If you don't know 'Conny/Konrad Plank' ,he produced 'killing Joke- Revelations' & many others inc'
Ultravox, & German acts like DAF ,Michael Rother ,Harmonia , la Dusseldorf & the incredible NEU! - killing joke used the bass line of 'Negativland' (Neu! 1972) ,for 'Primitive' & Neu!'s 'Hallogallo' invented 'motorik ' where the backbeat & rhythm stays the same but the melody changes ,made popular by Kraftwerk. Hard hitting beat tracks like 'super'(off Neu! 2) & 'E-musik' influenced K Joke ,Joy Division ,the Sound & other post-punk groups. the vocals on 'Hero' (off Neu! '75) seem to have influenced John Rottens vocal style (he was a fan of a lot of German groups especially 'Can') ...
OMD released a tribute '4 Neu' & also recorded 'seeland' . Neu!'s 'seeland' is on Neu! "75....and thats just a brief dip into the group.....

I saw them a few times 1980-82 - as i thought their first 2 lps & 'turn to red' , 'nervous system ' , 'change ', 'pssyche' were great & i think the best post-punk live performers at the time.
I didn't see them again until early 2012 ( because they had the 4 original members) & I was surprised at how good they were ...

I've loved KJs music since the 80s. Had I seen this interview then, I wouldn't have. I really hope Jaz doesn't still feel this way. He is a brilliant musician and lyricist, but he seems to forget that without our men shedding blood on THEIR land, Europe would look very different today. We may be redundant, but don't ever doubt our feilty to the European people.

Watching them at Rockpalast 85, who could blame him. It was an amazing show and the crowd wouldn't even clap. I don't think they were alive. It's like WTF? Why were they even watching? I'd would give up a testicle to see KJ live. Not really but you get the point.

Are you even capable of understanding the chaos the US has brought on other countries? Hell, Obama bombed Syria until they ran out of bombs. We invaded Iraq over "Weapons of Mass Destruction" that we've YET to find, Killed Saddam Hussein, Killed Gaddafi FOR NOTHING! A lot of US bloodshed has been a self inflicted wound, make no mistake about it! Jaz loves the American People, but Hates the country. You might not think he's right, I think he's 100% right!

People can change their minds as they age; nothing wrong with that; nor is there anything wrong with playing for fans wherever they may be irrespective of one's original feelings, which as I said can change as you get older. We can't be angry young men all the time!

A question.....Does anybody know if Jaz Coleman did an lp based on the music of Led Zeppelin? , I know he did a 'music from 'The Doors ' & recorded some interesting records with Anne Dudley during the '90s & some Ambient / Eno / Philip Glass style stuff
No-one I know has heard of a 'Jaz - Led Zep ' record , so I could be wrong ... Thank You

When your records don't sell ('Brighter than a thousand suns') or don't sell & aren't any good ('Outside the Gate') it's somebody else's fault.....
But they did eventually 'comeback' - 'Absolute Dissent' , '2012' ....

      Er..should be ..' MMX11' (not '2012' - I couldn't remember the Roman numerals !! )..
Have they done any other really good records from the '90s to present time ?
As I've only really heard 'Pandemonium' ( thought it was 'ok') , 'K Joke 2005'(didn't like it), 'Pylon' (not bad) & a few 'nu-metal' type tracks somewhere ( f*****g dreadful ). Thanks .

What did Jaz mean by saying that Germany is an occupied country? In 1988, Germany had not yet been reunified. There was a cold war, we were on the brink of the Third World War. There was West Germany, part of NATO, which was controlled and protected by the allied western powers USA, Great Britain and France, and there was a communist East Germany, part of the Warsaw pact, which was occupied by the Soviets. So what was the point of Jaz? Without the protection of the US, there might not have been a free Europe because Europe was divided into two blocs.
