Spent a day at work in a DB9 with sports pack. Went from MK to the Black Forest. Fantastic car. When i got back it was no dissapointment to jump back in my Crossfire to drive the commute home. That says a lot about how much fun these great cars are.
I've always admired these cars, very handsome and unique style with a touch of 'Aston Martin' hi-end elagance about it, not many around either! Definitely a future classic. I parked next to one many years ago in my Hyundai coupe, had a chat with the owner, we both admired each other cars as we compared them but both our concensus of opinion was the crossfire was more 'premium' inside and out.👍

Had the same car in same colour in 2004 from brand new. I loved this car. It’s a Mercedes with a sexier body. The Infinity sound system I have not managed to better in any car since . What’s not to like about this car apart from clunky Mercedes manual box. I had the auto and it was fab. Underrated and undervalued future classic ??
Better car salesman than an actual one. Still needs that degree of sleaziness though to actually become one. 😉 I'd reckon the two main issues why it's still not sold are MPG and tax. With the economy going to shit, people don't really have the money to spend on fun things like this.
Hi Alan,if this car is virtually a Mercedes slk or at least shares the same mechanical and electrical components,you shouldn't have an issue in locating spare parts for it.
£400 motor tax for a 3.2 litre is cheap compared to Ireland. A pre July 1 2008 3.2 litre engine over here is €1,809 per year, €1,003 for 6 months, €511 for 3 months.
I had a friend that had a Crossfire and she absolutely adored it but then certain parts had to be American import only from the dealer and it would be off the road more than she drove it and sadly she had let her dream car go.
crankshaft sensor goes faulty .and front wheels are 18 inch and rear 19 inch , you can put mercedes wheels on but you need wheel studs but watch lenths
Such a shame Chrysler / Stellantis didn't want to help with the central locking issues. Is the part available from Mercedes? I wouldn't be surprised if the Crossfire shared parts with the CLK, or was it the SLK?

And damn its great comeback as the newoil smelss on exhouse pipe.... If i don't member wrong they make hole set even aftermarket ... 33:56 Im not so sure USA car market even knows this one. I bet its only for EU Market as temp to make name more known here. But basicly the part's that aren't Germany are from ch... 4 class market...
hi alan,i have ford mondeo mk4 2011 from uk,and every morning the engine had til now tremble for few min,i asked in uk,germany,italy ford and others and every body said:all mondeo have this tremble-but i discovered now after 12 years of life for this car:6 wires on carosery under air filter which not have perfect contact/negative-which are used by varied modules:ques what? after i connected all 6 wires directly on batery negative,with some new wires ,all tremble dissapeard for ever,no more dtc,better torque,power,etc,so i believe ford maked so much economy using chasis negative conexion destroying life car with varied errors ,i think is poor experience or big strategy,what you think?
someone I know bought an SLK350 for £1800 a couple of weeks ago and I was taken for a drive in it. Have to say the interior is nothing like this car. It was a R171 model. Not sure if that's the same era as this

Based on the 1st gen platform then 2nd gen after 2005. Alot of the switchgear etc come either from the slk or the merc parts bin.. Lovely looking cars but the interior build quality and plastics are a lot to be desired..

It is based on the R170 yes. But the drive is more raw. The set up is markedly different. Having had both I prefer the raw feel to the refined feel of the SLK. 😊
Collectors car? Yes, scrap collector. ! The Chryslers that I have rented in the US are a pile of junk and handle like a wheelbarrow with a puncture. I always wish I could have my Mondeo in the US. God knows why the person bought it in the first place. They made a thumping loss of course. A colleague of mine bought a Neon and regretted it as the parts unobtainable and very expensive to maintain. Got peanuts for it. Brave person buying that. Good heads-up on that crappy Vauxhall design. My Mondeo is £365 road tax now of course.

It might be badged as a Chrysler but it was designed by a Brit, uses mercedes underpinnings and engine and was built by Karmann in Germany.. Not very Amaerican in my book.

Have you owned both as that is not true. The SLK is more sedate, whereas the Crossfire is more of a GT car. Having had both I can attest to that. Both are absolute bargains. The Crossfire is a light car, and with its bullet proof merc engine it returns rapid performance. But haters gotta hate I guess. That's fine. But your comment is just a diss and not true. 😊

They go well. Rapid as light with a great engine. Get a fabricated back box and it sounds glorious.

Mine does 31mpg on a run averaging national speed limit, funnily enough, slightly better than my first car which was a 1971 Volkswagen Beetle!

It's based on the R170. Very similar. I have had an slk but the Crossfire drives much differently. More raw as it was set up to be.
