    1. I am learning Korean because I love South Korean culture and media. The language sounds very "familial"- it feels like a language you would use with your extended family during reunions and holidays. I really like languages with a homey feel.
    2. I will listen to podcasts, write poems, read news articles, read the bible, and change my device language to Korean
    3. I will avoid relying fully on apps like Duolingo and actively use the language daily. I will focus more on vocabulary instead of grammar.
    4. I will schedule study times with my study buddies
    5. I will focus more on output. I will talk to myself in Korean, write in Korean, and other things to immerse myself in the language.

    1) I'm learning Spanish not only because it's taught in school but because I'm interested in it for travel and other things
    2) Strategies - reading the Bible in Spanish, listening to podcasts (I'm following a few right now), watching TH-camrs in Spanish
    3) Traps to avoid - only focusing on grammar (especially with classes in school)
    4) Maintaining streaks & getting my friend to keep me accountable
    5) I think in the next 7 days I can make it a goal to have a conversation in Spanish or journal in Spanish once a day!

@@blossomgal I learned English, French and Spanish in school, so it was kinda "forced" which is good tho, cause self studying is sooo exhausting haha and I think I wouldn't even have discovered my passion for languages. So anyways, what helped me to actually be good at it was my motivation. Motivation is in general a huge thing when it comes to learning a language. When it comes to self studying like korean and Swedish I mostly use books. I tried different ones from Talk to me in Korean or from Pons. I recently bought a new book for studying and its soo good, its called "korean grammar in use" (if you're interested in learning korean idk haha). Now I am doing a language course in Korea which is helping me a lot. In general I try to use all the languages in my daily life like listening to music, watching Movies or TH-cam Videos. And for me the best thing to learn and practice is actually self talking. I do it everyday. I just talk to myself and imagine different situations. Its actually helping a lot to improve my speaking and conversation skills. And its helpful especially if you dont have friends or someone you can practice speaking with.

@@blossomgal Oh and I dont really use apps. Sounds like you’re doing great! I agree that it’s good to learn the languages that you are more likely to be able to use in real life. That’s mainly what I’m sticking with these days.
Recently I’ve mostly been usinq apps, videos, dialogues, and newspaper reading to improve my languages. In the past I had lots of lessons with teachers (online and off), but I don’t really have the energy for that these days.
I’ve doing mostly maintenance of Mandarin and Cantonese (which I also have to use very day in real life) as well as more active study of Vietnamese and Spanish.

    1. I am learning spanish and french, because they can help me with jobs in the future and provide a way for me to challenge myself while increasing future opportunities. (and cause its fun to speak to others in different languages)
2.I am going to start by using duolingo to start learning french, and use study materials and watch shows and movies for spanish.
3.I am going to try to stay consistent so that i don't give up or forget about it by adding it as a daily task in my calendar.
4.I am going to stay accountable by using the structured app on my phone to send me reminders of when it is time to practice daily to make it a habit.

Amazing video! Many thanks to the author of the channel for the recommendations! The problem with many people is that they want to take a "magic pill" or get "secret knowledge" and immediately have skills and abilities. However, the truth of life is that knowledge, skills, and abilities do not come by themselves. You can't learn a foreign language without doing anything, without wasting your time and effort, just like you can't learn to ride a bike lying on a comfy couch, listening to lectures and watching videos about "modern methods of learning" on a bike. To really learn something, you have to really practice every day. You're going to fall down while you're learning, and you're going to get bumps - that's normal! The ups and downs of learning are an integral part of our lives. Motivation from success and depression from failure will always be your study companions. However, every student has problems in his or her studies that he or she lacks the knowledge to solve. It can be: poor memorization of words; no progress in language learning; the student can speak, but does not understand speech by ear; misunderstanding of grammar; incorrect pronunciation, etc. Agree that a problem you don't know how to solve is very demotivating. In order to find the answer to our question we have to spend a lot of time to read videos, articles and books by polyglots. In today's world, we have to solve problems as quickly as possible. I don't have time to study and analyze a huge amount of information. My goal is to master the basic knowledge of a foreign language as quickly as possible and already start earning money effectively in the international arena. I settled on the practical guide by Yuriy Ivantsiv " Polyglot's Notes: practical tips for learning foreign language". This book is always in my bag. If I have a problem while learning a language, I quickly find the answer in this book. There are many different techniques and tips for learning a foreign language in Polyglot Notes. I have made my own individual schedule and plan for language learning. Now I know what I am going to study, how I am going to study, when I am going to study and what results I am going to achieve. No problem could stop me! With an effective language learning plan my professional skills are more and more in demand internationally every day. Friends, don't stop there! Everyone has talents that millions of people around the world need! Learn the language and make your ideas and dreams come true! Thanks to the author of the channel for the informative and useful video! Your videos motivate me.

gonna start learning french this summer after my exams, im mainly learning it to comunicate easier with family, and friends (most of my friends speak it)plus i feel the need to learn this incases of abroad travelling.
Currently my plan is to use more video/voice based tutorials and listening since ive found it an easier thing to start with then break my way into speaking and reading.
i would say i avoid limiting my french lessons to just online resources but rather adapting my day to day things in french to get more comfortable with it.
to keep myself accountable im just gonna tell my friends im learning french lmao, once i tell them they wont dare let try quitting especially since they speak it so often they'll just altogether start talking to me in french.

1| I am learning German! I found a lot of great German songs that I wanted to sing along to, so that’s why I wanted to learn German at first. However, now I’m quite interested in the language and I want to travel to Germany one day!
2| I’m going to go back over the basics and make sure I am pronouncing the sentences correctly. And I have this German book that organizes a 30 day plan, so I’m going to follow that and review.
3| With learning German, the main trap is people discouraging me from learning the language. They say it’s aggressive and harsh when in actuality it’s not, unless the person is angry , then yea it’ll sound harsh. Just like in any other language.
4 | My German friend is helping me learn German. So she’s a big help, she helps motivate me to want to learn more. She’s teaching me German and I’m teaching her English. One day I want to talk to her in German.
5 | I will actually stick with the 30 day German plan, learn words on index cards that have to do with the planner, my friend quizzes me on articles for words, and I get on Duolingo for a little review. Now for pronunciation, I record myself saying a sentence in German and I send it to my friend.. as embarrassing as it can be.. I’m less embarrassed about it. Plus, I am getting a lot better! Progress is awesome! Haha thanks for reading. :)

I took German in high school and I never understood why people had the stereotype of it being an angry language beyond war movies (because they are usually the bad guys.) I think it sounds beautiful.
In contrast, I think French doesn't sound beautiful at all; it sounds like they are talking through their nose. French and Spanish were more popular.

@@EcstaticTeaTime I’m not a fan of French either, I don’t like how it sounds. Spanish, I liked it but I got bored of it quite fast. German has always been a fun and beautiful language that I would like to process on with. My motivation for learning German is a lot higher than what people are saying about it. Plus, I want to speak German with my German friend, and travel to Germany one day! I wasn’t that interested in Spanish that much. Also, because I had trouble pronouncing the words. German isn’t that bad as Spanish was for me. Aber viel Erfolg mit Deutsch lernen! :)

I loved this video. My target language for this year is English, my native language is Spanish and Turkish is my second language but sometimes it’s really difficult for me as a medical student to find time to study languages but this year I want to overcome this mindset and achieve my language goals.
Some of the problems that languages learners face are not using the things their learn because no one talk the language in their environment. Sometimes when I learn something new in my target language I want to talk about it and share it with someone but cannot because no one knows English in my city. I don’t have any feedback and that makes that the learning process becomes more difficult and slower.

I am in physical therapy school right now so I understand. I tell myself to at least "appease the bird" (do one lesson in Duolingo) and I can build up from there if i have time. Many people in my class are interested in learning Spanish so we made a club; we haven't been meeting lately but we will still post things we find helpful.
For my Japanese, I am on the fence about studying for the JLPT, especially since the window to take the test is so small. I end up listening to podcasts more (including medical ones I have found.) They just put out a book for healthcare professionals so I have a dictionary, so to speak.
With both my languages, if I make it applicable to my future job, the less it feels like I am taking away from my studies. The dialogs for medical settings are limited here but they are relevant. Just make sure any listening activities are less than twenty minutes, better if under ten. Any longer and you can burn out and putting them on repeat is difficult.

    1. I am learning Mandarin because learning Mandarin offers many opportunities for personal growth and I want to be able to communicate in the world's most spoken language. I am also improving French because I live in Belgium and French is important here because there are very few people who want to learn Dutch.
    2. I will use Duolingo to get the basics of Mandarin and later on I will try to listen to podcasts, TH-cam video's etc. For French, I will try to speak it more with my family, I will read books and listen more to French music.
    3. I will avoid only focusing on grammar and getting burned out. I will avoid wanting to quit and even if I want to I will push through.
    4. I will use Duolingo every day for minimum one lesson to learn Mandarin. I will remind myself of my goals and immerse myself in the languages.
    5. I will try to find someone who I can learn these languages with. I will find a show to watch in French. With Mandarin I will focus on input, with French I will focus on output.

girlll i’ve literally been watching you since those treadmill videos in 2020 and our interests have matched up again! i do have some completely unwarranted advice though
maybe you have other goals you didn’t broadcast, but i’d recommend setting goals besides attaining fluency. i’ve found that having specific goals really helps, and although there are things some consider as “”proof”” of fluency (knowing 10,000 words, passing a test like JLPT or IELTS etccc) it really is vague. maybe you could make a goal to have a conversation with your parents or finish x amount of books
and i’m not saying this to crush spirits or anything but with a year and a half + the fact you are learning multiple languages i think fluency-if fluency to you is speaking and or understanding your target like you understand english-is next to impossible
and also, for me my confidence about how fluent i am changes a lot. i also forget just how much work it took to get to where i’m at (reading books w 1-2 lookups per page, almost completely understanding shows with target lang subtitles)
i’ve been learning japanese (i was in 7th grade i should’ve choose something different help 💀) for around 3 years but thought it had been like 1.5 recently… i really forgot about how much time i put in, watching like 20 j-dramas over one summer literally not understanding that much!
but yeah, it was very hard to tell where i was at because knowing more makes you aware of what you don’t know
and sorry that this has turned into a rant but yeah i’d just advise against fluency as a goal, sorry if this was just something you kinda said and i’ve been giving an essay for no reason 😭 you’re really smart though so i’m happy to see where you will go!

1- I’m learning Japanese to be able to speak and have casual convs with Japanese speakers and be able to watch the shows I love to watch in japanese. I’ve been wanting to learn a language and this is the one I want to start with not end with.
2- The strategy im using is building a sable foundation for Japanese by practicing the alphabet’s by writing/memorizing katakana(カタカナ) and hiragana(ひらがな). And while I keep writing thm to memorize I’m going to start on learning vocabulary to start understanding more while heading in the direction of understanding more while listening or reading but by starting to form sentences and learning grammar here and there.
3- While I learn Japanese it’s it own language so as I improve I can start reading definitions in my target language to use more words they use naturally and I and flow and speak better.
4-I am dedicating time everyday to practice the characters of Japanese and by practicing on my vocabulary.
5- I will start going in on vocabulary that is commonly use and use them by seeing them on n person and say they in Japanese in my head and out loud and by writing thm down.

Korean because I'm into Kdramas and the Korean language is cozy. Like it feels like im being encourages whenever i hear it. I simply love the language.
    2. Up till now my only strategy was just keeping a streak on learning app but now im going to venture into reading books and learning vocab from them, then shadowing daily.
    3. Ill avoid the trap of being stiff necked eith a strategy even when its not working. Like trying to do what other people are doing even when it doesn't suit me.
    4. Ill make practice videos every month to keep myself accountable ( yhats the only system i can think of right now)
