This is a surprisingly pleasant watch. Agreed with almost all of Sucharita's points. The climax is a little far fetched but somehow also expected. Anyway, it's a fun movie. And with Rajkummar Rao in it, very very watchable. :)

That Dowry thing is totally relatable....if a boy is an IAS officer, minimum amount would be 1 crore...no matter how he looks or what kind of nature he has...and the most annoying thing is the girl's side accept it as a cultural norm....

I thought i was the only one to feel this way. I loved the movie till the revenge saga.. after that the same onle manana, rijhana, jealous karna nahi jama mujhe. Hope that is what you were trying to insinuate without giving away the story. Another thing that bothered me, was they didnt show aarti protesting dowry, or the concept of it at all. at least ek dum dar dialogue to dena tha na uske muh mein against dowry. Na hero na heroine - no one rants against the give and take of dowry here is what irked me the most.
Kriti getting meatier roles in this nepotism ridden film industry is as improbable as this movie's 2nd half. Wish her good luck though... A lovely actress who can actually act
the movie was so good, until it wasn't..a rather disappointing Bollywood ending to an otherwise plausibly built story!
loved your 'not a movie review'! subscribed! I think you echoed exactly what I thought about the movie. Cute love story in a misogynist society with over stretched second half (there were some loopholes however about how both Sattu and Aarti didn't have a problem with dowry even though they seemed to be against it, and how Sattu never discussed about her working to his parents). I lost the interest entirely when the supposedly very smart, independent woman was portrayed completely the opposite; not to mention the overly predictable ending.....
For the first time, I am not convinced with Sucharita's review. As much as I feel the movie was on point with every aspect of the premise whether it be plot,characters,acting,script etc.

I cannot believe in 2017 people have no problem with movie showing hero ok with his family taking dowry?
Its ok to shatter a girls dreams take dowry but its not ok that she tries to save herself. Then you make clerk suddenly bigger officer then lady, because he is man, and show girl's family as bad for asking their own life's savings back from dowry hungry in laws.

This film was somewhat okay. I could relate to the first half of Aarti's character as an ambitious girl willing to achieve a lot more and not remaining stuck in a marriage as an housewife. Second half was alright. The revenge saga could have been better executed. The last 25 minutes of movie was extremely unnecessary . I dislike movies where the main characters change their mind every 5 seconds and are a weeping mess. Why can't there be more female characters like Abha. Rajkummar was simply excellent in his role but he deserves better then crappy love stories. Btw excellent review

I feel that the story of the movie is very predictable and I agree with what you said but still I loved the movie. Mainly I think because of the chemistry between RaRa and Kriti. Ra's acting was sooooooo perfect that I rewatched it several times. Gives me the vibes of DDLJ a littlr bit i dunno why.
This is the first time I've seen someone referring Rajkumar Rao as RaRa and I love it.

Arre no, no, it is not. If you haven't yet watched this one, please give it a try. It is definitely not as annoying as Badrinath ki Dulhaniya. For one, there is Rajkummar Rao.
