This is way too funny. I've seen the original Australian sketch but Rufus Hound is just far quicker than that Newton bloke and gets so many great lines in. It's like he was made purely for this!

Rufus did this scene better definately. Irregardless of who looked more comfortable in the scene Rufus pulled out better lines than Matthew. The British version pales in comparison to the Aussie version, but this is one example where the British version did it better. In my opinion :)

This is like the Australian version in exactly one way, they're both funny. Lot of butthurt Aussies in the comments can't seem to stand that a British comedian actually pulled off an original and funny improv. The rest of the British series was shit so you already got them beat, don't diminish this guy's excellent performance.
They made an American version of this and that's where I think it didn't work... The americans went in too hyper and they kept making out with the actors
@@jd2192 The American one didn't really give the guest room to play, either with their own persona/story or with the situation presented. They dismissed what the guest said too often. The situations and set-ups were also less interesting. Funny moments were a rarity in the American one...
see the actors on set aren't adapting to the scene. if they were, the husband would be pissed off that the improver was flirting with his wife, but he's just going by the script
newtons was well good they shouldn't have gone for the back of the jumper once he already sed he'd been racing. it was funny how he kept on going for the wine also newtons so funny when he's like "you were the ***** with the kid!" n "yeah, that was me"
@dramaticafantastica The American version did lack a lot of things that made the Aussie version so great (besides accents!). I do think Matthew's performance was better than Rufus's, because he seemed much more comfortable in the scene.
The American version could have been good if they'd chosen better people to be on it. There's no shortage of talented comedians in the US, but apparently very few good casting directors. :P
what i rekon is that they should use radio personalities instead. its better than using hollywood actors on it. they'll be too serious and think that they must get it right
ha unlucky, he came down into the audience to do a segment before sitting down in the audience to watch frankie boyle and there was a break afterwards so i thought id go and meet him, how come u didn't go?
I think this version suffered from the ensemble actors not really responding to what the actors were saying, and sticking to the script too closely. Both versions were funny, but the Australian one just gets it because the ensemble actors improvised alongside the cast more.
This is the only UK scene that I’ve found even comparable to the AUS versions of those same scenes. Brilliant work from Rufus

I loved this show, shame ITV didn't carry on with it - perhaps Dave could re-commission it?
I went to what was the funniest and best part.
Up until both those things were redefined by the goings on in that television studio.
