I think the most interesting piece of trivia about this movie is that the people at Capcom were so in awe of this movie, when they saw the Ken & Ryu flashback from when they were younger. That's what sparked the idea of Street Fighter Alpha.
Adam Gomez that's right! there's some homages to this movie in the SFA series, like when Cammy takes off her cloak before a fight or the fight stage between Sagat vs Ryu in an open field with the storm in the background in SFA 2, exactly like the movie opening scene

IKR! I paused at that frame at the brown characters cheering on the match and was amazed at how each character has different facial features, despite all being of the same color profile. That's a difficult feat to pull off nowadays so what you see in modern day anime is they use the same template structure of the face and in order to differentiate each character simply color their features in unreal colors giving us characters with purple eyes and green hair.

This really took me aback! Usually representations of India in cinema are pretty loose and clumsy (yes, even in Indian cinema...) but everything from the architecture, to even the vehicles is spot on!!! I've never seen this movie, but I will now. Back then I was at the mercy of whichever VHS my cousins in america would send for me. They even sent the player. The white vehicles at the end are classic Indian police vehicles. They're the hindustan ambassador and the Mahindra cj350 (don't quote me on this last one, it could be another model) which was a willy's lisenced production in India. Anyone who owns or has seen a Mahindra roxor will know what I'm talking about. Guys, you don't get it. In India, a lot of older colonial buildings have flat roofs with a low wall surrounding the terrace. They're usually painted with a stained lime whitewash or acrylic distemper and the paint drip and fade patterns on the buildings as represented here are identical. That is stunning attention to detail. The moment I saw the buildings I knew something was us. Dhalsim isn't obviously Indian. He's a visual approximation of a sadhu (given the dark skin, skulls, kadas) but he takes anavar.
Wow, I didn't even know there were two versions with differing soundtracks. I remember owning this Streetfighter movie on DVD years ago but then I gave my entire DVD collection to my sister when I switched over to blu ray. Maybe I should check and see if they ever released this Anime movie on blu ray. 🙂
Sometimes some people say that characters like Dhalsim are too stereotyped. But I think it's good that in pop culture they create stereotyped characters. Because it is precisely the stereotypical characteristics of nations that make them so interesting and memorable. For example, if you depict a Russian without a hat with earflaps or some other characteristic features of Russian culture (such as balalaika, vodka, etc.), then you get another boring white European who will be indistinguishable from a German or a Canadian. Also, if you remove the turban, yoga, etc. from Dalsim, you will get an unremarkable character from Asia. It's great that there are, for example, Japanese samurai and Chinese kungfu, it gives us cultural differences and diversity. Dhalsim is one of my favorite video game characters and because of him I became interested in Indian culture and mythology.
In design this is known as ‘visual iconography’, when you play off common association to present a backstory (for example, putting a cook character in a white chef’s hat- the audience will assume he cooks because of the hat, even if modern chefs rarely wear them). The older a series is the more it tends to be hamfisted, but the process is still used today, just with more care.
It also seems that despite having the size advantage, he still respects dhalsim knowing that dhalsim has the advantage given his ability to teleport and to temporarily paralyze opponents

I don't remember if Dhalsim had such "mental" power to dominate the opponent in SF2... as far as I remember he had Yogaflame and Yogafire but not mind-control power.
You, a lot of women these days doing yoga. They have already achieved the power of Hypnotism by wearing tight Yoga pants and shirt and doing those stretches which caused many men to not move and look at them. There will come a time where they will master Yoga fire and Yoga flame. We are doomed...
Its really Incredible to think about, but don't be fooled by the time of release. Many older cartoons/anime had fantastic animation, because they really put alot more effort into them. Classic Tom and Jerrry is a great example of this, and it came out in the 40's (imo, the early 50's T&J is the best overall). Old, none rotoscoped, Disney movies were phenomenal as well! Although I haven't watched many older anime series/movies, Akira is a perfect example for this side too, coming out on 1988.
The great power that Dhalsim felt was probably Akuma’s (he had a cameo slightly before this scene where he’s just sitting down against the wall eating). 🤣
There is just something about these hand drawn anime films that modern day CGI can't create. I don't have words to describe it, but it just feels nostalgic and awe inspiring when watching all our childhood content again.
I'd pay for a anime series explaining the story of SF1-SF3. They could use each game as each arc/saga. SF1 introduces Ryu and Ken and then Akuma kills Gouken. so Ryu and Ken split and enter the tournament bringing us the main fight Ryu vs Sagat. SF Alpha has Ryu dealing with the dark hado while Bison kidnaps Ken to use as a body replacement. Ryu finds a way to supress the hado in order to save Ken and beat Bison and then Ryu finds Akuma on the island and fights him. SF2 Turbo Bison rises again and holds the tournament in order to seek out Akuma and his power. Ryu isnt effected by the hado as much since his dealt with it in Alpha. at the end Akuma of course comes out of nowhere and Demons Bison. but instead of leaving straight away. he gives Ryu some words about the dark hado. SFIV arrives and since Akuma spoke to Ryu again in SF2 the dark hado starts to effect him once again except its worse. Seth comes to power and holds the tournament to record data to copy everyones moves. the winner then fights Seth with all of his moves. in the end Bison comes back and possibly kills Seth which leads to the end of SFIV. SFV starts with pretty much the exact same story as in the game. where Bison comes to power, Nash comes back and stuff like that. Ryu of course finds a way to suppress the hado in SFIV and learns to control the power of waking even more. which of course leads to Ryu defeating Bison. SF3 we have the new generation and instead of focusing on Ryu it of course goes to Alex and the Illuminate. of course the story is still about Ryu in and way. he meets Oro and starts to train under him so that he can become strong enough to defeat Akuma. which is basically what Ryu's whole journey has been about. and what we've all wanted. but before that Alex of course deals with the illuminate and beats Gill. The final arc. perhaps one last tournament has all characters throughout the series returning. and then in the end Ryu after completing his training under Oro finally challenges Akuma and defeats him. I mean its basically the fight we've all to this day have been waiting to see. and with that the Street Fighter series ends. Just imagine a series of Street Fighter with good art, fights and in depths story.

This easily has to be top 5 anime movies ever made. Not only is the animation in the drawings so well done the combat choreography in each fight are so good to
Anyone else spot *Akuma* just chillin the background the first time they saw the film?
Oh Man ! I have never seen this Movie. They're doing the moves Too !
The quality of animation here is 11/10 way too good. Very detailed!
I don't remember if Dhalsim had such "mental" power to dominate the opponent in SF2... as far as I remember he had Yogaflame and Yogafire but not mind-control power.
Peterson's Art & Games he’s using hypnotism
Yoga!
You, a lot of women these days doing yoga. They have already achieved the power of Hypnotism by wearing tight Yoga pants and shirt and doing those stretches which caused many men to not move and look at them. There will come a time where they will master Yoga fire and Yoga flame. We are doomed...
Peterson's Art & Games read the comic the games never do the characters any justice
He wasn’t jacked either in the sf2 game
Given his ability to teleport and to temporarily paralyze an opponent, dhalsim could have still won if it wasn't for someone distracting him

Beautiful art style . And the colour palette is also wonderful . Has that 80s vibe to it .
This is from 1994, stupid-ass.
No way this came in 1994. Animation is just too good
94 and that era had lots of great animations... Better than now even.
That's literally when animations where at its peak wtf 😒
Now is most times bland cgi
Man I miss this street fighter. Gave off the street feel it was marketed as, and a nice touch of Fist of the North Star and Jojo.
Yes compared to the over the top storyline and character design of recent games

That person who make those thumbnail need a raise!!!
3:27 When your grandaddy start talking that shit
The great power that Dhalsim felt was probably Akuma’s (he had a cameo slightly before this scene where he’s just sitting down against the wall eating). 🤣
There is just something about these hand drawn anime films that modern day CGI can't create. I don't have words to describe it, but it just feels nostalgic and awe inspiring when watching all our childhood content again.
Why do I feel as if its like watching Yoshimitsu vs Ganryu and Jin is there watching?
Ganryu wishes he were as good as Honda Sento's world-reknowned founder. :P
Had this on vhs back in the day... 10× better than the real life movies.
You can tell by how well they were able to restore this that the original cels were top notch

Rented this from the video store when I was in the 5th grade. WAS BLOWN AWAY
My son will watch all this for sure
Bless Honda and his sumo spirit
i hope you all know, the little girl that Ryu is holding is Dhalsim's daughter
Oh
Really??
@@robertbelyea5767 yes! read the manga
Really? Thanks i didnt know
Best Street Fighter adaptation EVER
The animation is crisp man
I could be wrong, but I've always felt this movie was underrated. I'm glad to see it is getting the love it deserves. It has aged like a fine wine.

I always wondered what anime fights would look like if they were animated like fighting games.
I am not disappointed.
3:53 I've though he would destroy the car as in the 90's game ...
ahh high detailed handdrawn epic animation! 90s anime is irreplaceable
Even more stranger than an authentic Sumo match in India is the fact that the animators drew in an AUTHENTIC to the core, Indian police jeep and a station wagon version of the HM Ambassador car!

Fun fact: akuma appear in this movie as well, he appears right before this fight scene, it just shows him sitting down outside the ring.
Duh dumbass.
@Ryu go look again. Akuma is in here
I love how akuma is just chilling there sitting down 🤣😂
where?
@@barrymcclendonjr3953 hes sitting out side the concrete wall, but its a few seconds back from where the video starts
when you were expecting an awesome yoga flame but get blue balled instead

This take me back! Too much childhood 👍
Still the best game to movie I've seen. High quality animation and storytelling. Light years ahead from the new Mortal Kombat, for example.
