March 25, 2023 @ The Danforth Music Hall / Wavelength Winter Festival (Toronto)
It was one for the history books on Saturday March 25, 2023, when 1,200 people filled the hallowed floors of the Danforth Music Hall for the return of Do Make Say Think. Toronto’s hometown heroes and post-rock pioneers had not performed together on stage in six years, and they showed no signs of rust. It was one of their tightest shows ever in their 28 years of being a band, the core quintet expanded to epic proportions with two violinists and a horn section filling out their cinematic sound.
With fantastic sound combined with eye-popping visuals by Bryce Kushnier and Jared Sales illuminating the ceiling as well as the stage, and the prick-up-your-ears addition of fan-blown wind chimes courtesy of bassist Charles Spearin, it was more like being inside an art installation than going to another concert.
DMST is a band that makes instrumental music heavy with emotion, and this show felt like a cathartic release after a claustrophobic winter in an increasingly tense city - on top of three years of isolation. We don’t know if there will be more Do Make Say Think shows in future, but last spring,Toronto felt very lucky to have witnessed such a special night.

Do Make Say think is one of my favorite bands. I'm close to thirty now and I've been listening since my teens. I'd love to see them some day. I will never see them live probably, as I live in southern California. But this means so much to me. Thanks!

This is one of my favorite albums of all time. I was thinking I'd never see a live performance of this song. I've resolved.
