Yes we are aware of it. Chris if you're reading this I'll handle the response please. At some point I wanted to answer this in a video. But since you asked politely I'll entertain it for one response. If you ask me.. no there is no cultural appropriation. It is cultural appreciation. BUT, this is not my culture. So I don't want to speak on behalf of the people whose culture we're talking about here. But I will say this. there are a lot of people using CA as a guise to attempt to get them cancelled for other reasons. That shouldn't be ignored. That to me is worse than whatever CA we think XG is doing. The girls are still young and finding their identity. They aren't cosplaying to be rappers, they are students of music and have shown nothing but respect and admiration for the black artists they love. Being older myself, there were things I picked up on black culture that I probably shouldn't have as a teenager. But Tupac, Snoop, Dr.Dre were such huge influences in my childhood. I was impressionable. But I didn't get cancelled for it. I learned over time, found my own identity, and have grown since. Now, that's not to say that there are people who truly are upset about some of the things XG did. Is Tiktok the best platform to try and correct that? In my opinion no. XGALX should be contacted directly and explain, hey.. what you're doing here isn't cool internationally. I 100% trust XGALX and Simon to make the proper adjustments so that everyone can enjoy XG's music while feeeling respected and included. Whatever faults they've done up until this point, you have to understand, this notion of CA is not normal to foreigners. But of course yes, trying to break into the music scene globally, they need to educate themselves. And I trust that they will. And that is really all I have to say about this.
Ever since Elon Musk bought Twitter, it is now a safe space for racist, white supremacist, xenophobic, bigot, right wing Christian nationalist, trolls etc.. as for the CA, since XG is an all Japanese member group, just tell them haters to stop wearing kimono or cosplaying as anime characters. That's CA.
