I have become a believer in stopping after a full morning of hiking in the rain. I then head for an indoors spot to let my feet be dried and pampered. I had no problems until Central Virginia because I thought my feet were tough by then but learned the hard way that rain and rocks could do a number on even tough feet. It also seemed good mentally to limit my rain days to neros if not zeros.

Enjoying your videos. I like the way you give a good balance between scenery, trail shots, and your analysis of your hiking gear and concerns. Hike on!

I know my opinion is not worth much, as I am not experienced. But I’ve been watching lots of other hikers who are in Virginia now and they just made it through the Smokies. You may need that sleep liner in the smokies. Just an idea. Sending you lots of great vibes🙏🙏💗💗

I like all the cussing, "Sassafras Moutain kicking my butt today." Sounds like a Sailer that just hit the shore.

Here is what fixed my hot spikes, maybe it will work for you. For my heel I started to tie my runners using the runners knot. Most trail runners have those extra lace holes for that purpose. It really locks your heel in and saves your toes going down hill. For my toes Injinji socks and sock liners worked 100%. It took time to get used to but was worth it.

Wrap the hot sides of your toes with leukoytape. Then look at your shoe size. You may need to increase a half size so your toes are not banging the toe box.
