- August 17th, Indonesia's Independence Day. And today, I go for a little walk around a neighborhood in Denpasar to see if there are any people out celebrating. I found a rowdy group of guys hanging out and having a good time and they welcomed me to join in on their little party.

As you can see, Indonesians are very welcome, as long as you can communicate, good manners and respect to local people. Our ancestors did the same, but the Japanese & Dutch broke our trust. That's why our independence day so meaning full. Because we fought together, so many dead for our freedom. But for now, Indonesia still being friendly for every country. Indonesia always want a peace. Thanks a lot Nick, I like the way you celebrate with local people. This is a great video.

Wow, you gave an excellent illustration on how Indonesian fought hard to earn its’ independence. You are way more knowledgeable on Indonesian history than majority Indonesians. We had to memorize lots of heroes’ names and important years during school years and yet to this day we are kinda vaguely understand the whole history. “The two American heroes across the intersection “ really cracked me up 😀. My mom told me Indonesian people suffered a lot more during Japanese colonialism than Dutch one , she said the torture was more brutal. I read many comments from one video from East Asian vlogger on how upset they were that Japanese government never officially apologized to many Asian countries who suffered tremendously by Japan imperial colonization during WW II. To this day many Japanese ironically are clueless about this horrendous action. Anyway, hats off to you for giving a great coverage on how Indonesia became independent.

Food wasn’t too spicy, just the arak was strong!
The cloves is almost the national smell of Bali hahaha as soon as you get off the plane it’s a familiar smell - Gudang garem cigarettes and other indo cigarettes all have cloves in them - I never found out why!!

Brother, i think, you should try this one. Especially, after you eat spicy food. It's one of beverage or herbal drink. Some people from another country usually like it. It's called "Larutan Cap Badak" & "Larutan Cap Kaki Tiga". There are so many flavours. Lychee flavour and guava flavour are really good, i think. You can find it at minimarket brother..
