king of anime: 1950s-1970s the astro boy writer osamu tezuka made revolutionary stuff that made anime bigger
kings of shounen: 80s-2000s anime such as db, fist of the north star, yuyu hakusho and many others were released that have deticated fandoms to this day and helped massively into anime becoming popular in the west as well
today: mappa slave empire keeps on growing

Yes, so for people seeing this video Astro boy premiered on Fuji TV on New Year's Day, 1963 (a Tuesday).
