    I’m glad (at 11.10) that Phil spoke about the enormous potential for classic car restorers now that all new design stuff is electric. I can see this as a massive growth industry over the next decade, and when I say that, I’m talking several hundred percent activity increase, (providing fuel remains available in some shape or form during this century…) Its a shame that people of my generation (the 70s muscle car era) won’t still be around to enjoy it!🙏😊

    Just been to start my mini to keep the engine ticking over. I'm counting the minutes till springtime and getting back out in it 😊 I had a sportspack mini with 13inch wheels back in the day. Looked great but the bigger wheels definitely spoiled the feel.

    First mod. Find and repair the factory rust and oil leaks.
    I'm not positive but I think they came from the factory with 2 oil leaks. I think you could option for 3.😏
    I've had mine for about a month.
    I've replaced ball joints, shift rod seal, door/boot locks, rack boots and heavy duty strut rods.
    Repaired rust below both tail lights, the inner fender well on the left side and under the fuel tank. Also repaired striped bonnet bolts, broken mirror and reworked the other, made seat brackets, fixed the driver's seat springs, replaced a couple of wheel studs and 100 other little things I can't remember.
    On the way are output shaft seals, rear shoes and springs, E cables, lower control arm bushings, SS rear view inside mirror and a few other little things.
    I have radius arm and upper arm kits on hand.
    Mine was a nice car when I got it. This is topical.
    The purist will scoff at fixing the oil leaks....."that's not stock" they'll scream. 🤣

    @Stevestonmotorco Have you guys installed many Electric Window kits to the minis? There are a few kits floating around from the usual suppliers, which all look roughtly the same, have you tried them and any postiive or negaitve reviews? There are virtually no TH-cam videos on electric window kits. Would love to know what you think of them.

    Great video.
    Interesting the factory race and rally teams got 12 inch wheels homologated for motorsport use in the late 60's.
    The racing guys liked to low profile tyres for circuit, but rally guys didn't as the tried to us taller tyres to improve ground clearance.

    • @arrindaley3714
      @arrindaley3714 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reading vizard's book and there was extremely limited choice in 10 inch tyres back in the day and fwd and racing meant there wasn't a tyre that would survive a race so they went looking at other tyre sizes.

    Hey, would you recommend changing a HS4 to a HIF on a 998 Mini ? I’m struggling to get drivability. Good tips on the video 👍🏻

    • @GTE_Channel
      @GTE_Channel 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You dont need that. Is your engine completely stock? Check if your carb is mechanically correct. Use the right dashpod oil and keep the correct level.
      Also fuel level setting is important
      The HS4 is a perfect carb for your engine and can take performance upgrades up to 60% of original

    • @closeenoughmicron
      @closeenoughmicron 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's kinda not worth doing. Rebuild the hs4 including the throttle spindle bushes. They like to leak air in from there as they wear. Also check the fuel pump is pumping enough fuel to the float bowl.
      As they said in the video the HIF is newer tech, so you want fuel starve when driving a mini like it should.
      If you get the chance, get a David vizard book and have a read through. He mentions why carb "upgrades" aren't worth it.

    • @joshdony9959
      @joshdony9959 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The carb has recently been rebuild and in good condition, all the ignition system has been changed and still can’t get a good feel when driving. I’m thinking about booking in for a rolling road session

    • @GTE_Channel
      @GTE_Channel 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joshdony9959 if its rebuild and the float and oil levels are good for the carb a rolling road session is a good first step. What ignition did you fit? That could also cause bad running, as will incorrect sparkplug gaps etc..
      Please let us know the results. There is no reason your car should not run as smooth as butter

    hey phil what’s the best cam upgrade for a 1310 would you go KAD 100 or a re13 ?

    • @GTE_Channel
      @GTE_Channel 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on how you use your Mini. My advice is to choose a camshaft that compliments your current driving style.
      A SW5, Kent 266 or AC Dodd RS will give you power from idle to 6500rpm. Ideal all round cams.
      A 270 or 274 cam are also still nice on the street, but a 286 for example will be really wild to drive but a dog in traffic. So again, choose something that suits how you use your car.

    Hi, I have a 1330 engine with 3.44 FD, but the gearbox is a close ratio gearbox from innocenti engine, for me it seams like the close ratio box with 3.44 is driving similar to a normal gearbox with 3.21 FD, my question is should I change my FD to 3.21? I would like to have tue best power output in terms of acceleration and highway drive

    • @GTE_Channel
      @GTE_Channel 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You cant have both. A 3.44 will give you more acceleration where a 3.2 or 3.1 will give less acceleration and higher top speed so lower revs when cruising, which can be more comfortable.
      It's really a compromise, only you know how you use your car, and on what types of road you drive on.
      If you have a 1275, especially one that is tuned you can go 3.1 without really suffering on the acceleration part, and still benefit the added toospeed and comfort while cruising.

    • @GTE_Channel
      @GTE_Channel 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eduardodedios8213 that's a lot of money you could spend on your A series engine for making it very fast en still be really reliable, and keep 10k in your pocket. Personally I would not bother. For that kind of money you can buy a fully build Specialist Components supercharged 160hp (minimum) engine. Or 16V conversion, or.. ...
      As you can tell I'm not a fan of the Honda conversions.
