This man won the 1980 Chopin competition because he was better than Ivo Pogorelich. Let that sink in. His playing is sublime but he also beat a legend on his way to victory!

Con serenidad y calma, una técnica brillante, lejos de efectismos , ha dado una lección de claridad, estilo, pasión controlada
Una versión, creo, muy cercana al modo en que la interpretaría el autor

It is nice but it is not Slavic style aesthetics. It is too tepid and soft like butter. How did he ever win the Chopin prize decades ago? There's a serious question of him being on the jury while also being the piano teacher of the 2021 Chopin winner.

@@nathantran2353 It’s not about the capabilities of the pianos at the time of Chopin. It’s rather the palette of dynamics one has to deploy when playing any kind of repertoire. That is, for every type of fortissimo you must have a specific forte, piano, pianissimo. The problem with todays pianists is that they either play extremely loud or soft, thereby restricting themselves into a dull and bifid type of playing and confusing this with what Horowitz did. He reportedly had numerous levels of dynamics between his piano and pianissimo.

수능화이또 i think it's really frustrated to compare pianists since art and especially music are always subjective things to criticize. All qualified pianists are unique and no one plays like another so it's pointless to compare who is better. The choice of your favorite pianists also depends on how you feel the music, and I wouldn't say that you or me or someone who has a good taste of music by pointing out which pianist is better, because who cares? Why don't you just enjoy the music instead of being so annoying? I really get sick every time I see a comment like your!
