I’m a dev, I don’t really do blockchain but all of this applies to any form of programming. It’s also good for code reviews. I have it give me mini PRs. Though it does also suggest a bit too much refactoring to the point that the code becomes more unreadable, so you should take what it says with a grain of salt.
Do you think this is a threat to smart contract developers? I could just prompt an AI to write a smart contract plus tests. After testing, I could give the smart contract to an auditor and I'm done.
No, you need to understand the code to evaluate the output of AI, and for that you need some skills. The auditor expects a smart contract that makes sense. He is not going to fix the output of chatGPT for you. AI will make Blockchain developers even more in demand, the same way as the web made developing applications cheaper, enabled a whole new industry, and created a lot of demand for web dev.
