Balasaheb Thackeray's younger brother Shrikant and Kunda Thackeray had a son. Which was named Swaraj Shrikant Thackeray. Raj Thackeray's father Shrikant Thackeray was a music director. He named his wife and children musically. While his wife was named Madhuvanti, his son was named Swaraj. Madhuvanti is a raga of Hindustani classical music. And Swaraj means the king of voices. And he named his daughter Jaywanti, which is also a raga.
In March 2006, he formed his own separate party named Maharashtra Navnirman Sena ie MNS. Whose symbol was the railway engine. Shiv Sena started disintegrating when Raj Thackeray formed a new party. A large number of Shiv Sena supporters joined the MNS. Raj Thackeray had to start politics from scratch to take a blow from Chacha and Shiv Sena and build his new political image in the state
