Thank you for sharing , your art and dedication to your craft ,of snowshoe making I did get a hold of Henri vaillantcourt by phone and was able to purchase one of his books , and a video on snowshoe making , I found your video very informative and down to earth and mentioned your name to Henri he was overjoyed to hear his book being mentioned by another artist and snowshoe maker , keep it up

I'm a basket maker and this info is great to know. Would the heartwood be used ? I usually have cores left after pounding out the splints. I'm a reever not a log pounder. I only use modern snowshows when there's 1 foot of snow or less , lol. That's only to span holes and the crampon. If it's a mild winter and the snow is only 3' or less I use bearpaw or if theres a good crust. And if the snows fresh and five feet or more I break out the 5 footers. the dog stays home on those days.

What do you think would be a good style for ice fishing ? I'm also here in Northern Minnesota. Up in Buyck . I'd like a nice shoe for walking into the BWCA and toting a sleigh behind . Great Video! Do you give classes or lessons other then at the school?
