I really think it is some type of prequel, when you see nemesis, she has the nemesis aspect sword. In the game it talks about ANCIENT aspects that Zagreus has. The aspects are from people beforehand, so unless nemesis comes back to grab her blade. This might be a prequel.

Originally Apollo was just the god of music and the arts and artemis the goddess of the hunt. There is a great video by overly sarcastic productions that explains this evolution

I'm sure she'll still be great, and there's room for infinite interpretations. I mean, have you seen how many Thors there are?
Something I love love LOVE is that Zagreus has his father's hair color (Black) but his mother's hairstyle (Spiky), but Melinoë has her father's hairstyle (Straight) but her mother's hair color (Blonde).

I'm inclined to think Melinoe is Zagreus' younger sister, conceived after Persephone returned to the Underworld, and he's trying to hold back his Grandfather while she's trying to kill the old Titan or free their father again. First step is the training arc. I think Apollo and Artemis having radically different skin tones work with their opposing natures. You already mentioned Hephaestus, so.....Hestia? I think Chaos will still be Chaos. Melinoe may encounter Tartarus, but I don't see him giving boons so much as being a hazard to avoid until he drifts back to as deeper layer of sleep or his dreaming eye turns elsewhere.

Like I know it's his channels focus but the fact he knows so so much iconograph that he immediately knew it was Hecate from her being a witch and then immediately knew 100% it was her from the torches as well as knowing who the MC is. I'm really excited for this game, and I really didn't expect it at all considering Supergiant never makes sequels. I wonder if we'll see Zagreus in this game, it would be interesting to see him interact with Melinoe considering they're siblings.
i feel like there’s a near 100% chance that zag shows up, considering supergiant knows what the fans want and it would make perfect sense with the story. it would be cool for him to have an updated adult design, and become a regular house member, at least with his own keepsake and summon if not his own boons
Supergiant doesn't make sequels because they like to innovate in every new game. The extremely positive reception told them "don't change too much, people fucking love this" so I'm guessing they feel a sequel where they tweak individual elements of the gameplay rather than completely reinvent the wheel was more appropriate

I find it interesting that Melinoe is going to be fighting Chronos with a sickle, quite the ironic choice of weaponry. Hoping that we might get to see Hestia potentially, don't know how they'd justify it, but it'd be interesting.
I mean, one of the Adamant Rail's aspects was Hestia, so she's not some frail flower. She guards her home with a battle rifle and underslung grenade launcher. And there is a major threat to hearth and home reawakening, so I can see her giving boons of fire and fortification. Edit: I recognize this would kind of limit what Hephaestus could bless Melinoe with.

Apollo was the one I wanted to see the most, so having him confirmed immediately was very nice. Hephaestus would be cool, it'd be nice if we replaced Daedelus Hammers with Boons of Hephaestus, because that would make sense. Otherwise, I hope to see some good Titan content. With Cronos as the main villain, it'd be cool to see, like, Prometheus and maybe Atlas if they can make an excuse for why he isn't holding up the sky.

Something interesting you can see at 4:11 is it looks like you have to fight underwater enemies, which could mean you have to move through Poseidon's domain or some new part of the underworld. If we get the former, I hope we see Triton,and maybe we fight Scylla and Charybdis as a boss

Just a theory, but maybe since Hades is imprisoned, shades have been just leaving the Underworld and spilling into everywhere else. Or maybe it's something else. There's supposed to be 5 underworld rivers, Styx, Phlegethon, Lethe, Cocytus, and Acheron. Assuming Acheron is the one by Persephone's house since it's the only one that goes to the overworld, then we technically still haven't seen one of the rivers in Hades so maybe we're seeing wherever the River Cocytus goes through.
Hope Zagreus is still in the new game (either an NPC, a seperate gamemode or a character u can unlock after beating the game) and hoping with new designs for old characters as well to truly feel like a NEW game
6:23 - I have a thought about Apollo's skin tone being so different from his twin sister's. Since Apollo is god over the daytime, he is out in the sun all the time, and it would make sense for him to have tanned skin. Artemis spends all her time out during the night, meaning her skin would stay pale. (I mean, that's in addition to the fact that all of the Olympian gods are related somehow, and yet in this game they resemble people of several different real-world ethnic groups.)

I would say Apollo and Artemis having different shaded skin makes sense. He is tanned because he is associated with the sun and daytime while Artemis, who is associated with the moon and nighttime, have paler skin.
I didn't notice that, but I did find out that the dual daggers Melinoe is given are both variants of Hecate's sacred knife, because Supergiant must have found out that she was associated alternately with a regular one and a sickle-bladed one and decided "You know what, both is good." Speaking of "both is good", Chronos/Cronos is a fun time. They're pulling their Orphic shenanigans again.

I'd love to see either Phobos or Deimos the most. Could see the entire game as potentially a war against Chronos/Cronos/Cronus (I honestly have no clue how they're going to spell it in game). It'd be great to see a lot of the lesser known Gods but if they wanted to they could even bring in the rest of big Gods; Hera, Hephaestus and/or Hestia. Throughout the course of the game, might even get abilities from Hades or Persephone. The 2 people that were the end-goal of the last game sending their gifts to you to try and get them free. Might be interesting to also see Prometheus as some sort of ally...Though I'm not sure why he'd be in the underworld. Heracles, probably the most famous person in Greek myth, didn't show up in the previous game so this may be a good place for him to show up. He's also previously gone into the Underworld and returned. Might be quite interesting to see the Judges of the Dead. Maybe as one of the first bosses if we're trying to enter the Underworld instead of escape it this time. Could be similar to how the Furies worked in the first game where you fight 1 at a time. I could see all 3 appearing, one deciding to pass judgement while the other two leave.
Phobos and Deimos would be LIT! Honestly everyone theorizing about what other minor gods or heroes or monsters might appear in this game is almost hyping me up as much as the trailer! I would love if Phobos and Deimos had features that directly affected each other, even on their regular boons. Alternatively, Apollo and Artemis (assuming she's returning, but given that she and Hecate have moon and night association I'm assuming she's in this one)
Mel most likely was born after the first game. I wonder when she was born she had similar complication as Zag. Was she born with her arm looking like that or without an arm. I hope Zag is in this game. He would be a great supportive sibling. (I would love a surprise unlockable playable Zag in this game). My main theory on the story is either when Mel was born or when she was a child Chronos attacked and she was given to Hectat to keep her safe. And now in the present they are all captured and she has the free them.

I'd love to see Cupid as either a god to gives boons, or as a character to assist like Achilles and Patrolocus (sic). Retelling the story of him and Psyche.
Apparently Melinoe is described as dual-bodied, which has been interpreted a few ways, but making her half-ghost isn't bad. Her hymn also seems to imply that Zeus tricked Persephone into sleeping with him, and Melinoe was born from Persephone's rage once she found out she had been deceived, but that probably isn't the origin story they'll go with here.

About the Hekate design, it's possible they'll change it, the same they did with Nyx in Hades 1, where in the early access, she was just a character covered in robes, but they changed it to what we know now.
I don't know. The current Hecate design has so much of her motifs it comes off as that's her design. Also, why put it in the trailer if it was just a placeholder like Nyx?

I've been thinking about potential character appearances; its possible that we could actually see Daedalus this time, instead of his hammer. The gameplay could be that he could make rooms that can benefit you. I would also love to see more "ghosts" characters like Tantalus as well Circie and Medea as well, since they would fit the WItch theme. You say Erebus for the Chaos stand in..but if we are going deeper and deeper underground, I think Gaia could be a possiblyty as well; since she might have something to say about the Titans.
the shade Dora is clearly Pandora, so her presence might confirm there will be some immortal related to her, like Epimetheus, Hephaestus or even Prometheus.
I'd really love to see Hera in the new game, I'm really curious of what they'd have her be like and what she'd offer as a boon, or what the similar option of a boon is gonna be
I hope we do get to see some gods outside of the Greek or Norse pantheon making a cameo. They've already established in the previous game through the aspects in Zags weapons that the Hindu, Chinese, and Mespotamian gods exist in this universe. I would love to see one of them show up.
In case you don’t mention it (love your videos) Cronos is NOT the lord of time, that is Chronus the primordial embodiment of time. Chronus existed along side Chaos but never did anything, as time cannot created, only move forward. Due to the similarities, the Greeks would often merge Cronos and Chronus into one being, but time is not born from the earth, like the Titan lord, but born with Chaos
So will the girl fight her way down into the Tartarus since Cronos is held there? If that is so, it will be very funny considering the fact that we were all the first game fighting our way up and out of it.

Yeah I think that is Melinoe the mythical Greek Goddess of Ghosts as the playable lead heroine as the ethereal beauty and the spectral arm kind of gives it away as the myths that did focus Melinoe did state she had an ethereal beauty, and was born with a regular arm and spectral arm. And her design looks myth accurate which I like as she has the ethereal beauty and spectral arm that was her trademarks of her appearance.

Something i noticed in the interactions is you have something called magick, and appollo says to " light your way down". So i think your prediction of going into the underworld is a good guess.
Something that came to mind when you mentioned Nemesis was the episode of Class of the Titans that had her as a minor character in it. This made me curious if you'd ever be thinking of doing a Mythical accurate or simply a review of that series or if you'd stick mostly to the video games and movies.
As for the olympian Gods that did not appear on the first game, you did forget one. Hestia. Regardless I think they will have to mix some of the Gods used in the first game too in order to have enough boon variety in the 2nd game. Zeus and some others will still be there most likely.

I think the implication is that Apollo is tanned from , , LITTERARY DRIVING THE SUN AROUND EVERY DAY , witch is a funny detail most people wouldn't think of , but its neat they added it .
Yeah, when I first watched the railer and saw the figure fighting with two torches I was like "I that Hecate?" and that feeling was enhanced when I saw the face shaped shoulder pieces (It wasn't until later that I processed that she was wearing a witch's hat)
I’m hoping we get Eris! She had an aspect, an Item and a few references in dialogue but nothing more in the first game - she has a lot of fun gameplay opportunities if she gives boons but also a lot of interesting opportunities with her character.
A character i really want to see is Daedalus, i don't know, i think they could make a really interesting character with a compelling quest line, something like Achilles's quest line or Sisyphus's quest line
Guessing it'll be a Dusa situation where it's only lightly implied (mostly off of name) that she's Pandora, but there's no actual confirmation. In Dusa's case the game actually discourages the idea that she's Medusa in the Codex. But certain dialogue from her strengthens the idea. Leaving us in a gray area with conflicting evidence. Which is to say that Dora will probably be fill a similar character role to Dusa and probably be left ambiguous as well

Nemesis is one of Nyx's children, i.e Thanatos and Hypnos' sister. She doesn't appear in the first game but you can use the aspect of her sword which you can see in her character art

And it's as gross as it seems, Aphrodite (I think) made her fall in love with her father King Minos' prize bull, later known as the Cretan bull, and that's how Asterius happened. But beyond that, she was a powerful sorceress/witch who I believe studied under either Circe or Medea

As someone who has a DND character tied to Nemesis seeing her in the game makes me happy
I find it interesting that Melinoe is going to be fighting Chronos with a sickle, quite the ironic choice of weaponry.
Hoping that we might get to see Hestia potentially, don't know how they'd justify it, but it'd be interesting.
I mean, one of the Adamant Rail's aspects was Hestia, so she's not some frail flower. She guards her home with a battle rifle and underslung grenade launcher.
And there is a major threat to hearth and home reawakening, so I can see her giving boons of fire and fortification.
Edit: I recognize this would kind of limit what Hephaestus could bless Melinoe with.

Apollo was the one I wanted to see the most, so having him confirmed immediately was very nice. Hephaestus would be cool, it'd be nice if we replaced Daedelus Hammers with Boons of Hephaestus, because that would make sense. Otherwise, I hope to see some good Titan content. With Cronos as the main villain, it'd be cool to see, like, Prometheus and maybe Atlas if they can make an excuse for why he isn't holding up the sky.

Something interesting you can see at 4:11 is it looks like you have to fight underwater enemies, which could mean you have to move through Poseidon's domain or some new part of the underworld. If we get the former, I hope we see Triton,and maybe we fight Scylla and Charybdis as a boss

@@dhruvrathi7116 well, we see shades where Melinoe is, which is supposedly on the surface since we can see the moon. Just a theory, but maybe since Hades is imprisoned, shades have been just leaving the Underworld and spilling into everywhere else.
Or maybe it's something else. There's supposed to be 5 underworld rivers, Styx, Phlegethon, Lethe, Cocytus, and Acheron. Assuming Acheron is the one by Persephone's house since it's the only one that goes to the overworld, then we technically still haven't seen one of the rivers in Hades so maybe we're seeing wherever the River Cocytus goes through.

6:23 - I have a thought about Apollo's skin tone being so different from his twin sister's. Since Apollo is god over the daytime, he is out in the sun all the time, and it would make sense for him to have tanned skin. Artemis spends all her time out during the night, meaning her skin would stay pale.
(I mean, that's in addition to the fact that all of the Olympian gods are related somehow, and yet in this game they resemble people of several different real-world ethnic groups.)

I would say Apollo and Artemis having different shaded skin makes sense. He is tanned because he is associated with the sun and daytime while Artemis, who is associated with the moon and nighttime, have paler skin.
Love the designs! Also, the prominent featuring of the Strophalos - Hecate's Wheel - in all the magic scenes.
I didn't notice that, but I did find out that the dual daggers Melinoe is given are both variants of Hecate's sacred knife, because Supergiant must have found out that she was associated alternately with a regular one and a sickle-bladed one and decided "You know what, both is good."

I'd love to see either Phobos or Deimos the most. Could see the entire game as potentially a war against Chronos/Cronos/Cronus (I honestly have no clue how they're going to spell it in game). It'd be great to see a lot of the lesser known Gods but if they wanted to they could even bring in the rest of big Gods; Hera, Hephaestus and/or Hestia.
Throughout the course of the game, might even get abilities from Hades or Persephone. The 2 people that were the end-goal of the last game sending their gifts to you to try and get them free.
Might be interesting to also see Prometheus as some sort of ally...Though I'm not sure why he'd be in the underworld.
Heracles, probably the most famous person in Greek myth, didn't show up in the previous game so this may be a good place for him to show up. He's also previously gone into the Underworld and returned.
Might be quite interesting to see the Judges of the Dead. Maybe as one of the first bosses if we're trying to enter the Underworld instead of escape it this time. Could be similar to how the Furies worked in the first game where you fight 1 at a time. I could see all 3 appearing, one deciding to pass judgement while the other two leave.
Phobos and Deimos would be LIT! Honestly everyone theorizing about what other minor gods or heroes or monsters might appear in this game is almost hyping me up as much as the trailer!
I would love if Phobos and Deimos had features that directly affected each other, even on their regular boons. Alternatively, Apollo and Artemis (assuming she's returning, but given that she and Hecate have moon and night association I'm assuming she's in this one)

My main theory on the story is either when Mel was born or when she was a child Chronos attacked and she was given to Hectat to keep her safe. And now in the present they are all captured and she has the free them.

Design wise the idea of having Artemis pale and Apollo bronze works with their moon and sun aspects even if they are twins
Apparently Melinoe is described as dual-bodied, which has been interpreted a few ways, but making her half-ghost isn't bad. Her hymn also seems to imply that Zeus tricked Persephone into sleeping with him, and Melinoe was born from Persephone's rage once she found out she had been deceived, but that probably isn't the origin story they'll go with here.
To be fair zeus and hades sometimes syncrotized so making her Hades's daughter is just as legit. There is no canon in greek mythology after all.

About the Hekate design, it's possible they'll change it, the same they did with Nyx in Hades 1, where in the early access, she was just a character covered in robes, but they changed it to what we know now.
I don't know. The current Hecate design has so much of her motifs it comes off as that's her design. Also, why put it in the trailer if it was just a placeholder like Nyx?

You say Erebus for the Chaos stand in..but if we are going deeper and deeper underground, I think Gaia could be a possiblyty as well; since she might have something to say about the Titans.

I hope we do get to see some gods outside of the Greek or Norse pantheon making a cameo. They've already established in the previous game through the aspects in Zags weapons that the Hindu, Chinese, and Mespotamian gods exist in this universe. I would love to see one of them show up.

In case you don’t mention it (love your videos) Cronos is NOT the lord of time, that is Chronus the primordial embodiment of time.
Chronus existed along side Chaos but never did anything, as time cannot created, only move forward.
Due to the similarities, the Greeks would often merge Cronos and Chronus into one being, but time is not born from the earth, like the Titan lord, but born with Chaos
I think Melinoë was born after the first game. It make the most sense considering the plot of the first game and how it ended.
So will the girl fight her way down into the Tartarus since Cronos is held there? If that is so, it will be very funny considering the fact that we were all the first game fighting our way up and out of it.

Yeah I think that is Melinoe the mythical Greek Goddess of Ghosts as the playable lead heroine as the ethereal beauty and the spectral arm kind of gives it away as the myths that did focus Melinoe did state she had an ethereal beauty, and was born with a regular arm and spectral arm. And her design looks myth accurate which I like as she has the ethereal beauty and spectral arm that was her trademarks of her appearance.

Something i noticed in the interactions is you have something called magick, and appollo says to " light your way down". So i think your prediction of going into the underworld is a good guess.
Something that came to mind when you mentioned Nemesis was the episode of Class of the Titans that had her as a minor character in it. This made me curious if you'd ever be thinking of doing a Mythical accurate or simply a review of that series or if you'd stick mostly to the video games and movies.

As for the olympian Gods that did not appear on the first game, you did forget one. Hestia. Regardless I think they will have to mix some of the Gods used in the first game too in order to have enough boon variety in the 2nd game. Zeus and some others will still be there most likely.

Yeah, when I first watched the railer and saw the figure fighting with two torches I was like "I that Hecate?" and that feeling was enhanced when I saw the face shaped shoulder pieces (It wasn't until later that I processed that she was wearing a witch's hat)
I’m hoping we get Eris! She had an aspect, an Item and a few references in dialogue but nothing more in the first game - she has a lot of fun gameplay opportunities if she gives boons but also a lot of interesting opportunities with her character.
A character i really want to see is Daedalus, i don't know, i think they could make a really interesting character with a compelling quest line, something like Achilles's quest line or Sisyphus's quest line

Guessing it'll be a Dusa situation where it's only lightly implied (mostly off of name) that she's Pandora, but there's no actual confirmation. In Dusa's case the game actually discourages the idea that she's Medusa in the Codex. But certain dialogue from her strengthens the idea. Leaving us in a gray area with conflicting evidence. Which is to say that Dora will probably be fill a similar character role to Dusa and probably be left ambiguous as well

Nemesis is one of Nyx's children, i.e Thanatos and Hypnos' sister. She doesn't appear in the first game but you can use the aspect of her sword which you can see in her character art
