Think you did the right thing in backing off for a few weeks. Think it might also help to block some people from posting if they are abusive, while not really reading them or taking notice of what they are saying. I think you can also designate somebody else to filter the comments for you. As far as youtube is concerned the majority are dudes on this platform although if you're doing female focussed content then most of the audience should be women. If I can sum up in three words - weirdos gonna weird :D
