on them at 53! ♥️😊😍

First off, Simon and Robert are great guests on this show. They both come across as very genuine and practical. Simon seems like a very sweet person and Robert is clearly very intelligent. Their banter is witty and funny. They seem like smart, decent people and loads of fun to hang out with.
Secondly, the drug debate is fantastic. Robert is way ahead of his time and Dr Drew’s thoughts on psychedelics have ultimately come around to Robert’s viewpoint decades later. I find it very entertaining that Dr Drew is sort of teasing and condescending about young fans obsessing over Robert, but in the end is asking to meet up and shake his hand. Another obsessed fan under the spell of Robert Smith!

Robert despises all religions since they are the source of so much conflict in our world… I couldn’t agree more!! He’s also against the monarchy and doesn’t believe that succession by royal lineage is any measure of a person (especially in the UK). He’s really a 1970’s punk at heart (like me!). Note: I got the personal info from a YT video of a really nice 2012 Telerama (France) interview called: Robert Smith, de The Cure : “Je préférerais mourir que me considérer comme un modèle”

It’s interesting hearing the old school perspectives on gay/bi guys and HIV fears, and the level of ignorance that still persisted at the time. I thought that by this time they knew a tad bit more to know that as long as things were safe and this guy wasn’t being promiscuous and/or into intravenous drugs. I know Dr. Drew is a bit conservative and even reactionary in some of his views, so idk if that factors in or not, but I do understand that this was pre-drug antiviral cocktail being figured out for HIV, and lots of people still died from AIDS.. It’s very interesting. I’m glad I came of age as a bi guy well after these things had been figured out.
Edit: GODDAMN, that conversation/debate with Robert and Dr. Drew on drugs was great... Dr. Drew’s position hasn’t aged well at all, not surprisingly. I’m particularly talking about his points on psychedelics, cannabis, and brain damage. If anything research is showing more and more that the exact opposite is often true, and anyway, Robert’s points about the social context were spot on.

Line of the best days ever!! 😇🤣😂

Jim was probably trying to upstage Robert and Simon! He comes off like a spastic and gushing egotistical schmuck! But Robert and Simon kept their cool and maintained their dignity, class, and characteristic English stiff upper lip! They’re absolute pros (and best mates too)! Adam Corolla was the same way too! He’d even try acting like a doctor and start offering diagnoses by talking over Dr. Drew Pinsky instead of just asking questions and sticking to what he knew best (which wasn’t medicine, psychology, substance abuse, addiction, and proper treatment advice options…)
