"What we need most in order to make progress is to be silent before this great GOD with our appetite & with our tongue, for the language he best hears is silent love" - St. John of the Cross
I was abandoned by all at my reversion, and I thought this was a loss. But loss has no substance. It weighs nothing. And the substance of Holy Communion is gain. "There's nobody left," I used to cry to Christ, Who is the greatest Person to know. Now, I am weakened with Love and strengthened by that so-called loss.
Luke 12:53 repeats Matthew 10:35 'For I have come to turn 'a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. We are living, as you are, this scripture when we turn to and remain steadfast with Christ, family and friends reject or simply abandon us or oppose us with a hostility that even they do not understand. You know it well, Charity, Christ is All. This is the cost of discipleship. Union with the Triune God is the call and goal of EVERY Christian. Blessings to you. '

I thought I was good but I just realized that I may be worse than I thought I was . It’s just scary because I’m feeling I was wrong about God all the time …
My question is… if detachment from the world is necessary, and many Catholic and Orthodox monks do separate themselves from family, parents, etc.. only seeing them once a year…. Isn’t that a violation of the 4th Commandment? What if their parents become Ill, and need help? Are the monks judged for that?
We are created to: 1. Know God 2. Love God 3. Serve God 4. And one day, share everlasting happiness with Him in Heaven! Union with God is when a soul unites himself to God by love. This is the end of the spiritual life. I hope this helps! :)
@@credidimuscaritati, union with God comes through sanctifying grace which begins at baptism and please God continues throughout one's life up to and including the moment of death.
So according to this teaching, marrying a narcissist is a good thing? Since that would be the more difficult thing than marrying someone who actually loves us with pleasure?
Ok but I’ve been detached for five years and still nothing. Now what? More patience? Is my faith not strong enough? Is there a special combination of words I’m not saying right or what?
I came back to the church in 1985 because of an unapproved apparition of Virgin Mary at Bayside NY, I have been very attached ever since. Heaven does not want you to walk around with a empty head .or maybe yes.
TENTH STATION Jesus is Stripped of His Garments What are the garments, says Jesus, of which I, Love, strip my dear spouses when they have arrived at the summit of Calvary? Calvary, in Religion, is holy Perfection; it is a mountain because souls ascend it with pain. And when the soul has arrived there, Love despoils it, (1) Of all self-will, that it may no longer will aught but what God wills; (2) Of every desire which has not God for its end; (3) Of every longing for natural satisfactions. All this makes the soul suffer much; but she suffers with joy because she is the prey of Love. If she did not love she would suffer all the more, would be more weighed down; but because she loves, Love renders her trials sweet. O Jesus, You who are sweetness itself, and who have power to sweeten the most bitter bitterness, I will drink the Chalice of Detachments after You have blessed it; and I shall find it, with Your grace, more sweet than every other sweetness. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us ! Tenth station of the Way of the Cross dictated by Jesus to Sister Benigna Consolata Ferrero in November 1915. This is a profound lesson to meditate from Our Lord.
I humbly disagree. Human attachment makes one a normal person. People get psychologically sick when they become detached from each other. We all need to have natural attachment with both God and others without becoming I'll over it. God bless your day. Detached people become mentally ill. And it creates a lasting impression of hurt against the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit for some. This is truth. Look it up in the lives of the Saints.
I agree, Dawn, but I don’t think he means detached like sanitized clean, cut off from everyone. At the beginning he said our human relationships need to be in right order.
@@TheMickey1892 I agree with you. The concept of detachment is tricky. I agree with Dawn as well. The notion of Detachment is complicated. It’s about right order as you say, but not everything that seems right order actually is right. I’ve seen A LOT of people go twisted (pervert The Good News of Christ Jesus) after misunderstanding ’detachment”. St Theresa of Avila speaks of such once. Dawn does well to sound the alarm. Some people pervert the teaching and adopt ways that feed their pride rather than serve God. It’s frightening.
However, Jesus said that unless we are converted, and become as little children we will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. I challenge anyone to find a little child who is detached from the things of this world. God bless.
What do you mean, please? Should I not mourn for my feather babies as I would for my human family? Sorry, not possible. The compassion I have for them and sadness at their passing was a lesson from God. I’ve not eaten meat since, never will again. If your theologians say such ‘creatures’ will never go to heaven by virtue of their not being the human species then I am all the more sad for their loss. I’ve seen more purity and kindness in their lifetime than unfortunately all too many humans, so called fellow Christians included 😔
Feather babies? Like birds? They have no conscience, they don't understand that they are birds, all they know are their desires and instincts, like a program in a computer that cause them to react to stimuli and behave the way they do. No, pet birds do not go to heaven. They were not created to serve God, but to serve man.

@@Alexandra_homesteading I did not say you are not a Catholic, but man was created with dominion over all created things. No animals have reason, language, or knowledge of what they are.
