  • As a teenager, I was your quintessential party girl found at the nightclub doing drugs & alcohol.
I ran with a crowd that could keep up with me, but eventually, I couldn’t keep up with myself.
I don’t regret those days because I came to realize (later in life) that the alcohol and drugs may have saved my life…
    Come find out why... 😳🥲

I grew up on your parent's music and became a fan of you when my kids discovered Wilson Phillips. I lost my husband of 47 years a few months ago and I still get weepy in the oddest places. I was in Wal-Mart the other day when a crying fit came over me. Then the intercom started playing "Hold On". I couldn't believe it. It was like having a friend right there encouraging me. Thanks, Chynna!. And may God bless you in your life and ministry!

I just want to say, I'm truly so sorry you lost your precious husband, and 47 years is quite a run, so I have deep compassion for you. I'm happy, "Hold On" came on at just the right moment. God really does work in mysterious ways! God bless you🙏✝️💛

JJ Frank I’m so very sorry for your loss. I lost my husband of 35 years nearly 14 yrs ago. I was 55 & our daughters were 10 & 12 at the time. PLEASE don’t rush yourself through the layers of this profound grief. It can even take years before you feel you’ve gained some equilibrium. The Lord Jesus will take you one step at a time. He weeps with you & comforts you. Those unexpected moments of sorrow are a given. Be gentle with yourself & don’t listen to well-meaning people who want you to “feel better quickly” & try to rush the process. Eventually you’ll be able to think of your husband without the sharp pain you’re feeling now. Praying for you. 🙏

Drugs and alcohol are only done because the person is self-medicating. If one can get to the root of the emotional issue and work on themselves, the substances can stop and self care can start. You've been on the right path a long time. Good job.

My child has been lost in addiction for about 20 years... I tried to "save" her for so many years that I felt like I was slowly dying. I've had to build up a callus wall over my heart in self preservation. All I can do is pray from a distance... I'm thankful that you were able to overcome. These drugs these days are so flipping scary... they are "cut" with stuff that I believe are to intentionally kill. I do Thank God that I was there to get her medical help on two different occasions due to overdose. Please keep my child in your prayers along with me. .💔🙏🙏🙏🙏

Chynna, I cleaned up my party boy act 36 years ago..It took witnessing the death of two of my friends hit by a driver under the influence to solidify my desire to live healthier, not perfect, healthier. Many of us saw drugs as an "accessory" in 1970's -1980's..something you did, to get you in the mood to party down...blah blah blah Unfortunately many never returned from the party. "..with God all things are possible.." (Matthew 19:26) even recovery from drug addiction! Peace of Christ 🙏🏻❤️

Thank God for n.a and a.a. those programs get right to the point...give it to God. I think those are God given and God driven programs.
Iv always viewed addiction as a spiritual disease as well as mental emotional and physical..it effects the soul.
Jesus loves addicts. When he reaches addicts it is when they are at rock bottom usually and have no one and nothing else to turn to..and there's the holy spirit still with the addict, never leaving and never forsaking.

On the outside looking in I had a privileged life but life inside the home was scary and traumatic for a little kid. Wow so glad you survived Chynna. I also went through a phase after my mother died I was 26 and had never been a party girl ,but oh boy didn't that change I think for three years the only time was sober was when I was asleep, I was trying to run away from the pain I just couldn't deal with it and during that time met the love of my life and drove him away.and back then there wasn't really any help. These days I look back and think how on earth did I survive that, and your right I think it's all part of God's plan and I wouldn't have my two gorgeous sons. Have a great weekend

Hi Chynna Drugs are like walking around carrying a lead crutch. There is an illusion that they help you get through life but drugs did not help you get through your childhood. You got through your difficult childhood despite taking drugs, not because of them. Congratulations on escaping that very nasty trap.

I believe God wants to use you to help others. I appreciate you being so open and honest. I'm depressed now. Lost an aunt 2 weeks ago and a friend of 35 years earlier this week.

Hello CP. Thank You for telling your story. I had a very difficult childhood. I did not start drinking till I was 19. I was sold from the beginning. I loved the fun I had with it but in my late 20's it started to get out of hand. I was putting myself in difficult situations. I was slowly becoming a functioning alcoholic. I was hiding it and drinking alone. I hurt relationships and it wasn't until the age of 39 that I woke up from the worst hangover that I said I was done. I went on medication for depression and never looked back. I am 52 and two time cancer survivor. It made me stronger.

I had a very very similar childhood. My parents were fun and I know I was drinking at weddings etc by age 7. I also smoked as a child. I was seeing a famous drummer 18 years older than myself when I was 16 (He had a boat in Marina Del Rey). I related to this sooooo much!!! I too was sneaking into clubs at age 14. I was done partying around the same time kids my age were starting. We didn't have rehab then. I too received a miracle from Jesus and switched my addiction to exercise, cleaning,, whatever yet this was so relatable and honest. THANK YOU!! God Bless you Chynna. I think for those who cannot afford rehab or cannot make it to a meeting it is important for people to know Jesus can remove the cravings. I honestly believe fewer people would be addicted if they knew how to stop. Thank you for sharing "One day at a time" also known as "Hold On For One More Day" You are a blessing.!!!!!! Again thank you and God Bless You!!

Thank you for sharing your story. I like to learn from other people's experiences. I learned to stay away from drugs from what I have learned and seen. I'm glad you were able to survive those years and learned how to better yourself and bring up your children in a healthier environment. Keep on your positive path!! We all have a purpose, we just have to figure out what it is.

Chynna! We've lived the same life, except mine did not include high profile success.
I stopped doing drugs at about 20 years old though. God bless you sweetheart!
Thank you for your candor. I'm about 4 years older so we're from the same era, roughly, so I understand the scene regarding drugs in the 80s.
I just have to add, you look SO GORGEOUS, extraordinarily so, for whatever reason. Your skin is flawless and radiant. How about that bone structure!?😲
Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us.

I’m currently trying to get sober from heroin, fentanyl, and meth. I know.. a lot right! Anyway, I just messaged a friend that goes to NA. And asked if I could go to next meeting with her. It took me back to the time I also, was on cocaine and that look in the mirror, and mom telling me I looked dead… it did it for me. I got sober for some years after that. I was also 19. Mom won’t get to see me go back to sober this time. She passed in Jan. I’ve been having that READY feeling and I wish my mama was here so I can detox on her couch once again. But I just wanted to let you know that this video inspired me to take the next step. God bless you ma’am 💕🌹💕
