  • I have a 3 Axis DRO on the mill. But that is X-Y-Z . But I also have a quill. So I have purchased a stand alone one & here I am working out how & where to fit it.
    Question. Do I really need one or would it be beneficial to have one. You tell me.
    At the end of the video I talk about the Shield solution. I have looked it up again & it is a rust barrier. It is still available. Perfect for the workshop. As is Ct85 or even the trusted WD40.

      Thanks Andrew. Do you have any stickers made. If so a swap is invited.

      @@andrewdolinskiatcarpathian no problem. I just did mine in Microsoft publisher & used glossy adhesive printer paper. Cost very little to do. Take care. Steve.

    Good job, the small scale on the quill will come in very handy. As for me, I desperately need some DRO's in my shop. Cheers, Aaron.

      Hi Aaron. Yes i was lucky that when i bought the mill it had a good quality British supplied 3 axis already fitted. So saved a bundle.

      Thanks Paul. Hope it will not be long before the metal turns up. Going to try & get a lens for the camera to video the Tig welding. Tried it once before & failed. So fingers crossed.
      Regards. Steve. P.S Your sticker is on the board.

    I had to make a part like that to attach a Mitutoyo scale to an old jig borer quill, there is no other way, it was worth the effort.

    Looking good Steve. Lol, where did you get ZQ from lol lol. Its W. You will need to have another christening now! Plans look good mate, keep it up. Cheers, Jon

      Now i am confused. No No it's Zq. Or is it. So where did W come from. From,,, ????!!!!. What does W stand for.

    • @jonsworkshop
      @jonsworkshop 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Steviegtr52 On CNC gear (admittedly from the 90's), if you already have a Z axis but have a 2nd quill axis, it was always W, well at least on the gear I used anyway. Probably 3 or 4 different machining centres from different manufacturers all used this convention back then. ZQ also would work I guess. If it was mine I would go W, but that's just how my brain thinks based on previous experience. Use whatever makes the most sense to you mate, don't let me confuse you, I get plenty of opportunities to confuse myself lol. Cheers, Jon

    Can you fit to front, still using depth gauge? Could be easier?

    • @Steviegtr52
      @Steviegtr52  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes i guess so Gary. It's just finding places to fit brackets.
