    THANK YOU!!! This is the absolute best explanation of Thiele Small parameters I've ever seen. I had to read their work back in my college days (a lifetime ago) with little understanding of advanced mathematics. Thank goodness for scientific calculators! You have done an excellent job of carving this down to the basics of physics and math. Also, the use of Xsim makes this all so much easier to understand.

    Try mapping a sixth order this way. It's very interesting to see how a fluid medium like air can behave so much like electronics in a whole different medium.

    First.. I applaud you for being the first person to put this exact info on TH-cam. I'm sure there are others, but I haven't seen one.
    I've been making models to show this very concept visually.
    I'd like to work with you, if you're interested. But I'd at least like to chat, since you blew the top of my head off today, watching this.
    I've been modeling Mmd as an inductor and Cms as a capacitor. Likewise, I've been using a capacitor as a, well, capacity of charge of air in a box. And I've been using inductors as the duct that inducts a current to oscillate through a field.
    We're both getting proper results, just different ways.

      Your model is correct because we treat air pressure as voltage and air volume velocity as current.
      We know that an inductor shorts DC, right? So think about a port (tube) with a fan blowing on one side at some constant speed. That constant forward pressure is analogous to a DC voltage. The port will do nothing to stop that air flow, like how an inductor does nothing to stop DC other than its DC resistance.
      Now take the same scenario and apply it to a sealed box. Cut a hole in the box and place a fan blowing at a constant speed. Eventually, the pressure inside the box will build enough to where the fan can no longer put any more air into the box. Kind of like how when a capacitor charges, no more DC current can pass through.

    I really wish you would have derived the equations, explained where they came from, and showed how someone could use spice to model boxes with an arbitrary number of elements.

    I wanted to ask you about the impedance of the speaker. The peak between 25Hz to around 60Hz is disabling the speaker to work using all the power, as the impedance is bigger, so the power would be 4 times lower. Is that assumption right? I am thinking about how we can run those frequencies and how is that issue solved in market speakers. I guess that is "solved" with the "bass boost" option that some amplifiers have, but for example, in my case, when I use that option, the amplifier starts clipping very earlier than if I do not use that option (I do not have the equipment to measure the speaker output, so that is why I have this question). Thanks in advance!

      No, the reason the impedance rises is because the speaker is acting more efficiently, the impedance rise at low frequencies is proportional to the amount of excursion of the driver.
      Basically, the changing current in the voice coil moves the cone back and forth due to the permanent magnet. However, that same movement generates opposing currents in the wire, thus lowering the effective current through the voice coil (or raising the impedance). This is called back EMF.
      Impedance rise is actually a good thing, as it’s a sign your driver is operating more efficiently. In other words, you have more acoustic power for less electrical power input.

    Hello paisano , would you do a video about mtm vs tmm? I saw only one of this kind on yt and i would like to know your opinion about it. in the 80 we used to put speakers head to head and in my opinion they sounded better.However , today's tech is way more advanced then the 80.

    Could you help me with REW impedance measurement? I made the cables as per your two videos and I got it working. But after a while I tried it again and couldn't get the calibration to work. Only the first step. I have measured and quadruple checked my cable and tried changing channels in REW etc. and nothing works. I always get this error message:
    "the measurement input should be much lower than he reference input for the short circuit calibration but it is not- the measurement peak is -X dBFS, the reference peak is -Y dBFS"
    X and Y are always very close if not the same value depending on the volume settings, and apparently should not? Please help me.

      It's almost impossible for me to troubleshoot these problems. First of all, make sure your sound card has a stereo mic input.

    You are using the IFP-Model, right? At least I hope you are because otherwise i am really confused. I use the EFP model and for me the moving mass is an inductor and the compliance is a capacitor

    Marius, I have a 7.1 sound card, normal for most computers, and I noticed the possibility of using it as an active bandpass, with up to 9-way system, the problem was: I didn't find software where I could do this. Frequency cuts per channel. Have you ever thought about it? do you know what software I could use?

    Why does everyone think that the math is difficult? Or scary? Or something to be avoided?
    It is a disgusting condemnation of education on this planet.
    The math is the secret sauce to getting the results you desire without many iterations, disappointments, and expense.
