  • We invited six Theravadin Buddhist monks - two local, one from Myanmar and three from Sri Lanka - to lunch dana at our house. Lunch dana means that the monks come to give blessings and perform some Buddhists chants and a talk to benefit everyone in the household plus any one who also happen to be present, for example, friends and relatives. A big benefit of lunch dana that I know is that one is able to ask the monks questions on Buddhism, which one cannot do freely when a dana is done instead at the temple. In appreciation for their blessings and chanting, we served lunch to them.
