I like the idea of using snaps. I’ve tried zippers, Velcro, buttons, I even have a flannel duvet cover right now that I hand stitched in long running stitches with embroidery floss. When I wanted to wash it, I cut out the floss, washed it, then restitched it. Kind of a pain.
That's a lot of work! Good for you. But snaps may be easier. 😁
